Deirdre || Fire Dragon || M: Michael and Surrounding Organisms Welp, she'd killed her human. It had taken, what, ten seconds? Then bam, he'd collapsed. Deirdre's heart lurched and she promptly placed her muzzle up against his chest, her slitted pupils contracting even further with worry. Oh -- oh, good, there was breathing. He wasn't dead. Deirdre raised her head and paused, recalling that humans could have adverse reactions to the bonding process that were more severe than a dragon's. Perhaps because they were so small? Deirdre thought better of attempting to pump air back into Michael; her talons, and the size of her feet in general, would certainly do more damage than good. So, instead, she gave him a little bit of distance and waited anxiously for him to come alive again. She sent a glowering stare at the young man who had laughed at the situation, but she did nothing more than that. Burning Mircea into a set of Ederian barbecued ribs wouldn't accomplish much, now, would it? Her attention was jerked back to Michael as he began breathing faster before finally opening his eyes -- only to close them again a moment later. Had Deirdre come on too strong? Did her emotional charge have an effect on how he took the bond? Actually, that would be an interesting theory to test... but that wasn't important right now. The large dragon took a few steps closer once she was certain that her rider had regained consciousness. At a noise that sounded something like a strangled laugh or cry, she poked her head into his personal space and looked him over for signs of injury. No... he looked okay. Michael stood up and didn't topple over again, so Deirdre took the moment to poke him lightly with her muzzle as he looked around. Through the bond, she said slowly, I am Deirdre. I apologize for... well, how the bond affected you. I did not know it could come so strong. But you are small. Deirdre furrowed her brows, then, and tilted her head. Well... small for me. Not for a human. You are a very nicely sized human. That was a compliment, right? No matter. If he could catch her feelings through the bond, then hopefully he would understand what exactly she meant. Perhaps he was embarrassed; Deirdre was getting mixed signals from the poor boy. Wow, she had really pushed the whole "fire dragons are fierce and direct" stereotype right there. She made a mental note to work on that.

Michael Evans - Rider - 18 - Male - Mentions: Deirdre, Riders (indirect), Dragons (indirect)
"I am Deirdre. I apologize for... well, how the bond affected you. I did not know it could come so strong. But you are small.
"Well.. small for me. Not for a human. You are a very nicely sized human."
As the words echoed through his head, Michael was now aware of a link there, a bond. Now that he had regained his faculties, for the most part, he did remember seeing somewhere about the mental bond between riders and their dragons. He was very aware of Deirdre's muzzle so close to him, having felt her lightly poke him a few moments before. He took a moment to reorganize his thoughts into something more coherent- wait, can bonds also transmit emotions between the two? Because he was feeling something like that coming from the mental link. While aware of it, he searched for that link, and found it.
He hoped he was going to do this correctly, through the bond, he said, It's okay, I don't think it was the bond that made me pass out, I could be wrong, but I appreciate the sentiment all the same, he paused for a moment, unsure how to respond to the size...compliment? Finally he said: uh, thanks? He stopped there, before he remembered it would be probably rude not to give his name in return. My name is Michael Evans, nice to meet you Deirdre.
From the proximity of the dragon, a part of him noticed that she smelled like smoke, which made a lot of sense; but not straight smoke. It was something that brought the image of a fire burning in a forest, pine perhaps? Don't get him wrong, it wasn't an unpleasant scent.
He looked away. Maybe it was a deep seated instinct of his. Or maybe from the habit of taking a glance at those around him. Head turning in the direction of Mircea, whom he thought looked amused. He'd be getting teased for the fainting spell later. No doubt about it. A flash of annoyance zipped through him at the thought, and he narrowed his eyes slightly in his direction, before he turned his attention back to the large dragon. Despite himself, he felt a little nervous being around such a large animal; logically, he knew that she would probably not harm him, but his instincts were trying to tell him otherwise. He didn't want to be nervous around his dragon, but again, the primal part of him did not like being around something that could easily kill him without thinking about it.
At the moment, that calculating look that is so often seen in his eyes was gone. And he resisted the urge to rub the back of his neck awkwardly, or uneasily. He resisted the urge to run or do something, and he made himself stand still. He didn't know what to do now; usually he was not like htis, but this was a circumstance he had never thought himself being in, and it he surely wasn't to blame for not being on his best composure at the moment.

