Gaelic blood just has a luck boost so if you want a battle wolf I would say hell hound ( I've never owned any of these I'm just looking at the game guide)

Depends on what you want. Hell Hound is good as a battle wolf. Gaelic Blood is just pretty, and sometimes a popular breeding wolf

What potions heals a broken tail? And if possible can I get a list of all the potions and what they heal?

You need a Yellow Healing Potion or a Robin Feather to cure a Broken Tail.

For future reference, the Injury Note on the wolf's page will always tell you which potion you need and which herbs are used to craft it.
Yellow heals Broken Tail, Red heals Infected Wound and Green heals Injured Paw; Robin Feathers, found by chasing off the birdwatcher in the Forest, heal any injury and restore the wolf's HP back to full.
