Hey so I'm trying to get myself some realistic horse character designs. I'm trying to figure out how Appaloosa markings work out with other markings, especially the limit of a snowcap before it becomes not a snowcap. Also with the thing with how brindle is supposed to look like.
The reason I'm not searching this up is because I want to know how to draw it and have a snowcap not look like a Tobiano while coloring the lineart.
Yea and trying to memorize some marking names. Mostly the white markings, Tobiano, Rabicano, Sabino, Splash, Overo, Tovero.. that stuff. And forcing myself to be active on some horse sites to understand it.
Important: not genetics, I tried and failed hard enough in that. |

You need to understand the genetics behind it, I own horses and do horse adoptables, once you get the hang of it it's fine, a Splash white leopard Appaloosa would look like an Appaloosa with white legs and face and blue eyes (example) Appaloosa colours are very specific to genes. You can have a lplp PATN-1 horse that would show NO Appaloosa markings I'm too tired to go into more detail haha :P |
