I know just by what it says, it means how many bones I collected this year. What is it for? It is just so members know how many they've gathered altogether or does it count towards the trophy?

Its how many you collected this event this year, so you know your count towards the trophy.

There are two different counts.

How many bones you have. You can spend these.

How many you earned this event. These count toward the trophy and reset every year.
