Nicodemus Brooks
Squad Leader | Male | Dragon Rider | Mentions: Brontes, Riders & Dragons

With very little interest reflecting in the flat hues of his grey eyes, Nicodemus watched the scene below him unfold. It looked as if majority, if not all, of the dragons in the valley had found their humans and approached them, cementing the early stages of the bond that would lead them both throughout their shared life. Some tensions were high, he could see that, but so far nothing had escalated into an actual fight, at least, nothing was close to blows that would be dangerous.

Shifting his weight he gently patted Brontes' neck again, a physical cue that he was ready to go. "We're free and clear to head down now, might as well wrap up this whole thing and get everyone moving forward," he nodded and relaxed backward, content to let Brontes take the reigns in getting down to the ground where the others were.

His body moved instinctively with the movements of the water dragon, in tune with the great creature as much as a human could be.

Once they were in the valley with the others, he motioned for Brontes to move so they stood in front of the group of new found riders. The humans who hadn't been chosen were exiting the valley leaving just the riders and their dragons there. He eyed them quietly, before swinging off Brontes and landing gracefully on his feet.

As he straightened to his full height, Nico settled one hand on the hilt of his sword, and let his eyes roam the faces of his new team. He appraised them for short seconds, before clearing his throat, a subtle but clear call for their attention on him. It was the only warning they would get.

"Riders!" He declared loudly, his voice cutting through the air of the valley with ease. He waited for their silence, for their attention to soley rest on him, even their dragons would need to focus on him before he continued. He wasn't going to let them start disrespecting him so soon, so he waited patiently until silence settled over the valley, and then stepped forward.

"I am Nicodemus Brooks, this is my dragon, Brontes. We will be your groups Leaders. We're going to train you, and guide you through this process. That means what we say goes, and if you don't like it, you're going to have to get over it, because you don't have a choice," the young man projected his voice so everyone could hear him, yet he wasn't shouting. There was a demanding, authoritative tone to his voice, something that challenged those he was speaking to to not listen to him. It wouldn't be wise to do that though.

He paused for a moment, glancing at some of the different faces, letting his words begin to sink in before continuing. "Obviously, your journey begins today, right now. You're first step as a new Rider is going to be successfully completing your first ride. This will be done with no training, no guidance, and no tack. There will be nothing and no one who is going to help you. If you fall off and plummit to your death, I will not catch you. If you're meant to be a rider, you'll survive, injured or not, if you're not meant to be, well, then, you know the alternative," he shrugged and glanced at Brontes, a glimmer of wicked humor in his eyes.

"Any questions before you begin?" While he wasn't going to help them, if there was something they needed to know before hand, he would offer them the knowledge.

Terra Wild-Heart | 17 | female | rider | Isabel | M: Isabel, OPEN
Terra was freaking out. She followed Isabel in complete silence. It was a good thing Isabel couldn't hear Terra's thought, because she was silently kicking herself. What did Terra have that would be worth of a dragon? Terra wasn't rich, even if she had thought of buying a gift, there was nothing in her price range.
Well, there was one thing, but Terra wasn't sure if Isabel would like it. Besides, Terra wasn't sure if she could part with it. Her mother's bracelet. It had been a last gift from her mother before she had passed. A simple chain link silver bracelet that would be no more than a horn ring on Isabel. It wasn't worth much, but it was all she had.
"Wait." Terra jogged to catch up to Isabel before the dragoness entered the water. "I have a gift for you." Terra unclasped her bracelet before presenting it to Isabel. "It was my mother's, I hope you like it." Terra held her breath as she waited for Isabel's reaction, hoping desperately that she liked it.
(im going to give a quick time skip, so we can fit everything in the timeline)
Soon after, a water dragon soared into the clearing. It had Terra's entire attention, as it had arrived far later than the rest of the dragons. A man dismounted from the water dragon, and announced that he was their leader. He seemed capable enough, so Terra decided not to pick a fight, yet.
So, it was time. Terra had heard of the first ride, but hadn't yet realized that she would have to ride in it. Terra sent an anxious glance over at Isabel, and took a deep breath. It was time.

