Xola || 6 || Female || Wolf || Eastern Medic || M: Shadow, Icicle (Ind), Illusion (Ind), Violet (Ind), Oreithya, Killjoy (Ind), Rags

“I failed.”

Those haunting words flowed their way into her ears like the eerie song of a great horned owl – a melodic yet haunting sound – causing her to give pause in her motions, one paw stilling hanging in mid step. Her ears flick back at their sounding, and her heart sinks to the bottom of her chest. A bucket of freezing water may as well have been dumped over her entire form, turning her into a living block of ice.

Placing her paw down, she turns to face the speaker (who she could just barely make out to be Shadow) only to see his tail flicker out of view as he exits the den. Icicle trailed behind him, but she did not care too much about that. Her striking honey-amber eyes stay locked on the area, filled with pain and shock.

The female paid little mind to the new male that entered the den during this time, but a grimace and flinch could be seen at the prospect of a new issue arising within the pack. However, her darling apprentice stepped up to the task before she could even think about lending the male and his mate some aid. It was an offer she just barely picked up on between her racing mind, but one that she was immensely grateful for. With a small flick of her tail and a thankful glint in her eyes, she dismisses her apprentice to go and deal with the problem.

With a small and shaky breath, her mind turns back to the spot she had been staring at all this time. Had… had she caused that? Was she the one to blame for such a response? She had not seen exactly what had happened, but she had a decent idea of what that was. And it wasn’t any good. Echoing – or, rather confirming – her thoughts, Oreithya speaks from behind her. Her ears flatten further at their resonance, ashamed to have done such a thing. Inadvertent or not.

“Yes… I believe I have…” the medic’s voice was meek, borderline sorrowful, and nearly impossible to hear. But, her frosted counterpart was likely able to pick up on it.

Hurt blossoms in her chest at the thought of possibly harming another, followed by an overwhelming sense of disgust. But, she pushes it aside the best she could in order to focus on the rest of what Oreithya was saying. She didn’t catch all of it, but she had the general idea of what she had said.

Glancing to the side, the night pelted lady mulls over the idea her fellow medic had tossed her way. Yes, it would be best to go and comfort the large male. However, while she was pretty good with emotions, she knew very little about the wolf in need of some support. Thus, it would be best if she escorted Killjoy to the alpha, even if it would be best for him to stay in the den. Oreithya and Violet would surely be able to handle everything while she was away. That along with Rags’ earlier offer would ensure that everything ran smoothly (even if the beta would be looking over those in the den in general, rather than Killjoy himself).

“Oreithya, could you and Rags watch over the den while I escort Killjoy? However, if you so wish, you may come with us if you would like, Rags. I would prefer if you were to rest, but I believe that Alpha Shadow could use all the support he can get.”

There wasn’t much time for either to respond as Killjoy once again rushed from the den. This time to follow his friend. Rolling her eyes at action. At this point, a scolding wasn’t worth it. If he refused to change anything, then that was on him. Though, she couldn’t help but feel a sting at the actions.

First a distressed with, then another show of carelessness from the alpha. Does anyone appreciate or acknowledge the title I was set to fill?

With a huff of air, Xola was swift to follow the trail of the past two wolves – going just slow enough for Rags to follow if she so chose to.Her ears were up and flickering the entire time, listening for both the sounds of danger as well as the two wolves she sought to catch. The trek led her towards the river, but not directly to its edge. Rather, the two wolves were moving up ahead of her with Shadow slowing trodding forth and that pesky alpha trying to stop his movements. They were still heading in the river’s general direction, but were not too terribly close to it.

Picking up the pace, she canters her way up to the two – her presence likely not a surprise for either. She wasn’t exactly being stealthy, so it was probable that they heard her coming a while before she reached them. She slows to a stop behind the much larger and distressed male, her face filled with guilt and worry. Taking the opportunity of Killjoy’s position, she makes an attempt to break the trance he appeared to be in – raising a paw out towards him.

“Shadow…? Is… is everything alright? I didn’t… I hurt you… didn’t I?” Xola’s voice cracks slightly towards the end as she dips her head down. You disgusting fiend. Now’s not the time to express your guilt. It’ll only make things worse.

But, now was not the time to show signs of distress herself. That would be selfish. With a deep breath, she straightens herself out and places her paw back on the ground. Her head now stood straight up, and was honed in on the male’s back. As much as the thought of causing the distress of another hurt, it was nothing compared to what the dark coated alpha was going through. That was for certain.

