Whistler / Wind / Female / Mentions: other dragons, Peter

Whistler let out a high pitched noise, a clod of wet dirt the size of her eye plopping out of one of the pits in her head as she tried to force air out.

The sky was so close...! The wind was a balm on her dry skin, ruffling against dusty feathers, though the breath she drew in was tinged with smoke.

Whistler couldn't risk getting injured _now_, not when she got through the collapse of the stables with barely a scrape. Peter needed help, the poor boy was constantly getting hurt.

Apopis
°
"Ao" [] Male [] Venom Dragon [] M: Fathom
°
Ao sighed in relief. Fathom had actually decided to listen to him. Apopis rose up go his full height.. which wasn't even close to tall, as he pulled his snout out from under the wind dragons claws. He glanced over to what Fathom was looking at, a gap in the rubble. Ao knew that he would fly off as soon as he got the chance, most dragons would. Walking up to Fathom, he sat directly in front of him. "I understand, just promise you'll be easy on it-? Try to stay off this claw. Avoid any fights alright?" He watched Fathoms expression as he spoke.
°
Apopis stood again, not at full height, but not fully crouched either. He walked towards the gap, hoping to get in line, and motioned Fathom with his head to follow. "Also... I need a favor from you.." he remarked as he glanced at his wings, flapping them a bit in a flying motion. "They're not exactly the best at... taking off. Do you think I could get a boost-?"
°
Looking back at Fathom with a look not far from that of a puppy's, he gave him a slight pout. He really did need help taking off, but he mainly just wanted more time with the dragon.

Jasper Sterling
Rider // Female // M: Peter, Akhen, Beo, and Whistler (Squeakler)

"Whoa Peter!" Jasper yelped in surprise as the deaf man started dragging her out of the ruined room.

Rubble was left laying on the hall, broken furniture stuck out from the stone debris. Jasper's leg crashed into a broken table, but she didn't stop, well couldn't stop. Peter kept dragging her on, with his fist clutched around her wrist. His grip was surprisingly strong, stronger than what Jasper would have expected from such a small, little guy.

In a puffy voice she had to ask, "Where are we going?" But the young woman's question was soon answered when the mountain, that held the dragons, loomed into sight. It wasn't just any mountain though, inside probably held some of the meanest dragons on the whole campus, and one of them went by.

Akhenaten.

Guessing that the mission was to retrieve Peter's dragon, Jasper might have to bring her big oaf along too. Man, she was not looking to be an appetizer at this moment.

By this point in time, Jasper's hand was starting to lose circulation, which made her fingers tingle a bit. She wiggled her sweaty hand, breaking free from Peter's grasp, than she sped up reaching about the same speed Peter was running. His bell rang wildly as he desperately made his way closer and closer to Squeakler.

The chances of the dragons being trapped was high. By the looks of things, the mountain seemed to have been attacked. It looked deformed and unstable, but sure enough a giant fire class dragon, made his way out.

"I believe the entrance is over there," she said pointing at where the dragon had came.

Akenaten
Venom Dragon | Male | Mentions: Raija

The male should have known his mate, his dearest, frustrating mate, would not make things easy and simply do as he suggestion. He really should have known, and because of that when she dug in her heels and instead told him to go first he was not at all surprised. A sigh, a mixture of defeat and frustration clear in it's tone, escaped his lips and he closed his eyes again. Part of him wanted to throttle the female and then physically toss her outside, but that would be no help to himself or the rest of them when the rocks came tumbling down.

"Very well," he resigned, his eyes narrowing a degree further than they already were. "But I'm only going outside to ensure the coast is clear for you and that you are safe when exiting. You come out whenever you decide, but you come out." His voice, while not angry was serious, showing her not coming out and getting trapped inside again was not an option.

Shaking himself his scales rattled against each other, the male swiveled around and moved as quickly as he could through the opening in the entrance. He winced as sharp rocks clawed at the scales of his body and the membranes of his wings, but he otherwise paid no mine to them.