Agneya Fire Dragon | Female | Mentions: Hiroshi The female gave a squinting look at the human as he began to speak. She watched him in curiosity as he began to fumble around in his pockets for something. So it appears he had a gift for her, this pleased her . Her human had been thoughtful enough to bestow a gift upon her, so her face began to slowly soften at the thought of it. She wondered what gift he had gotten her, and to her surprise it was a necklace. It was very pretty, the peral that dangled from the chain glistened quite prettily. The female lowered her neck to inspect the gift, and a rumble akin to a purr escaped her. It was a sign of her being content with the gift. Even her throat scales began to give of a soft red glow, one that happened when she was happy. And they began to glow even more as he complemented her scales, hmmm so he could flatter her. She gave her human a small appreciative smile. Thank you for my gift, she said as she looked at it. I really like it, and I think it would look quite nice on me. It's very pretty! And that's understandable, but you should really focus on your own dragon - The First Ride should be beginning soon as it seems everyone has met and become acquainted with their dragon. Are you excited for your first ride? She then lowered her head and said, You may place your gift around my neck if you'd please. And yes, my name is Agneya - Little Rider.

Aeolus | Air Dragon | 250 | Male | Mentions: Hartley, Other Dragons (ind.) , Other Riders (ind.) The dragon watched his human in curiosity. His human was definitely adorable in his opinion. The way his hair was wild and free, and the look in his eyes when he had preened over his hair. He definitely would adore this little guy for all his life. A small rumble of affection came from him as he watched the boy look at him in astonishment. What a peculiar little guy, he didn't seem that frighted as others would've been - though he had screamed in shock at being picked up. He gently used his tail to push the boy closer to his side as to comfort him in some manner. He didn't need him to get too overwhelmed by everything. His head tilted a bit - much akin to an owl as he watched his human. Ah, yes, his human, that had a nice ring to it. What an exciting time, he finally had found his little human. He watched in concern when the young boy had put his hand to his temples, and grimaced a bit. Oh dear, he thought to himself, so the mental link is a bit painful to humans. However what shocked him was the sound of his voice coming clearly from the young boy. He didn't even sound in pain nor did he stutter. He sounded quite confident and comfortable and a sense of glee washed over him through the link to his human and he rested his head on the ground and listened to the boy's sweet voice. Hartley Russel Barns. He said through the link, trying the name in his mouth, it was a very fine name and suited then boy well. His eyes sparkled at the mention of his name, Why yes, my mother saw how quick I was in the air and thought the name it suited me. Also because I like flying against the faster air currents - higher up in the sky and even in storms. I think I'll call you Curlytop, my dear little Rider. And your mother seems like an amazing woman, do you have any family here among the other humans here? He then looked at his human in amusement as he said he'd walk through fire for him and he gave a chuckle out loud before looking at his human in a teasing manner, "You don't have to say that to please me. You are just a child, I have been alive longer than you - and it's my job as your dragon to protect you. The day you are old enough and bold enough to say it with confidence will be when I believe you - but for now I'm the one who'll protect you, curlytop ." And he gave the human a small nudge. He watched with excitement as the boy went through his gifts. The first thing the boy touched was the fang necklace, and he could see the excitement in his eyes, and a sense of pride washed over Aeolus as he watched him put it around his neck. It looks quite nice on him Aeolus thought beaming as he looked on. Then human asked him where he got it with curiosity. It's a long story I'll have to tell you. But let's just say I won the fight. A rather smug expression appeared on his face. You see he had won a fight against an angry fire dragon as he was on his travels, and he took the teeth that he knocked off the dragon as a memory of the fight, however the center tooth of the necklace was his tooth that he lost because he had been rather cocky in said fight. His thoughts were interrupted when he heard the boy say, "Wow". He could practically feel the excitement of the young boy as he looked through the books. So his human was a bookworm, eh? Looks like he'd have to get his human more books.
