Gorillas, Orangutans, and Burros are my go to familiars since they all have high HP, high attack and are cheap to feed :3 African Wild Dogs aren't half bad either. The former two are found in the Jungle and the latter is found in the desert.

This thread has the familiars by location and some by level :3

Tips: This might be obvious but if you offer boarding services, BE or CP training then let it be known you are premium; players like that:)
Keep an eye on how long you are premium time flies.
For specialization I suggest you do breeding=more den spots, then genetics if you like talents and thats it. In my opinion explroing and battling are useless unless you really need explore moves and such
Use greenhouse a lot, in the future it saves you mush on healing potions.
Also if you have familiars, you need the morning dew elixir and a huge stock. Even big familiars like gorillas get injured easily.
i will try and think of more , hope this helped:)

Thank you all, you've been a great help! I'll get started on recruiting familiars right away.

I wouldn't worry too much about healing familiars

Back when I was exploring a lot, I started naming the orangutans based on how many I killed (I believe I lost interest at 10?)

Just make sure that you have enough social to recruit more- in my eyes it isn't really worth it to actually heal them.
The familiars that you are able to purchase yourself (dog event is what's coming to mind just because that's one of my 'special' familiars) also can't run away and will eventually heal, so that could be a good investment! Bidoo also sells them

Hi, hijacking this thread because I'm also a premium newb. What do the specialization levels mean, and how much benefit would I get per level for each specialization?

@ilannaqq
Yeah, I figured I could just swap them out for fresh familiars. Didn't know the purchasable ones would stay though! Thanks again

Ok specialization is just bonus perks for doing something (breeding a certain number of wolves, exploring a certain number of levels, etc.) and it will say what the requirements are for each specialization and level. Each level you will get 1 small benefit, that will add up to a lot once you max out the specialization.
