Kaisen sighed heavily as Nyx padded off. He hated when these ceremonies got confrontational. But then again, dragons were proud beasts, not willing to give up much ground. So it wasn't all that surprising if they did get confrontational with each other. He still hated it. Reaching down he gently patted Nyx's shoulder. 'Take it easy,' he said gently. Glancing around, he wondered when the ceremony continued. He noticed that the Queen had successfully saddled her own dragon, and that most of the other newbies had succeeded as well.

Vervada turned and snorted, unimpressed at the increasingly agitated young warrioress's display. "Of course she is" she said patronizingly, with a fake smile. "To a youngling like you she must seem amazing, everything you could never be" she added her mouth twisting into a sneer. "I mean yes she keeps the peace, relatively, and i'm not saying she's a bad flight leader... but... oh well i couldn't make you young ones understand, especially when you all try to pathetically copy her." she sighed, shaking her head once more, still with a patronizing expression. As the young dragoness drew herself up, she met Nyx's gaze with equally blazing eyes, holding them and burning into them, until she felt Arya move on her back. With another strong snort she rolled her eyes and abruptly turned to her rider. That young dragon wasn't worth her time, especially not right now.

Pleased, she watched as Arya quickly loosened the straps and slid off, she lowering herself closer to the ground for easier dismounting. Meeting the girl's eyes, her simmering violet gaze quieted to a calm purple, and she held the gaze for a few moments longer before bending her head and huffing the girls hair gently. "You have my permission" she acknowledged, bending down and shifting her weight. Now she felt mildly foolish for having thrown such a fit, but really, if they were going to throw away all the old bonding laws, then why have a bonding ceremony in the first place? Tradition was vitally important in her mind.

She smiled, pleased. Climbing back into the saddle, she retightened the straps around her legs. Glancing around after she had finished, Arya noted that many of the others had successfully saddled their dragons, though some seemed to be struggling. She also noticed the amount of dragons with displeased expressions. "I guess you dragons really don't like saddles," she commented. She noticed a disgruntled-looking white dragon near where Nyx had stalked off. Another furred female looked less than pleased with the saddle her rider was attempting to attach to her. Arya chuckled slightly as she watched the dragons. She understood their displeasure, it was similar for her when she was forced to wear a dress.

"She has no right to disrespect Neryth!" Nyx snarled. "I know she lost her past rider, but lashing out at the Head Dragon and refusing to work with others? She's always been cold and unwilling to help out around the Order unless she was told to directly." Nyx snorted, her eyes narrowed. She scraped her talons against the ground in frustration. She hated confrontation or issues between dragons. It made working with others very difficult, but she wasn't going to stand for something like that. "I'll still follow Neryth's instructions. She told me to stay with Vervada and the girl, so I will. But don't expect me to like it."

She shifted on her talons, impatient to take off. Flying had always made her feel a lot better. It allowed her to clear her mind.

Vervada straightened as Arya began restrapping the leg straps, finally able to have a moment to look around. Surprisingly, her fit didn't seem half as bad as some others the dragons had planned, she could see one eyeing it's rider with an "Are you insane?" look. At her rider's comment she snorted "No we do not." she said shortly. Then after a moment's pause, "But it's always a bit better when we're in the air, since we don't have to move our legs" she added. "Most of them are throwing fits because they haven't ever been ridnest or saddled, so they don't know that" she said thoughtfully. Shifting under the saddle she huffed as it rubbed her scales again, glancing at Neryth. She hoped they wouldn't be waiting for the youngsters long, she wanted to get into the air! And she did hope that Arya would be able to hang on.

"Huh," she said, thinking about what Vervada had said. "So it's mostly just the straps rubbing against your legs that you don't like?" She frowned, thinking. "I would say we could see if there's a way to alter a saddle so that it doesn't rub against your legs, but I don't think that's possible. I know saddles are made with chest and leg straps to make them the most secure. Although I think that formal saddles can be altered more." She paused, squinting at the air. She was picturing in her head how it might be possible, but she couldn't think of any possible way to help relieve the discomfort without the risk of the saddle sliding. Arya sighed, shaking her head. "Yeah, I don't see how it would be possible. But if they bother your legs we can make sure the formal saddle doesn't have leg straps."

"We'll be off soon. Don't worry," he said, glancing around. "Most of the newbies have gotten their saddles on, so we won't have to wait very long," he paused. "Besides, you won't have to interact with her much once the training begins. We can always talk to Neryth and make a request that we're not paired up with them again." His gaze drifted back to the Queen, his face creasing in a slight frown. He was deeply concerned about this new bond.

Vervada turned to look at Arya "Well it's more like whenever we're moving our joints. In the air we don't move as much except our wing muscles, and those aren't strapped. On the ground our entire body is moving, and therefore rubbing against the saddle" she explained. She tilted her head at the thought of a saddle without leg straps. "Well the newer ones are more padded and don't rub as much.. and I don't think one without leg straps would be very safe or secure" she said thoughtfully. Turning her gaze back to the group around them she shifted, tail swishing impatiently. When were they going to leave?
