Leoric needed an actual horse buddy that he wasn't just training up to then sell/give away. XD So, Arion x Aethon and viola. Solaric Aiolos (Sol/Sola) 
Arion is a Greek horse who "is the swiftest and immortal with a dark mane" thus the dark mane.
Aethon is also a Greek horse of Helios, noted to not be immortal (at least it never said) so I'm pulling a little string and saying sometimes Aethon is a mare. Aethon is also known as "blazing" so the coloring and the sun being the stripe-like pattern!