When he exited to the cave, taking in the smoke clogged air he grumbled softly at the sight of the academy burning. He hadn't been happy about being here, being paired with a human, however, he felt it pathetic to attack them in away where it wasn't possible for them to defend themselves. Humans were such cowardly and little creatures, completely unworthy of their vast existence.

"It's clear, I guess," he called to the others, though most Raija, while his eyes took in the flames dancing among the crumbled buildings. "But I would move fast, the more we dilly daddle, the less time to get away we will have," his voice, it's ever harsh tone, had darkned, knowing that things weren't over. No. Humans were blood thirsty, petty little things. He doubted they would willingly allow any survivors of the academy live long.

Fergus Murdoch & Maisie Bennett
Dragon Riders | Male & Female | Mentions: Sedna, Dragons, Open

Fergus nodded gently at Sedna and physically bounced in place for a second, seemingly preparing himself to run. "Gotcha, I'll grab what I can, and bring it back for you two, and Jasper if I can. If I see your brother I'll let him know you're okay, and where to find you," he added on, knowing Kaia, their squad leader, would likely want to know about their brother and vice versa.

Without another word, and no time to second guess himself, Fergus took off, jogging towards the building that the armory resided in, hoping he would be able to reach it and get their things out. He wasn't sure what exactly he could all grab, but he made a mental note to grab whatever he could for the people had had seen: Maze, Sedna, Jasper, and Himself.

While Fergus jogged away, his fire like hair disappearing into the clouded night, Maze turned her attention to Sedna and nodded faintly. "I suppose," was her answer, and she wasn't going to hide that she wasn't thrilled about the idea. Every self preservation instinct she had was screaming at her to get out. "But we shouldn't stay long, the rest of the building could come down any second and I'm not keen on being caught inside when it does," she said simply, rolling her shoulders and nodding at him before heading down the hallway. She started simply by going room to room and checking for anyone inside, spending little more than a few seconds doing it.

"If anyone can hear me call out!" She'd call a few times, but not enough to drown out anyone who could call back or for help.

Fathom
Wind Class // Male // M: Apopis, Juniper, and others

Akhenaten made his way through the narrow passage. His sharp claws scraped against the stone, making Fathom cringe a bit. The noise was somewhat similar to talons on a chalkboard.

The big beast made it out and called for the clear, and without hesitation Fathom nuzzled the snake- like dragon up the jagged opening.
"Hurry... please," Fathom couldn't imagine what kind of trouble Juniper could be in, what if he was already too late? By all means Juniper could be dead by now. Fathom didn't even know where Juniper was!
Closing his eyes and crossing his talons, including the injured one, Fathom concentrated on a simple sentence, a sentence that shouldn't take too much effort to respond to.

Juniper, where are you!

Not only was the sentence just a question, it was also a bit of hope that his rider might still be alive.
Oh Juniper, please be alright.

Juniper | Demi-boy (he/they) | 17 | Rider

M: Ming + Fathom (dir)

Juniper curled pitifully into a ball as their eyes watered from smoke and from emotion.

Oh my Gods… I’m going to die.

They could now feel the pain at the bottom of their feet and the pain in their arm.

All the animals… all my siblings… Ma and Pa… I’m going to die without saying goodbye.

They could barely focus their eyes as the adrenaline was now wearing off as they looked towards the hole in the roof from where they fell.

I’m sorry, I’m so sorry…!

Their tears left streaks on their face, washing away some of the ash and dust that had covered their face. As Juniper looked up at the hole in the roof, he prayed. He did not want to give up yet but his lungs begged for air that he did not have. He just needed a little help, a savior, a— Wait, what was that?

Above the hole, Juniper could see someone’s silhouette standing above him and looking down at him like an angel. Just as soon as the silhouette appeared, it fell. He could distantly hear the figure colliding with the ground before calling out his name. Juniper didn’t think any of this was even real until he heard a distinct sound of metal hitting the wooden floorboards before skidding across the floor, just into the range of visibility Juniper had. It was Juniper’s mask.