“My apologies. That was despicable of me, to cause you any form of distress or guilt,” her ears flatten backwards once more, but she presses on, “Please, speak to us. You need not hold this in any longer than you have already.”

Anya | F | Member | SFP | M: Flame
Anya jumped at the sudden sound of Flame's laugh. "What?! What is it?!" She asked, very confused. With Flame's words, her eyes widened, knowing she had messed up. "I- im not begging..." Anya suttered, trying to come up with a good excuse when there wasn't one. She clamped her mouth and eyes shut as she turned slightly red from embarrassment. She had forgotten that Flame had hearing better than most wolves. "Im sorry..." she mumbled, not sure what eles to say. Luckily she didn't have to say anymore because Flame spoke. Anya reopened her eyes and looked at Flame, excited for the story even if it was supposed to be a lesson for her.
.
Anya listened to the story intently. She smiled some, imagining Flame jealous. Somehow, she couldn't quite imagine it. By the end of the story, Anya was feeling slightly bad about her feelings. "Here Silver is, wanting to be my friend and all i want is for her to disappear. Im a horrible wolf, aren't I?" She whined, once again closing her eyes. "But i know Shadow will like her more, so i cant help it. But still...I'll try to be a good friend to her. Ill show her how fun it is to have fun!" Anya said, opening her eyes to look at Flame. "Im sorry, Flame. But...your not going to tell them, right?" She then asked.

A rustle in the bushes near her made her quicken her pace. She seemed extra jumpy now that she grew more and more tired. She wanted to lay down but she knew it would be better if she waited till she were at the mountain.
Her slow pace quickened as she started hearing things more and more, but it was probably just in her head. She picked up on a scent of something that she didnt want to run into, though it was very faint, and now she was in a full out run.
Her mind raced with many possibilities of what it was, what if it were chasing her?
But the scent was not there anymore, and she realized she was being silly, the rustles were only loud in her mind, and the scent was clearly of something far.
She was too tired for this.. she needed rest.

|Sundown|M|Raven|Medic's Apperentice|M: Ore, Xola, Anya, Brielle|

Sundown glanced towards Ore with his eyes full of anxitey. He wanted to go home. He came up next to Ore. "I'm going to head home, I'm sure that we have wolves I need to check on." His ears flicked back before he nodded and slunk out of the den. He picked up a trot, and headed home. He was careful to avoid Killjoy and Shadow, going far around them before arriving at the river. He took a deep breath and jumped in to the cold water. His thin coat swirled around him as he paddled. He was panting from the effort to keep his head above the water. His ears back to stop water from getting in them.

He pulled himself to the shore, and shook his pelt out. Was that a snowflake? Great. Sundown huffed as he shivered in the cold. This was going to be a great winter. His ears were back as he picked up a steady trot towards camp.

Sundown entered camp, seeing that it was quite empty. He could hear Anya and Flames voices from their den. He did need to go and check on Brielle... So he made his way over. He waited outside for a moment, not meaning to listen into their conversation, but just catching the last few words. It wasn't his job to gossip, so he brushed it off. He took a deep breath, and poked his head into the den. "Good afternoon Flame, Anya. I am here to check up on Brielle." He said, putting his front two paws into the warm den. Ahh it's so warm!

Shadow | M | Alpha | SFP | M: Killjoy, Xola
Shadow barely heard Killjoy's first shout. The growl and the word stop snapped him out of his trance enough for him to focus on the male in front of him. At the words, Shadow didn't respond. His head was lowered and his ears stayed flat on his head. Any trace of alpha that could have been seen before was gone. An ear flicked though when the medic came to join them. Oh, it couldn't get any worse right?

At her words, he let out a sigh before looking at the ground, "It's not your fault. It's not his fault. It's mine and mine alone. To protect a pack, you need to be there. I wasn't. To protect your family, you must be there. I wasn't. To protect what's left means to stay with the back, I didn't. I am no alpha. Never was to begin with." Shadow said, a paw digging into the ground. Shadow tried to go around Killjoy only to be stopped again (most likely).

At that point, he sat down before feeling the fur of Icicle at his paws. His eyes stayed on the white fur as he spoke quietly, his words only being heard from those near him. "Before them, there was life that had no consequences. Life that you could live and never have enough. When the pups came. . .I could think nothing more than to be a father. To protect my family." His words died down before a snarl rippled from his throat.

