A bird could end up being a good distraction, considering that A. they can fly and zombies cannot and B. they are very loud by nature. So, perhaps. A falcon or hawk would be cool, but a pidgeon or chicken would be more realistic.

Oooooh, that would be interesting. Maybe a garter snake of some kind or something. But she'd have to feed it. Food's already a major issue.

The problem with having an animal companion is just the food. Like, seriously guys, there's gonna be points where your characters will go without food for days. If y'all are already starving, how are you gonna support an animal? And Sadie's, like, right there.

In an apocalyptic wasteland, it's a constant war for food and water. Hell, it'd be likely that your characters will be the ones to eat the pet, not Sadie. Hunger isn't funny business. It isn't something to be ignored. Actually, it's kinda one of the reasons why I tried to keep the group as small as possible. Like, imagine feeding nine people in a place where food is so hard to find. And not just any people--hungry people. They're constantly on the move; they're gonna be using up a lot of energy, especially Aurora, who's a growing teen.

I see what you mean, it would be sad to see the pet go but the characters survival to them is more important. As painful as it would be for some characters to kill and eat their own pet I'm sure the pet would be happy knowing that it helped the probability of it's compainions' survival last longer. It would make sense that it would be the others instead of Sadie who would kill it out of hunger and not her. Aurora needs to be thought about too, sinse she's the youngest. She's a teen and someone most would want to die after them if they still cared enough. Edited at September 6, 2021 09:57 PM by Sirris

Hunger is, like, one of the main driving factors in the RP. I mean, it's already in the title: "To Rid of Hunger." Sadie isn't the only one here who needs to be fed. In fact, her own hunger is probably not as high of a priority as the rest of the group's hunger 'cause it'll take Sadie a full month to really need to be fed. But the others? They'll get hungry everyday.

I feel like it might just be better to not have the pet in the first place, then? I don't think our characters are really dumb enough to keep something they won't be able to sustain.

Yeah, it would be cute to have a pet, but in terms of realism? I think the characters would kill whatever healthy animal they find and eat it. Ya gotta do shit to survive.
