COI looks for the same ancestors from both parents. So, only ancestors in Both Lines (purple) will result in inbred pups. If the parents don't share any common ancestors then COI will be 0%. It's basically the chance for inheriting the same gene from an ancestor shared by both parents. In your example, both parents are inbred but have no common ancestors.