Isabel||90||Female||Water dragon||M: Terra, Nico

Isabel heard someone speak when Terra had persented the gift. She looked at Terra then the gift and said "I love it but can you hold on to it so i don't lose it during the ride?" Isabel turned facing the person who had spoke even tho she knew what it was. Isabel turned to Terra and said "We will come back later for the gift i have for you we need to go back the first ride will start soon." Isabel then began to run for the middle of the valley stopping just a little bit away from the center waiting for terra.

Isabel looked around to see if Terra had followed her and hoped she did. She didn't know whether she should let Terra on her yet. Isabel felt like pulling a stunt during there ride to see if Terra could handle it.

Ryu||Male||150||Water Dragon||M: Nico, Open

Ryu groaned as someone woke him up with yelling. He was quite irratied about it and said "What Now!" Ryu shot a glare at the man who had yelled. As The began to walk over to the middle he sighed. Ryu wasn't the kind to brush off his irritation not at all. He looked around hoping to spot less fire dragons and more air dragons. As Ryu did he noticed the guy who yelled had a water dragon.

Brontes

Water | 250 | M | M: Nico, new riders and dragons

The bonding process seemed to be moving along nicely, most riders, if not all, had the opportunity to connect with their dragon, and it appeared as if no more dragons were coming. The water dragon was ready to get this show on the road, the first ride was always fun to see, during his bonding day, one of the riders had been dropped after going through a rough bonding period. It must have been their fault since he had seen the young boy nagging his dragon early. Though he had only fallen a few feet into the lake, unfortunately, he had survived, with the only thing damaged being his pride.

In the saddle, he felt his rider's weight shift, he knew the physical cue by heart, the verbal just affirming it as he raised his wings in a fluid motion. With legs bent, and wings outstretched, the dragon propelled himself off of the ledge where he and Nico had been patiently watching the scene below. Eyes focused below on their new targets.

The water dragon couldn't truly fly, it was more of a glide, but after years of practice, it seemed as if he could truly fly. Brontes shifted his wings, lowering the left and raising the right ever so slightly as he made his descent. Moving in a spiral pattern before leveling out and dropping onto all fours, his gaze cold and unwavering as he looked over his new riders. Matching the stare his rider gave. He followed his rider's cue to move so that they stood in front of the group, it was a good size, though they seemed a bit larger now that he was witnessing them in person. However, that wasn't an issue for the large male.

The dragon raised himself to his full height, frill fanning out and wings outstretched to show off his size and power, before folding them neatly at his side and letting out a dominant snort. Steam rose from his nostrils as his rider began his opening speech. He rather enjoyed hearing his rider talk, Brontes wouldn't have phrased it any other way.

The water dragon stood silently at his rider's side, sizing up each of the dragons and taking official inventory of who had shown up. His gaze lingered a bit longer on the fire dragons, particularly the one whose rider had fainted, whether it had been the dragon's fault or not he hadn't seen a reaction such as that in years. This year they had three dragons of that class. One or two were enough trouble on their own, but three may pose a challenge depending on their temperament.

At the mention of a rider not being caught during a fall, Brontes suppressed a burst of water. Such a silly thing, if a human couldn't hold on and fell off, it was on them. Focusing back on his rider, the dragon flashed a toothy grin at the mention of the said alternative if that were to happen. He was debating having a word or two with the other dragons concerning the first ride but figured it might be more entertaining if he said nothing. So he remained quiet.

Mircea Crylor | 17 | Male | Mentions: Hartley, Micheal, Valine, Roxanne, Other Riders (Briefly)

The young man felt his heart shatter into pieces taking a look at Dan. The dragon was obviously a sweetheart, and it looked like he made him cry. Was it him that made the dragon cry or was it Roxanne. No matter what it was - he had been a factor. He had the effect, his words could make others weep because he was careless with them at times. But what cut even worse was when the dragon told him he was a bad human. Those two words hurt, and he felt his eyes water a bit himself, but he held it together. Being called bad brought back memories he wished he didn't have, but he did. He kept his breathing calm and kept his temper in check. He had messed up big time, but it was a relief when the dragon hoped he could be a good human. He was quite interested to see how him and Roxanne would interact. He had snorted when Roxanne was being her usual sassy and spitfire self when he helped get the compass off of her body. It was like the old friend he knew.

