I'm a little confused.. I was under the impression that defects were (mostly) a bad thing. The exception being the color changing ones. Now I'm seeing people advertising defects in the auction that are even hurting the wolf's stats, and paying big money for squirrels with a defect and a boost. Should I be selling my defected squirrelkits? Are these desirable traits for some people?

If the squirrelis a defectxboost, that is desirable as it heightens the chance they will produce kits of similar standards. Other than that, I dont believe any non-pelt changing defects are desirable, unless the individual pack likes that.

So a boost-defect might have a higher chance of producing coat defect-boost?

On my other account I had a defectxboost one of his kits ended up having his defect

Yes, depending on the defect. There have been squirrels with no boost or defect lineage that have produced 'gifted' squirrels, but it is considered very rare. It's better if the parents have it as well. So if I have a squirrelwith a boost and a defect, does that have a higher chance of their offspring having the boost than a squirrelwith just the boost? I thought that having a specific trait increases the chance of the kits having that specific trait. I would still think boost+defect would be less desirable than just boost.

having a boost/defect = increased chances of it passing to kits. Since squirrels with both a boost and defect are rare, they are desirable. The only defects aside from the rare case of a boost/defect squirrelthat are desirable are coat changing ones, primarily chimera and vitiligo
