Quick guide written for players looking to understand how the sanctuary works, written by yours truly. :]
Introduction
What is the Sanctuary?
The Sanctuary is a game feature that takes wolves from the free range and hosts a game wide auction every day with the chosen wolves.
⏰ Opening & Closing Times
Sanctuary opens to the game at 2am and closes bids at 8pm.
After auction closing, the wolves in Sanctuary stay displayed until the next opening.
🍄 Bidding on Wolves
Any player can bid on the wolves, provided they have enough mushrooms on hand to do so. An error will pop up should you not have enough mushrooms:
Oops! Insufficient funds to make a bid OR you have already placed bids using your mushrooms.
In normal player held auctions, the minimum increase on bids is 5 mushrooms. This is not the case for Sanctuary; the minimum increase is 1 mush The default highest bid is 20 mush, making the minimum bid you can make 21 mush.
There is no maximum bid or auto buy. Struggle Bus won a wolf for 30,001 mushrooms from Sanctuary once:
⚠️ If you have no space in your den at the end of the auction, you will not win the wolf. It will still show your highest bid but you will not be listed as the winner.
🏞️ Getting Wolves into Sanctuary
A mystery? Not really!
The optimal time to free range your wolves for Sanctuary is from 12:00am to 1:59am. This is right after the daily rollover till the start of the Sanctuary auction.
This is the time slot I've free ranged all my fodder and have almost all of them enter the sanctuary.
⚠️ There is criteria for wolves entering the Sanctuary. The ones I personally know are listed below, unless they've changed. The details for all these restrictions can be found scattered in the suggestion forums.
1. Wolves will only get in if they're 5 or under.
2. Wolves with certain higher rarity and dynamic base pelts will not make it in.
Why sanctuary instead of auction/raffle/selling?
I personally feel like wolves find better homes via Sanctuary. I also don't find the profit from auction / raffling worth it for the effort setting them up. Sanctuary is quicker and gets more attention for the wolves. Just an author's note, I guess.