He smirked when she shooed him away for his "mushy talk" and he said, "You know I only get mushy talking about you and Hart dear Roxie. You're like my big sister and you know it, it's my job to be your mushy younger brother at times." He said with a mischievous grin on his face. He was her evil twin even if she didn't admit it, wherever she went - he would follow close behind. It was always Roxanne and Mircea, and though they had lost a couple of years, he wasn't gonna give up that easy on her, and she knew it. It wasn't in his veins to give up, he was stubborn like that.

After he had saved his cousin from getting squashed by a dragon, he was too excited to show off his own dragon. But he was shocked to see when a beautiful air dragon had came in - it had beautiful jewelry on, he wondered where the creature got such jewelry from. But what shocked him was how it chose Hartley as his Rider. Oh wow, his baby cousin had been picked by a dragon! How exciting. He the focused on his own dragon, he would badger Hart later.

He carefully out the six rings in her horns. They adorned her head quite prettily. And he had give a small 'oooo' as they shimmered on her horns. What shook him was when she proceeded to take her spikes and give one to him. Oh my stars, doesn't that hurt you? Are you alright? Do I need to do some sort of dragon first aid? He said panicking through the link.

It was a pretty spike admittedly. He ran his hands over it and sat down. He wondered what he could make out of it. He hummed to himself as he opened up his bag and took out a brush and comb. He began fixing the mess of his hair. He brushed out the leaves and grass that had adorned it, and he then put it in a neat plait, and then took it and wrapped it around into a braided bun. He then pinned it down with bobby pins. You see he kept these things in his bag - don't ask why. He then stood up and dusted himself off, and checked to make sure his clothes were presentable. He had to look good for the Squad Leader after all - first impressions are lasting ones .

My little cousin got chosen by an air dragon he said to his dragon. Oh, you didn't tell me your name either!

Their conversation was interrupted when a loud, and commanding voice called to them. He turned around to see a water dragon coming down, and once it landed the rider was revealed to be his big brother! We half-older brother , his big bro none the less. He immediately straightened his posture and had his eyes on his brother as he spoke of the first ride. He was excited for the ride and hoped his went well.

Thats my big brother up there, he told Valine - a sense of pride washing over him, I hope this ride goes well. I want to impress him! And I want to make my family proud. Are you excited for our first ride?

He then heard a dragon hiss out a shout. He had to take a moment to look over at the dragon and give an irritated look. Who in their right mind would do such a thing? He gave a small annoyed huff before returning to his composed state and watched how amused his brother's dragon seemed with him. This was going to be an interesting ride.

That water dragon is so rude. I bet you he'll get dealt with later on. Mircea said rather smugly through the link but his face was the epitome of composure to the outside.

Deirdre || Fire Dragon || M: Michael, Other Dragons/Riders (Obs.), Brontes and Nico (Ind)

"Michael Evans," the dragon repeated, both through the bond and out loud. She let the name sit on her tongue for a moment, eyes narrowing thoughtfully. So this was the name of her lifelong partner in crime. Michael Evans. Yes, it had a nice roll to it; Deirdre allowed it to settle in her mind's stores of information before returning her attention to him.

"You are welcome."

At his theory that it had not been the bond snapping into place that had caused his dizzy spell, Deirdre's mind jumped to the possibilities that could have been the culprit of the event. Well, if he hadn't eaten, that wouldn't have helped. Was he thirsty? Too hot, too cold? Low blood sugar? Deirdre cocked her head to the side and quizzically wondered if he were feeling well -- was it a cold, a fever?

He didn't smell sick, but she was not a stomach reader. If he was feeling queasy, it was a blessing that she didn't feel it through thte bond. She hated the feeling of being nauseated; when she did get sick like that, it usually lasted a few days. The memories were less than pleasant. Her eyes were drawn to Angeya's frame as she thought of such things, knowing full well her sister had witnessed the ordeal a couple of times. Oh, if that dragonet ever told anyone...

A low, rumbling growl started up deep in her throat, but she let it fade away before it could come to full fruition. As Michael turned to his original companions, Deirdre sent one last look of mixed suspicion and offsense at the... Mircea human. Once again, a shock of overprotective instincts flooded her neurons, causing her body to tense up and move into a more feral pose before she caught herself and forced all her muscles to relax.

Deirdre pointedly turned away from the humans and focused on the other pairings being made. Most near to her was Dan. The male's more open emotions made her slightly uncomfortable, as she had no idea how to handle such things. An awkward "there, there" and a pat on the shoulder would have been all she could have contributed, so she pretended not to have seen the dragon cry.

Elsewhere, dragons were approaching humans and trinkets were being exchanged. Oopsies; she'd forgotten about that. Well, she wasn't the only one, and that was okay. She'd make it up to Michael by going hunting later or something. Bring him back a nice deer, all for himself. That would be a good gift for a human, right? Venison was easy on the stomach...

Never mind that. Deirdre's attention was taken by a human calling for everyone's attention, dragons' included. Her eyes were trained on Brontes as Nichodemus spoke; it seemed his gaze was on her as well. He was staring as though she were a troublemaker. Was he worried she would eat someone? She hadn't eaten a human in a couple decades, but...

For the sake of being a little brat, Deirdre slightly lowered her head and sent Brontes a wicked, mischievous grin. Her eyes glittered with promises of malicious compliance, but whether or not she would actually follow through with her new plot to drive the water dragon up the wall remained uncertain. She smoothed her features into something more calm and pristine and slid her tail partways around her legs, much like a feline's regal posture.

At the mention of a first ride, Deirdre turned to face Michael once more. In a slow tone that spoke of a dragoness anticipating friendly, potentially sketchy competition, she sweetly asked through their bond, "Do you mind if we completely obliterate your friend with the smug face and his new companion?"

Michael Evans - Rider - 18 - Male - Mentions: Deirdre, Mircea & Valine, Other Riders (indirect), other Dragons (indirect), Nicodemus & Brontes,

The sound of a loud and authoritive voice calling for attention made Michael reflexively look to the source, breaking off from his surreptitious observing of other humans and their dragons interacting. Once his gaze settled upon the tall figure in front of the mingled group of humans and dragons of varying classes; he recognized him, wasn't that Mircea's older half-brother? Indeed, he believed it was. He had learned not to assume quickly, after that one incident with mistaking two people who looks quite similiar to each other. But he had a certainty that this was Nicodemus Brooks. The water dragon certainly helped to. He had to admit that the water dragon certainly looked impressive, in the way that someone acknowledges but doesn't really put too much thought into. He privately thought that Deirdre looked as imposing, actually, make that more. Was he biased despite knowing her for less than a day? Yes, he most likely was.

He glanced over to Mircea, who looked as if he were standing straighter than normal. Knowing him, he was trying to impress his older brother. The immediate urge to go over and annoy the other was so strong. A quick glance over to the rider-dragon pair standing in front of them, he noticed that the dragon's eyes seemed to linger on Deirdre just a hair longer than the others. Odd.

When Deirdre turned to him, and asked him if he wanted to...obliterate his smug faced friend and his dragon in the first ride; he considered for a few moments.

"Sure. Not too far, I still don't want him to get hurt." He replied with a small shrug.

You know what? He was going to do it, be as annoying as he could possibly manage to his old rival. Surpressing a smile, keeping a neutral expression on his face, he started over to Mircea and his dragon, even while unsure what to do once he got over there. An idea came to him, and he had to ask himself, did he really want to do that idea? Then compared with the pros, he decided, yes, he really did. Hopefully he wouldn't get mauled by Mircea's dragon.

Once close enough, he began saying Mircea's name over and over, poking him in the shoulder hard enough to be felt everytime he repeated the name. He moved closer, right into his personal space; and suddenly leaned about half his weight into the young man's side. The movement probably came out more dramatic than he had intended it to be, it looking rather like he had collasped against him. He was careful to not unbalance Mircea so much, as to prevent them both ending up on the ground again. His repeated of the name was interrupted by a genunine sneeze, coincidentally right next to Mircea's ear; then he gave a very convincing fake sneeze, then another.

"Remember when you got arrested that one time? For stealing the horse? That was great." He suddenly said, taking a break from repeated Mircea's name over and over. He may have said that a tad bit too loud, eh, he didn't care. He moved a bit and accidentally; truly, truly accidentally, stepped on one of Mircea's well kept looking black leather boots. He stumbled and ended up taking his foot off said boot and then setting it down harder as he tried to get his weight off of his foot; and smacked his head into Mircea's. Yeah, he was probably going to get killed for this, or at least get an earful from Mircea. Despite that, he decided to press a little bit more on his luck, now that he had regained his balance and was situated so that he was less likely to step on his toes, literally, he moved closer and began drumming his fingers on the back of his head; he was definitely going to be snapped at for touching his hair without permission.

