In ADDITION: We've decided to keep Iris for my sister since Catalina died (that was her goat). We chose Iris over Jade because Iris had better dairy strength, width, body capacity, and her little baby udder looks like it's got more potential. :) (Plus she's got some flashy coloring, and that can never hurt.) ~~ Pictures taken earlier this week: Edited at November 6, 2021 02:30 PM by Meian

Meian said: Hurry, Sorry I didn't see this >.< ~~ Having a male around (intact or fixed) can definitely help because he'll go crazy and the doe will show an interest in him when she's in the mood. ^^ However, even when there isn't a male around, there are a few signs that does display even when theree isn't a male around. She'll have a discharge, flagging (wagging the tail, reason isn't clear, but some think it's to spread her scent towards the male to show her readiness), a doe will sometimes become verbal (Stella really screams when she's in heat, for no reason, constantly, and super loud), and they'll sometimes urinate more often than previously. When there isn't a male around, sometimes a doe in heat will act "bucky," meaning that she'll make buck talk (little blabbing sounds bucks make to flirt) or mount other does. ~~ Stella just came back from a date with Watson (Nov 3-6). ^^ We'll have to see how it works out, and hopefully it took. :') When she got back, all the does were very interested in her lovely perfume (the buck scent that rubbed off from Watson). and Bean finally is keeping quiet after screaming for her mom for days. :')
No worries I was really busy myself :'3 And all of that sounds pretty eventful, despite the screaming, it is cute to know that mom and babies share strong connection P.S. I'll go see what goat scream sounds like, I heard piglets and heh didn't know it would be that loud and pitched XD

Goat screams are not nearly as bad as piglets', thank goodness. :') However, our neighbors did end up calling animal control on Bean after a while, so we've gotten a warning >.< Fortunately, Stella should only have to see Watson for about an hour if she comes back into heat (she couldn't see him right away the first time because he had another doe in with him), and by next year, Bean will be going off to her own buck. Plus, Bean and Stella's bond won't be as intense once Stella's had her babies (though they'll always be close). :3

Stella came back into heat today, as I'd predicted. :') I'm confident it worked this time, though, since we got to take her over right away, and her breeding/due dates are posted on the first page! Of course, I'll let y'all know how it goes. ^^ Watson, per usual, was quite the gentleman, and very interested in courting her, so it took a bit longer than I wanted to stand in the hot sun, but it's all good now. :D .

I haven't posted to this in a while, but here's a picture of my babies (Stella and Bean) snuggling :3 Stella is finally drying up, it sure took her a while to cut Bean off. XD Stella's belly is looking a little lower, so I'm thinking the breeding worked and she's got a baby or two in there! ^^ We'll see in the next few days whether or not she comes back into heat. ~~

Don't worry, this thread will be SPAMMED with the baby(/ies) XD She came into heat, so it might not have worked, but her pregnancy seems to be carrying on as usual (showing all the signs), so me and my FFA advisor are thinking it was false. We might get her blood tested to see if she's preggo, but I think I'm gonna wait... There's really no point in knowing whether it worked now, since we wouldn't breed her if she wasn't preggo (it's too late in the season, her heats would be hard to predict cos they are irregular this time of year, and the baby would be born too close to showing season to make me confortable lol) . Also it's been a while since I've posted pics, so here y'all are :3 (DISCLAIMER: I cleaned the pen later the day I took these pictures, I know it looks like a mess >.<) Edited at January 21, 2022 08:00 PM by Meian

Okay, well there are still no babies and Stella was due 2 months ago so we're gonna say it didn't work out :') It's okay, though, because Bean and Iris are able to be shown as dry yearlings and we'll be taking them around to shows just the two of them this year, and then hopefully breed in august-september and get january-february Bean and Iris babies! ^^ . Stella still looks pregnant, so we're keeping a close eye on her to make sure nothing is up, but she's acting fine, eating fine, and has had no hormonal changes, so we assume she's alright. . We already went to our first show just last month. In ring number 1: Iris got fifth, Jade got sixth, and Bean (she was the youngest and therefore the most awkward teenage phase) got last (10th). Ring 2: Iris got fourth, Bean got seventh, and Jade got eight. So the placing for both rings was wierd, but we've figured out that judges like Iris XD . Oh, also, guess what?? We found out doggo is a purebred queensland via a very accurate DNA testing company. (We know they're accurate because my sister in law did it for her backyard bred dog and got back like 50 breeds with all sorts of wierd percentages.) None of us saw it coming, we knew she was mostly queensland, but not a purebred. Picture of the fancy (somewhat harassed) girly:
