With all the pups my pack breeds I'm frequently sorting through pups while more are coming in. Interestingly, the pups appear just before the labor alert (which is really a birth notification). And for that first minute or so they each show up as rarity score: 0, generation: 0.... before their actual stats have time to load and the labor alert comes through.

it could be an air vent, but I don't know how well they'd fit in the air vents. Theoretically, they could just attack and fight their way out. Can't be tracked if there's nobody left to track them.