Nicodemus Brooks
Squad Leader | Male | Dragon Rider | Mentions: Ryu, Michael, Mircea, Brontes

The tall Rider stood where he was at in silent confidence, a look of something between disdain and indifference settling into his features. This group seemed to be made up of a bunch of... big personalities which didn't excite him terribly. Sure, dragons could be on the dramatic or territorial side, feral really, but he hadn't seen such a dramatic group in a while. It was bound to happen when there were this many young adult dragons though.

The sound of a shout, a displeased one, caught his attention as a water dragon stirred. He pinned them with an unimpressed look of annoyance, because, human or not, Nicodemus was not about to be disrespected by anyone, not even a dragon.

Nico's eyes remained on the dragon, cold flat gaze of steel refusing to budge for moments, before it slid back across the gathered group. He lingered a moment on the figure of his younger half brother, but quickly moved on, he'd be showing him no favortism amongst the group. However, his gaze snapped immediately back when another boy approached his half-brother and began to, from what Nico could tell, annoy him purposely.

A groomed brow arched in annoyance, and his lips set into a thin line, jaw clenching in frustrating. Were they such children that they couldn't keep the antics at bay for more than mere seconds? With his jaw clenching and releasing, a vein popping slightly in his neck, he veered around towards Brontes and scrunches his face up in a snarky look of 'This is about to happen'

Walking over to his dragon, he gently placed his hand on his neck, closer to his head, and leaned in slightly. "I'm going to need you to douse them. Not hot enough to burn, but enough for it to be uncomfortable. If either of their dragon's interfere, hit them full blast. If I have to make an example out of them I will," he stated, turning back towards then two. He took a step, but paused to look over his shoulder at the Water Dragon. "Oh, and don't hit me, please," he grumbled, less worried about Brontes hitting him with the steam of water, and more worried that he'd get caught in the crossfire of one of the other dragons.

Without another word, Nicodemus began to walk towards where the two were, his strides long and even. His walk was something purposeful, but annoyance was clear in his entire figure. Was it that hard to just listen quietly?

Cernunnos Capakan
Earth Dragon | Male | Mentions: Kavik, Nicodemus, the Riders & Dragons

The elongated dragon sidled closer, half dragging his body on the ground as he weaved around, eventually encircling the male and laying on the ground completely. He half rested his head on his own leg and half against the boy, as he looked up at him with orange eyes.

"Kavik... Kavik... Lovely! Kavik and Cernunnos Capakan!" He spoke aloud, no longer feeling like putting in effort to speak through a mind link. "Cern or Cer is the most common abbreviation of my name, you're welcome to call me that if it's easiest," he added, knowing how difficult his name could be for those unfamiliar with him.

The dragon had settled in quietly, thinking about returning to his cat nap when an object was thrusted towards him, bringing his attention to it's glimmering glory. He produced a soft little rumble, a curious little hitch. Gently he nosed the necklace and tilted his head to the side. Cernunnos likes gifts, he liked shiny things, he was a dragon after all, but he had never been given such an intricate gift before.

"Oh.. I mean you don't have to give me a gift, I do not require one.. I actually didn't really bring one myself. I don't travel well with accessories, being underground mostly," he offered a gentle, sheepish grin. "I could probably get you some good snacks, like potatoes, or roots for a stew or something?"

Cernunnos wasn't good at gift giving, in the slightest. Like, he honestly was really bad it. He hoarded things, but he wasn't ever good at giving things to others.

Then he thought for a moment, a peculiar expression taking up his features. "I suppose I do have one option," he turned his head towards his new rider and parted his jaws to reveal his teeth. "You may take one if you'd like," he spoke, keeping his lips and teeth from touching. If the boy wanted a tooth and took one, it would be nothign more than a little twinge for Cernunnos. They never really hurt when he broke them, he'd just grown accustom to it at this point.

His gaze drifted when an older rider and their dragon appeared in the valley, gliding down from somewhere else. He gaze a short little introduction, which Cernunnos half listened to, but was content to stay mostly quiet and respectful. Especially after watching the Rider's annoyance grow at those either disrespecting him or being annoying. He didn't think it was a good idea to end up on the bad side of their Squad Leader on day one.
