Why you deserve that rank?
Recon is very disciplined and has a military esc mindset. He believes everyone should know and play their role in the pack, following the alpha's commands without question or hesitation.
Appearance
Recon is the perfect blend of a Malinois' agility and intelligence, with a wolf's ferocity and strength. He's pretty big, reaching 29" at the shoulder and weighing in at a hefty 97lb. From his tip of his nose to the fluff of his tail, Recon measures in at 5'2". He has a sleek body, making him ideal for speed with strong an agile limbs. Although he's muscular and strong, they aren't his strong suit, when fighting or hunting, he relies mostly on quick attacks and the element of surprise.
Recon's coat is rare and beautiful, a majestic blend of the Vancouver Island Wolf's silver and black coloring with the face mask and brindle varient of a belgian malinois. The light gray/tan points of his coat shimmer in the sunlight like they were made of silver and cast an almost ethereal glow over over him. In contrast, his dark brindle pattern dances across his coat in ripples and waves with lighter points blending out the harsh blacks. Only slightly shorter than a typical wolf's, Recon's fur is dense and creates a weather-resistant barrier between the harsh climates and his skin. His skin is interesting, mainly black but pink is mottled throughout, blending in and if he was shaved bare, it would make him look like a fleshy slab of marble.
Recon's head is a commanding feature, beautifully reflecting his malinois heritage with a long snout that blends beautifally into his face. His deep-set eyes are a piercing royal blue color, radiating intelligence along with a hint of judgement. They seem to hold wisdom beyond his years and the cunning of a natural hunter, appearing to be capible of staring into your soul and reading you like a book. His eyes are usually stone cold, reflecting his tough, unfeeling exterior but in quiet moments around the dogs he cares about, they seem to soften, affection brightening his gaze. They are framed by a nearly black mask covering his face, the only silver points being teardrops in the corners of his eyes and a stripe up his nose. Atop Recon's head sit a pair of alert ears, standing proud and constantly listening for the slightest sound.
His neck is thick and muscular, flowing seamlessly into his powerful shoulders and back, a testament to his endurance. Recon's chest sis broad and deep, housing a large heart and lungs which assist him in keeping up his speed for long amounts of time. His back slopes gently into his strong, slightly curved tail that flicks everytime he gets annoyed or is getting antsy. His legs are long and powerful, built for speed and agility while Recon's paws are large and heavily padded. The size of his paws give him remarkable traction while still giving him terrifyingly quiet steps. Each step he takes bleeds with confidence and purpose, his movements graceful and yet deliberate, mirroring the predatory elegance of his wild heritage.
Recon has a deep, strong bark that commands respect, his howl is melodic, much like a bass singer in a choir. The e-collar the humans placed around his neck is uncomfortable, flattening his fur but not yet having become unbearable. Recon has a few scars scattered across his body, a couple notable ones include a large chunk missing from the top of his left ear, a jagged hole left in the place from when he had gotten into a fight with one of his packmates. Another is a gash running down his side from when he tried to defend his sister from a bobcat, a fight that haunts him to this day.
Personality
Recon's personality is built upon his prior experiences, shaping him into his incrediby disciplined self. His military mindset is a fortress, built with discipline, strategy, and an unbreakable resolve. Every step he takes, every move he makes has been calculated, every decision weighed for the pros and cons, trying to figure out the best option that will result in the least concequences. His resolve is unyielding, determination that is unmovable. He'd do anything to protect his packmates, even if it meant he wouldn't make it out alive.
On the surface, Recon puts up a cold exterior, walls built to protect his heart from those around him. It's not uncommon for his packmates to think they pissed him off, when in all reality, he just has a resting bitch face and is usually content. His rough facade of stoic indifference is a defense mechanism, a way to keep everyone at arm's length and protect himself from the pain of getting close with someone, only to be hurt in the end. It's a mask he seems to wear effortlessly, but beneath it all, it weighs on him like a ton of bricks. Along with using the ice to keep himself safe, he also uses it to conceal the depth of his suffering, the amount of pain he goes through daily along, and his deep rooted self loathing.
And yet, beneath his hardened exterior lies an ocean of kindness and love for Recon to offer. This gentleness is a rare and precious gift, revealed only in moments of trust and vulerability. Although when it's necessary, his touch is gentle, words soothing and empowering, as he tries to build his packmates up and offer comfort in hard times. It's in these fleeting moments that his true personality makes an appearance, the true depth of his compassion and love for his packmates shines through, a stark contrast to his otherwise stoic and commanding demeanor.
Recon's tough exterior and unwavering focus have left him terribly unversed in the art of flirting along with most socializing. His attempts at showing a romantic interest are nonexistant, mostly involving him refusing to go talk to that wolf and stumbling over his words when talking with her. The bumbling pup that rears it's head in the face of affection is a stark contrast to his typical calculated demeanor. Despite this, Recon longs for genuine connection, a desire that eats at him in the quiet moments he has to himself. He dreams of finding someone who can see past his hardened facade, his scars, both physical and emotional, someone who can understand an accept both his strengths and vulnerabilities. Someone who will be there for him while he's having an epileptic episode. But this yearning for affection, however, is tempered by a fear of exposing his deepest scars, being vulernable, and being hurt, making the search for love another battlefield for him to traverse, constantly attempting to dodge the landmines.
If given the chance, Recon is a force to be reckoned with in the leadership department. His presence commands respect, his voice a frightening call of authority he doesnt have. He'd lead with an iron will, believing that an alpha or beta's command should be followed without question or hesitation. He knows when to be firm, when to push hard, but also when to stop and lend a paw for support. He hopes that one day he could be a beta, with his pack following him, not out of obligation, but out of respect for the canine he is.
Recon's loyalty to Merlin is unwavering, and it isnt just about his duty, it's founded on respect. He sees Merlin not only as his alpha, but also as his comrad, someone he can fight beside and know that his back is covered. This loyalty has brought on unwavering supoort, a readiness to follow Merlin's lead, and if needed, a fierce determination to protect his alpha.
Despite his many strengths, Recon is plauged by profound self-loathing. He's his own harshest critic, judge and jury that focuses on his flaws and failures. Every short coming feels like he's lost another battle, he let his pack down again. This inner turmoil is a constant, gnawing presence, reminding him of how he watched his sister die, pinned to the floor by a violent seizure brought on by the fear and adrenaline rush of a fight. He was stuck there for five minutes before his body began relaxing and he tried to pull his thoughts back together. The condition is a cruel reminder of his vulnerability, a weakness he despises with every fiber of his being, and of how at any moment, just a kick of adreneline could leave him incapacitated. Unable to protect his packmates. Letting them all down.
The memory of his sister, Liberty, is a haunting presence, a ghost that lingers in his thoughts at all hours of the day. Her death at the claws of a bobcat is a nightmare that repeats on a constant loop, a wound that will never heal. Her death is the root of his self-hatred, knowing Recon's condition was what caused her death. If he had just been normal, if he didn't have that damned disability, she'd still be alive. Her loss has forged a deep sense of protectiveness in him, driving him to the brink of obsession in his efforts to keep those he loves safe. This instinct is fierce, an unbreakable vow carved into his bones, his soul.
However, this battle with self-loathing and epilepsy also has ignited a fierce determination within him. Recon refuses to be defined or limited by his condition, pushing himself to the brink to prove his worth. His resilience is a testament to his character, a fire that burns brightly even in the darkest of times.

Other: I cant decide on my favorite dog breed, either a malinois, cane corso, or pitbull. You can just call me Reaper by the way! Also, Recon's seizures are mainly triggered by an adrenaline rush or a high level of excitement.