I got that from a scholar in my travels. He exchanged those books for my help with a task. He informed his human as the young boy poured over the books, very much so interested. He didn't expect the boy to hug him, and so his spikes fanned out in shock a bit yet he flattened them and wrapped his neck around his human to hug him back. His human look rather embarrassed that he didn't have a gift, but Aeolus only smiled saying, That's alright. You'll probably find something for me later on. He then listened to interest as his human said he did have a gift but he left it down. He scowled as he watched the chaos below. His young human was going to get trampled if he went down alone. So he gently picked up his human and set him on a comfortable position on him and he repacked the satchel and gave it to the human gingerly. We're not flying, I am just putting you on me so you don't get trampled by the other dragons, because some seem a bit too excited and careless around humans. He said rather annoyed, he bristled at the thought of something happening to Hartley. Hold on tight, and I won't go fast. He began to walk slowly down the hill, a normal pace so he wouldn't frighten his cargo. He then picked up the pace just a tad bit, and soon he found the abandoned satchel. Books splayed on the ground and were those, muffins? I believe this is your stop little guy, and he let his wing down. So the boy could slide down it and retrieve his items. Dan | Fire Dragon | 100 | Male | M: Roxanne, Mircea (ind) Dan the dragon? Why Dan? This wasn’t the first time Dan’s name had been questioned and there was a time not too long ago when he himself asked his mother why he was named Dan. “We spun a wheel, sweetheart” was the answer his mother told him. According to Dad, they did it for all their children. However, his siblings got cool names like Hephaestus, Bedelia, and Ainu. Well, almost all his siblings. There was Todd, but no one really talks about him. Not after the cigar incident. “Uh,” He twisted his jaw in thought so that a couple of his teeth poked out. “Well….” Did he really want his rider to know that his family chooses names based off of a carnival game? “My mom said that she and dad wrote little boy dragon names on a wheel split into eighths. Then Momma spun it around while Dad blew fire at it. The name that survived my dad would be my name. Dan won.” Can you…turn it on and off? The hotness? Dan scratched his chin with one of his scaly paws. He hadn’t really thought about that. He just blew poofs out whenever he could. He didn’t think about temperatures. Now, Bedelia, his sister, would’ve and she probably did measure how hot she could go and Dan just wasn’t paying attention. It was a pity that she wasn’t here to show him. “Well, I don’t really know,” Dan answered honestly. “I mean, I can be running hot and not breathe fire but I don’t know if I could control the temperature if you wanted it at a specific degree. I suppose I could learn if you want me to.” He didn’t know where he would learn it since his sister was miles away, but he didn’t want his rider to be scared of him. “I...suppose. If the bad human apologizes or makes up for their mistakes, they can become good.” These words began the shift of Dan’s outlook on people. They did, after all, come from a good, trusted human. They were also Mircea’s salvation, a slow one but salvation nevertheless. He was a bad human, but Roxanne had presented a way for him to be good. However, how could someone shift from all that badness into goodness? It didn’t make complete sense to him. A bad thing is a bad thing. A good thing is a good thing. There was no bridge between those gaps that he knew of. He remembered the worst being that he knew of. Todd. Todd was a very bad dragon and Momma tried so hard to make him good. He said that he was good, but he was actually bad because he ate other dragons and smoked trees, which he called cigars. That day Dan learned that bad people will often call themselves good. “But bad is bad and good is good…” Dan’s lizardy face was scrunched up in a bit of confusion. “That’s just how the world works.” That’s how the globe spins, right? “Sometimes bad people will call themselves good, but they are actually still bad.” He decided to add this bit of wisdom just in case it would help. “They can be good liars, too. I got tricked by a bad dragon pretending to be good. He ate all my cloudpuffs.” He distinctly remembered that. Cloudpuffs were his absolute favorite sweet treat as a hatchling and Todd scoffed them all down when he was the seeker in hide-n-seek. Todd was the worst. He frowned at the thought of his older brother making him look rather childish. It was odd to see a dragon stick out his lower lip. He came back to when Roxanne mentioned gifts. “Huh, oh no, I like the little toothpick thing. A lot of times food will get stuck in my teeth and I’m fairly hopeless to get it out.” He opened his mouth to show her his tongue. “Thee? Ma uhgh esn’t exable.” He shut his jaw. “So I can’t pick it out very well.” Dan’s stomach began to gurgle thunder again. “Oi, do you think we could stop by a restaurant? I’m hungry. What’s your favorite food and do you have any places you’d recommend? I’m not a picky eater. Also, do you know exactly how the ceremony part works? I’m afraid I’ll get a bit nervous and would like to know if I need to make a speech.”

Vivienne Moore Rider | 17 | F | M: Vasuki, Mira, Rinecess Vivienne found it entertaining the way Vasuki sat, inspecting her hair. She was still quite amazed at the way their bond worked, as his voice boomed in her head, happy with the name Vasuki and Vivienne. After she had finished placing the amulet on his horn, grateful she had chosen the correct spot and he hadn't eaten her. The girl sat criss-cross on the ground really taking in the sight of her dragon for the first time, since she had really only focused on his face during their initial match. Vasuki was quite the massive dragon, though the two things that caught her eye at first glance were his tails and the skull upon his head. It was a sight she hadn't witnessed before on another dragon and was curious to ask why he wore it, though stopped the thought when he asked her more about how she tied the necklace. I believe it's referred to as a highpoint hitch knot, it's sturdy though when you pull one end of the chain it comes loose. The knot was one of the few types she knew how to do, though it did come in handy. Vivienne was rather distracted when Vasuki announced it was time to meet the others. It was as if the ground shook when he landed on all fours, and he ducked his head so fast she didn't realize what was happening, just that she was in the air. She had been scooped up but caught a bit of air before landing back on the dark dragon, except… She was facing backward. Vivienne let out a gasp as she wrapped her arms around his neck, she tried to do the same with her legs, but it was difficult as she bounced up and down. Now, this must have been a sight to see, Vivienne holding on for dear life facing one way, with her dragon running off facing the other. Her grip started to give way and she slid to the base of his neck, still wobbling around as Vasuki ran through the crowd of people. The girl's adrenaline was pumping as she slid more towards his back and was soon able to twist herself into a position where she was facing forward, completely unsure of how she managed the feat. He had run to the light dragon and her rider, seeming to be good friends before he allowed her to slide off his back. Landing on the ground her knees gave out momentarily, though she was able to regain her balance before completely face-planted in front of the light dragon and her rider. She did a tiny wave towards the girl and her dragon, watching Vasuki show his new gift to the light dragon he called Mira. The mood seemed to shift as Vasuki examined the other rider, giving her a bit of a side-eye. The dragon sounded upset when he saw the light dragon had also received a gift, which Viv found a tad confusing considering she didn't know their relationship yet, nor much of her dragon's personality. She gave him a little pat on the neck in an attempt to comfort him once he frowned in response to it.

