I do not recall, but I believe it is mainly ta preserve certain colors since fawn is dominant. Also, blue eye can be shown for us. However, they can only be on harlequins. Also, oh my- XD

Oh gosh, that'd be a pain. So glad it's harder ta get in danes. Also, do y'all separate your alpacas into certain groups based on color? Like, for danes, we have the "main group" (not actually its name but I cannot currently recall it) which would be fawns, brindles, blacks, and blues and the "color group" for mantles, merles, mantle merles, and harlequins. |

We have color classes for shows. Greys (rose grey and silver grey), Blacks (bay blacks, true blacks), fawns (dark, medium) lights (light fawn, beige), whites, multi (appy, pinto) and undetermined. BBO (Best Bred and Owned) are split into Lights (light group and white) and darks (Black, greys and fawns) and the multi class. Judges choice is all champions of that gender combined for best animal of the group. |

That's basically how it works for us. So we'll start with certain age groups, then go ta stuff like Open Mantle, Open Brindle, Color, and the like. Though they, at first, only match up with others of their sex (dogs usually go first. Bitches second). Then we have the champion group where the two winners from the previous "final" rounds go against those who have already finished and are working on their grand. |