Just the sound of it brought pure anger back to his eyes. Anger that hadn't been in them since that day. The memories were running through his mind and he couldn't stop them. "You know what the sad part is?" There was a cold tone in his voice as he raised his eyes to meet Killjoy's. His lips parted back to reveal his fangs, "I don't regret it. Not one bit. I would do it again in a heartbeat." The look on his face faded into grief and sadness. "That's what goes through my mind everytime I think about it. Yet I don't feel that way, not anymore." Shadow said, shaking his head before getting to his paws.

His tail hung limply as his eyes drifted off into the distance. "I still see it. The dead kit at my paws. The collapsing tunnel that kills the parents. My bloodstained coat." Shadow sighed before his ears flattened again. He closed his eyes for a minute before opening one to look at Killjoy. "How do you look at me and not see the monster of what I am? I killed a kit that did nothing against me. I killed the jaguars that disrupted my family without mercy. After everything I have done, how can you tell me that I am doing good?" Shadow said with an edge of a growl.

"And it still...didn't. Bring. Them. Back." Shadow finished, his eyes casting back down to where Icicle was supposed to be. The ground in front of him was claws up as his claws raked the grass. The weight of the small fox suddenly appeared on his back. He turned his head back, feeling her nuzzle his neck. He hung on to that for a moment before turning his eyes towards Xola. "Now what do you think medic? How much honor did I bring my pack?" His voice was cold and lifeless although his eyes betrayed him. They were filled with grief and anguish.

Malicia // Eastern // Queen // Mentions: Illusion // *Thos playing her pups*

Malicia stayed in her den after Illusion followed her to it before promptly leaving to Find the medic. Whom was busy as a bee in the den, and to be honest Malicia wanted no part of the other medics input. Growling softly she bared her canines as her sides rippled harshly.

One by one Each pup was Delivered. 5 total. But, only 3 suckled from her exposed belly. 2 males and one Female. Panting softly Malicia licked them all clean, the two that had passed she gently nuzzled away from the 3 that wriggled happily. Audits perking upon her cranium she rested her cranium upon her paws as her body relaxed the pain subsiding. Her milk supply was great, which meant happy healthy and chunky pups. Hmmm Now to ponder names while she relaxed... Malicia smiled as she wrapped her banner around her 3 live pups. For that she could be thankful, praise the gods that 3 had at least survived.

Mairea

Scout | Female | Mentions : Solaris, Night, Willow, Brute, Shiva

The female chuckled at her mate, he was so cute at times - though she'd never tell him that. There was a rare gentleness in her eyes as she looked at him with amusement, "Patience, my love, we'll find out soon enough what's going on." She said with a soft hum, and she teasingly brushed herself against him - and she slowly swished her tail as she moved about. Her eyes scanning for some sort of sign of others in the camp - but that seemed to not be the case. And she gave a perplexed and annoyed huff at that. Seriously? Had they really all went out without alerting her and her mate, that would be quite rude in her opinion. But that's when the sound of voices caught her attention, two wolves, ah, Willow and Brute. And she gave a confused look as they seemed to just sit in front of them with a certain knowing. A second or two passed and she blinked, they had just say their, not explaining anything and she felt her frustration rising. Her ear flickering back, being the only sign of her annoyance at this fact. She was about to ask them to explain what was going on, when the Alpha came and discussed some plan of a hunt. Usually, the female would take great pleasure in joining a hunt, but as of late she's been feeling . . . off, so she'd rather get her health checked before doing anything that could cause harm to her.

" Good to see you Alpha," she said politely, her voice soft and sweet as could be, " it's unfortunate to hear about a cougar attack - I hope their weren't many injured parties. But I'll have to respectfully decline the invitation to the hunt, my darling mate will go in my stead. He'll probably be more useful to you," she said with a small teasing look at Solaris, "I had some concerns I needed to discuss with Oreithya, but it seems that she's not present - and it is pretty urgent, so I will be heading to Eastern Pack to see her. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I just want to make sure of something before I get to hunting." She said sagely, yet their was some intuition on her part. She had a feeling she knew, why, she was feeling this way - but it was a bit too early to make a conclusion or was it just the right time. She didn't know. But either way she needed this to be resolved and soon.

