Help fighting predators

I have reached level 4 of the first level on Explore, but the predators are getting harder, even the deer kick my butt. What can I do to make it easier for my wolves? I'm using 6 wolves, 3 of them have a lot of experience and can "kick". The other three can only "bite" but each time we run into a lone squirrel or quail I have the weak wolves battle it to help increase their stats.

"Kick" is a defensive move. Change it to "Knock Over" so they attack.

Put character points on Battle to increase damage; Resolve to help your wolves get more hits in; and Agility to help them avoid hits.
