In the past, he had a falling out with a female goddess (she remained bitter about his attempt to kill her to his dismay), and has since attempted to tarnish everything that she does, or spoil anything that could ever benefit her. She was revered as a benevolent entity to mortals, but she was really quite the opposite in reality. I could probably tweak her, but I'm assuming the prick deity would be doing everything in his divine power to spite her if she infact did create a prophecy.

I do like the idea of him having created his own false prophecy, manipulated Marie into safe-keeping it somewhere, and wormed his way into a higher status among the court and people in general. I can envision him as the new head of the church, and the more outrageous actions of religion lately would probably be the result of him simply looking for entertainment - I've got cult leader vibes from him lol.

Now the fun part is figuring out the details of the prophecies, and which deity is responsible for the Others.