She gave a small and direct touch of her nose to her mates cheek. A silent reassurance that she was okay and a way for her to tell him to mind his manners and try to be nice to the others while she was gone. And then a simple lick to his nose for extra comfort and a bit of a tease to him. And she gave a look to Night as if anticipating his response to her request.

Freya // Gaurd // Strays // Mentions: Silver

Freya nodded as she followed next to the wolf their pelts just barely brushing as she watched the landscape around them open up to the river. Audits swiveling she narrowed her gaze at the mention of a fight.

"Im dont running from the soft skinned pests. If it comes down to a fight you can be sure ill be in the front of that line."

Freya stated breifly noting the soft colored wolf and frowned ever so softly.

"She grieves her past. Hmm... best to leave her be."

Freya knew that distant gaze. As she had often seen it in her own fathers eyes. Sighing she smiled at Silver.

"Well, its been a pleasure Silver. Hope to see you around again soon."

Freya leaned forwards and brushed her nose against the departing wolfs shoulder as a goodbye before picking up a steady canter towards the camp. Her banner swaying in a neutral fashion behind her as she approached the dogs.

[Killjoy]M]Alpha]Eastern]M: Shadow, Xola]

Killjoy sighed when he saw Xola. He was grateful that he wasn't alone, but also annoyed that she'd followed. He couldn't blame her though. "Shadow, shut up and just listen to yourself." Killjoy looked into his eyes, "Do you not remember straight? You were protecting your Pack from that nast nasty rottweiler and his group. You are an Alpha. You've come so far." Killjoys ears flattened against his head as well. I'm not an Alpha. Never have been. Killjoy knew that feeling. He was still so used to being a hunter. The thrill of a fight made him just want to jump in. The adrenaline made him reckless. If anyone shouldn't be an Alpha, it would be him. The only reason he was one was due to the fact that they needed a leader, and he'd been raised here.

Dust flew as he blocked Shadow again. "Naughty boy." Killjoy said, giving him a soft glare. He listened to Shadows words. He wasn't a father, and he wasn't sure if he ever would be. Shadow, Illusion, they were lucky. "You were and will be a great father to Silver. I, and I'm sure no one else had doubts about it." Killjoy sat down in front of him, and placed his black paw over Shadows.

"You know what the sad part is?" Killjoy could think of a lot... The dead pups, Seya leaving during this mess, Flame laying helplessly waiting for help, all of the blood shed. Silently Killjoy looked into his eyes. "I would do it again in a heartbeat." Killjoy smiled slightly. That was some good quality fathering right there. Not many would do, or say that for their pups. It was like a movie, watching Shadow go through all of the emotions. "Sit back down." Killjoy said, sternly, "You aren't leaving right now. You need to get this off your chest, as do I."

He listened to Shadows next words. He could see the dead kit? All he could see at night was Shadow with the dead kit in his mouth, the parents snarling in the background. The tunnel collapsing behind them as the scurried up the rocks. The sound was soul shattering. He didn't like it. He didn't want to admit it, but he too would do it again in a heart beat. He had gained more respect for Shadow in one day then he had for any other wolf in his life. "Let's be honest, your bloodstained coat was badass." Killjoy mumbled under his breath, looking at the ground for the sentence before eye contact returned. "How do I not see you as a monster? Shadow, c'mon." Killjoy gave him a sarcastic eyeroll. "Please, no matter what you do, you will never look like a monster in my eyes. You did what you thought what was best. As I think of it, a kit for a pup. Too bad there wasn't more." Killjoy knew he probably wasn't helping Shadow... He chewed his next words. "I too would do it again, but instead of watching like an idiot, I'd gladly help." A flash of evil passed over his face before it turned soft again.

Shadows last words cut like a knife right to the heart. He'd wished so many times that he could bring his deceased family members back. Eyelids fluttered close. He just wanted a better goodbye with his father, not to see him get defeated by rogues. "Shadow, nothing you can or will do can bring them back. They are gone, and the only thing you can do is to remember the happy times you had." Killjoys eyes gently opened again. "You are still bitter, and so am I. It messed with both of us, you more greatly then me, but you're doing good with your Pack." Far better then I am doing with mine.. He shook the thought out of his head but it lingered at the back, like a awful aftertaste.

To be honest, he'd forgotten that Xola was there. He looked at her. "Go ahead, tell me that I never listen." He sighed. "I'm just, ugh, such a screwed up mess." He chuckled before turning his attention back to Shadow.