Like a stray scrounging for sustenance, Juniper’s hands lunged and clawed desperately for the mask whose gold glint shimmered from the hot fire above them. Whimpering, Juniper’s fingers only just barely grazed the mask which was just out of his reach. Forcing himself to dig his nails into the wooden floor boards, his open wound on his arm being further scraped with shards of wood and small splinters as he pulled himself a little closer to his mask with his good arm outstretched and trying to reach his mask.

Please, please, please, ple— Yes!!

Juniper snatched the mask and pulled it back to his face, not bothering to put the straps to secure it properly to his head as he pulled the string on the side. Within mere milliseconds, the machine whirred to life. The mask gave off a green glow as fresh air filled his lungs and Juniper breathed in cool breaths of air. With air being brought back to him, Juniper forgot how good it felt to have clean air while huddled around the mask and pulling their shaking hands close to their chest. Closing their eyes, the tears dried on their faces as they laughed quietly at the idea of still being alive. Adjusting their glasses, the world grew clearer in focus and Juniper’s eyes widened with horror.

“Ming!” Juniper screached, his voice harsh and scratched from the ash as he rushed to his roommate’s limp body with his leg trapped beneath scaffolding. Grabbing Ming’s shoulder, Juniper tried to stir his roommate and shake him from whatever spell had taken over him. “Ming! Ming, you gotta wake up!” The smell of burning wood and flesh stung in his nose even with the mask and Juniper looked around the closet briefly to see anything that could help before— ah-ha! “Don’t worry, Ming, I got you!” After putting on heavy duty gardener gloves from a nearby shelf, Juniper quickly lifted the heavy beam. Even with the gloves, his hands felt like they were roasting in their own ovens as he used his foot to pull Ming out of the way. As soon as Juniper managed to kick Ming out of the way (gently, of course), Juniper dropped the beam, sending embers flying upwards before quickly flicking off the gloves.

After helping Ming, everything burned. His arm stung after a beam landed on him, the bottoms of his feet hissed with each step after using them to shove the beam off him, his lungs were still sore from being strained so much, and now his hands shook from having to hold up the scaffolding wood for so long. As Juniper caught his breath for a moment, Juniper noticed his satchel which Ming must have brought down with him along with his mask. Groaning, Juniper leaned against one of the walls as he grabbed his satchel and rummaged through it. Under herbs, his goat horn, his journal, and other important things, Juniper had at least some cotton and bandaging. When Juniper discovered it, he forgot how thin the bandaging was, but as he began quickly wrapping his feet and hands so they were a bit more bearable to use. With a hefty sigh, Juniper looked at their roommate. Ming’s leg was gravely hurt it seemed and— as Juniper tapped his cheek several times— it was clear he was not waking up.

Now, with the fire from above beginning to spread into the janitor’s closet, Juniper did not have time to wait for Ming to wake up anymore. Juniper scooped Ming up in their arms before walking to the door— with great pain mind you— and attempting to open the door which was, of course, locked. Juniper glared at the door, and, instead of taking a deep breath and approaching the situation in a better lighting, Juniper thrust their shoulder into the door. When the door did not budge, he did it again and again and— with a final strong shove, the hinges from the door sprung out and finally gave way, nearly causing Juniper to tumble forward with Ming in their arms.

As Juniper left the closet, their heart lodged itself in his throat as he looked around in shock.

“This cannot be happening…,” Juniper mumbled, wishing they had just stayed in the janitor’s closet as the whole school burned down around Ming and Juniper. Wood was being eaten away by hot blazes while ash littered the floor. Just being in the building left Juniper’s skin feeling like it was melting off and Juniper was sure that these were not going to be the best conditions for Ming to wake up in.

Then, he heard the voice of his dragon in his mind.