Terra Wild-Heart | 17 | female | rider | Isabel | M: Lira, Isabel, Dawn (ind.), OPEN Terra sighed as her sister tan off. With such a head start, Terra had no chance at winning. So instead, Terra walked with Isabel, deciding to learn more about her dragon. A small crowd had formed around the water dragon. "Hey, give her some space." The crowd parted to let Terra through, but Terra had to chase a few overly excited kids away. "Sorry about that. Wait, what is this?" How was Terra speaking without moving her mouth? "Can you hear, dammit!" Terra couldn't do it anymore. What had that been, had she simply imagined the link? Looking around, Terra saw that there were dragons and riders exchanging gifts. Was she supposed to give Isabel a gift? Terra quickly checked her pockets, but found only a flower given to her by some boy from the previous day. "Um, I'm not quite sure how this works. Am I supposed to give you something?" Edited at May 31, 2022 07:12 PM by Dark Moon

Calemira Light Dragon | Female | Mentions: Rinecess, Vasuki, Vivienne
The light dragon offered the young woman a soft smile, before placing her cover upon her eyes again to save them from the intensity of the sun. She was grateful the human didn't decide upon taking her cover, as her eyes were far too sensitive to the sun to keep them uncovered.
Immediately Calemira's eyes locked onto the piece of gold jewelry extended to her and she wriggled in glee. The dragoness loved her gold, there was no doubt about that. The membrane of her wings rippled gently in approval, and she reached out gently, running a claw along the delicate pieces of the piece. She admired it quietly and then extended that same foot and nodded gently.
"Go ahead, I probably would break it if I tried to put it on myself right now," she couldn't hide the eagerness in her voice, but her attention was drawn slightly to the side as a larger figure emerged beside her. Or more so just appeared. Vasuki had a habit of approaching quickly, so one second he wasn't there and the next he was. It was something she had grown accustom to and it bothered her little.
"Vasuki," she greeted, her eyes closing in content as she basked in his presence for a moment, though her eyes snapped open to flick to the human who had joined with him. Her eyes narrowed a degree and she found her tail flicking behind her, slamming into the ground with mild force. Though she said nothing for the moment, letting her gaze settle on the thing now wrapped around one of the horns of his skull.
"It's lovely, Vasuki," she said quietly, though it tickled her a bit that he had allowed someone so new to even come so close to his helmet, let alone put something they gave him on it. A disgruntled feeling simmered in her gut and it caused her nostrils to flare, a flash of light emitting from her slightly in telltale warning.
When Vasuki's own words over her new gift and his general mild disdain for her human came to her realization, a deep hiss vibrated in her chest, sounding much too aggressive for such a small dragon. Her lips rippled back to reveal pearly ivories and the female rocked forward so that she could push to all fours. Significantly shorter or not, the female didn't tone her momentary aggression towards Vasuki, and pinned him with a look of both annoyance and disapproval.
"You're time away from others has made you lose your manners, Vasuki," she scolded gently, though her voice was sharp. The little light dragon wasn't intimdated by her beloved in the slightest. "You don't have to like it, but you don't have to be rude, my dear. You didn't see me getting snarky that you let someone else adorn your precious helmet, did you?" Her pink eyes were narrowed behind the sheer material of her eye cover, locked on the larger male's own. Her tail curled in the air behind her to show her growing agitation and her wings puffed out a bit.
While her attention was fully on him for a moment, it took mere seconds for her eyes to snap back over to the human he brought over when she touched him, patting him gently as if to calm him. Something about it boiled the petite female and she hissed lowly in warning, her wings extending a bit as she began to glow more steadily now.
Was she being a bit irrational? Yes. But the light dragon struggled with her emotions right now, and they often would flip back and forth over the smallest thing. Was she being possessive? Yes, absolutely. It has just been her and him for so long that anyone touching him, even a measley human felt foul and detestable. Was she being a bit aggressive towards his rider in response to his reaction to her own? Probably. But none of that really mattered to Calemira as mind imagined removing the skin from the girl's hand where it had touched Vasuki's scales.