Fathom!” Juniper was smiling gleefully now despite the hell-ish conditions he was in. He could feel quite a bit of distance between himself and his dragon so it took quite a bit of concentration to reach Fathom, but Fathom’s voice was one of the only things that he could trust. “I am alright; I’m in the school with my roommate, Ming— you remember him right?— who is really hurt. Where are you and the dragons? Are you hurt?? Do you know anything about that loud explosion maybe?!

Peter M. Evans || 17 || M || Rider || M: Jasper, Dragons (ind).

With vibrant emerald eyes scanning--watching every thing that seemed to move, he hardly paid attention to Jasper until she pulled her wrist from his tight grasp. That was when he paused to glance over, mostly to make sure that the other dragon rider was still alright. She kept pace with his long-legged stride, much to his vague surprise.

As the mountain loomed into sight, his gaze narrowed. Large boulders crumpled the entrance that usually had gaped wide with awe. That... that meant there was a problem. They would have to rescue the dragons.

As he turned to try and communicate that thought, he realized Jasper had been saying something. Well... her mouth was moving. She pointed toward the mountain as a large beast erupted from the rubble and boulders.

One of them was freed.

If one was free, then the others would soon be coming.

Without much thought, he looked toward Jasper, gesturing between the two of them and then placing an open fist on his palm and pushing it forward--almost like the first motion he had made in a desperate attempt to plead for help.

This time, it was supposed to convey; "we help."

But they couldn't do much without the other riders. The others were more than necessary for aiding them in rescuing the dragons.

His emerald gaze began to sweep around the rubble of the school.

Whistler / Wind / Female / Mentions: Dragons, Peter

Whistler, unable to hold still any longer, scrambled out of the stone tunnel. Sharp rocks scraped her dry scales, though it did little more than pull a few feathers, and her mane protected her belly from the worst of the edges.

She shot out of the collapsed stable and took to the sky, her shrill whistle dampened still. The wind dragon managed to ignore her poor bedraggled feathers and stuffed, aching snout in favour of heading towards the human lodgings, her red eyes scanning for Peter's messy mop of hair. The sooner she found her rider, the sooner things would make sense again. Whistler wasn't used to communicating telepathically and didn't even think to attempt contacting Peter that way.

Sedna Nurul Seelen
Dragon Rider | Male | Mentions: Fergus, Maisie, Rhyhor

The man nodded to Fergus, watching him go for only a moment before looking back at Maze. He knew that she was unimpressed, but he didn't have a choice. Being inside and without a goal was obviously affecting Fergus, and Sedna couldn't ask him to stay any longer. Not when he could be doing things like getting the saddles ready for when, hopefully, the dragons got out. Gods know what they'd do if the dragons were trapped and they needed the riders' help to get out.

"Just one lap through the occupied dorms," he said, taking off at a jog to catch up with Maze. Safety in numbers went unspoken with a person like Maze, or at least he assumed. She seemed smart, a survivalist at heart and in the mind. The more dragons they had willing to fight for them, the more likely they were to make it out alive. He was willing to risk a little time to make sure more of them got out of the encounter.

Sedna kept his eyes open for any movement, kept listening for any sound that would mean someone had survived. It was this that gave him the moment he needed to move away from the wall next to him as a loud crash sounded, and a vibrant blue glow filled the hallway. He looked up to see what remained of the ceiling and wall giving way beneath a large grey dragon, horns and spikes glowing. The reptiles powerful legs and tail ripped parts of the wall down in his, frankly desperate-looking, attempt at getting into the hallway.

He did his best to move out of the way, moving back and away from Maze, debris from the dragons chaotic entrance falling against his body. He managed to avoid most of the ones that would crush him, bumping into a few as he moved, but couldn't avoid the bruises and cuts. Particularly, a long slice across his right thigh that had him stumbling and crying out. He fell against one of the larger pieces of debris, his hands on the wound, ignoring any others he'd gotten. It didn't seem deep, but was bleeding more than he'd like in a situation like this.

Sedna looked up, halfway through a yell of warning to Maze, when he saw the grey dragon reach for her and carry her out. It must have been her own dragon, Rhyhor, if he'd grabbed the girl and left.
