{ Name } Old Blue Soldier / / { Nickname } Soldier / O.B. / / { Age } 16 Years / / { Gender } Gelding / Castrated Male / / { Breed } Irish Cob / / { Appearance } (c) all images greenleaf-stock on deviantart.com Old Blue is a large Irish Cob, standing at a height of 16HH; he would be classified as a 'Grand' Vanner, if he was to be sorted into the three height classes for his breed. To accompany his height is a quite stocky build, with powerful muscle beneath a soft coat and a physique typically found in the stock breeds of the world. Though shorter than the typical draft horse, Old Blue has a broad build and has the capability to pull carriages and caravans, as well as perform numerous different disciplines; due to his muscle and large size, he can support heavier riders. As for his coloration, Old Blue is quite typical for the breed, and contrasts his name greatly; rather than any sort of blue tint or perhaps a roan, the gelding is instead a typical Tobiano pattern; he possesses a black base coat, with large white patches all over. A thick feathering circles all four of his hooves, possessing a white color with the occasional cream appearance depending on how the sunlight hits him. This is mostly due to dirt occassionally clinging to the hair, due to how often it brushes against the ground when he's in the pasture or running a course. As for his mane and tail, they both are of a decent length and thickness; his tail falls down to the beginning of the feathering around his ankles, possessing a dark ebony color, which appears to have the faintest tint of red under direct sunlight. His mane is of opposite coloring, a clean white that looks blond when the sun hits it just right, falling just to the center of his neck with his forelock seeming to act as bangs that hang over his eyes. / / { Personality } At surface level, Old Blue Soldier appears to be quite calm and collected; he holds himself with a sure posture, practically radiating a feeling of 'welcome, hello, I promise I am friendly'. He's a gentle equine, each step of his hoof placed carefully to avoid potentially stepping on tails, human feet, or potentially the back of another horse's hoof. He would never intentionally hurt another, and seems the biggest of sweethearts in his apology to make up for his error. As you get to know the Cob's personality, however, you will see that beneath surface level, he holds a great level of anxiety regarding the humans around him. It's subtle, clear only in the quickening of his breath or the consistent flicking of his ears, gaze flitting from person to person. He grew up around the creatures, and respects them greatly, but he can't help but to feel as though the ones he sees now will be replaced with new faces, leading to him in another trailer and on his way to a new place to get used to. Not all of Old Blue's behaviors toward people are nervous, however; the sight of tack is quick to lighten his mood, the gelding excited and shuffling eagerly closer, bumping his head gently against that of his rider with noises of utter joy. He has learned to associate tack with riding, never seeing them before he's loaded into a trailer, so he greets the sight with an entirely different approach. He loves having a rider atop his back, bareback or saddled up, and practically prances about, moving with what could only be described as unbridled excitement. He treats his work with a human atop his back as the most important thing he will ever do; the safety of his rider is his priority, and he will do everything so meticulously that he will panic over any mistake he makes, worried that he may have messed up so severely that he'll be sold once again. His hips jerk in what could best be described as a buck any time he lands incorrectly or makes a wrong step, though not with enough force to truly send his rider flying, only enough to slightly raise their behind from the seat. With other horses, Old Blue is at ease; he's got a good four years left in him, and he doesn't let them forget that he can still work just as well as they, should his abilities or age be brought into question. / / { Backstory } The young colt was born following the pairing a stud he'd never gotten the chance to meet and a darling, intelligent young mare by the name of Whistling Breeze, affecionately named Whistle by the toddler grandson of their owner. Old Blue Soldier was named for his fight to stand sooner than he could, and his determination to reach his mother's milk before any other foal in the barn could; he was deemed Soldier, with Old Blue coming from an older stallion on his sire's side. Whistling Breeze and Old Blue Soldier were practically inseparable as he grew, one day maturing into a fine young stallion. His growing up was quite normal for a sheltered horse, with the stallion being groomed to become a known name in dressage, with his master's eldest granddaughter atop his saddle. Alas, it was not meant to be. A heart attack claimed dear old George, who had written in his will that his business partner would claim full custody of the horses and property in his passing. Reginald was not an equestrian, simply in it as the financial manager and hoping to inherit a large sum of land to later sell to be the standing place of a new motel. The horses were sold, mother and son splitting ways for the first time in his six years of life. He'd spent the next four bouncing from property to property, too frightened of being without his mother and in the unfamiliar contraption, which he'd soon know as a trailer, that he had yet to be familiarized with. Somewhere along the road, after being studded out roughly four times, he had been gelded. He had eventually found a "forever" home at the age of 14 in the care of a sweet young woman he remembers being named Meghan. Meghan was a lifelong horse lover, riding and caring for them since she was able. She had cared deeply for each of her horses, and within her first year had managed to coax Old Blue out from his stall and into the pasture without fear that he'd be sold again. He was home. Meghan had been accepted into a prestigious school abroad at the age of twenty-four, and once again, at the age of 15, Old Blue Soldier found himself loading into a trailer to be sent elsewhere. That's how he found himself here; he still has trouble believing he won't be sold or abandoned again, giving the occasional nip or bump should a human come too close for his comfort or move quicker than he'd like to. A deep-set hatred of trailers had developed in the gelding, and even now he simply refuses to go in without being tricked. / / { Difficulty Level } 1-2; with his temperament, experience, and general trainability Old Blue Soldier is an ideal horse for a beginner, though is also a grand choice for more experienced equestrians / / { Rider } TBD / / { Crush/Mate } He's uninterested / / { Foals } He sired a few in the past, but none relevant to mention Edited at January 26, 2021 03:46 PM by ataciara

Version 1 - Herd / / K O H A N A
credit for this image and all others goes to LuDa-Stock on DeviantArt { Age } 8 Years { Gender } Stallion { Herd } __ Herd { Rank } Herd Stallion { Desired Rank } Lead Stallion, but he wouldn't dare challenge the lead; he'll likely just try to lure away a few mares for a harem of his own { Apperance }
Standing at 16HH, the tallest for a mustang even with draft and thoroughbred ancestry, Kohana is a stallion of great size, which is complimented by the muscle rippling beneath his dappled grey coat. His eyes are a deep whiskey-hued brown, seeming to hold a golden tint when the light hits them in just the right way. He is lightly scarred due to scraps for survival in the past, though not heavily prominent. { Personality } Though unusual for a stallion with the ambition to lead a herd of his own, Kohana is rather nonconfrontational; he'll avoid conflict until it is a necessity, though he can protect himself rather well. He is more one to sit back and to observe than to go right out and act before he can consider the consequences. Kohana simply doesn't believe in the brutish nature displayed by ambitious bachelors, eager to take over a herd at any opportunity that presents itself. Kohana doesn't believe in taking over herds, in slaughtering innocent foals that have done nothing to wrong him. He'll simply leave herds be, preferring not to disrupt their routine and their hierarchy they've already set in stone. Rather, he'll steal from them; it starts slow, with him allowing himself to be seen from a distance, to draw attention. From there, he'll judge his best approach depending on the mare and her preferences; he does, however, always remain true to himself and be upfront with what he can and cannot provide her with. The stallion is not against the idea of sharing his herd, though he is not necessarily fond of it either; upon the formation of his own herd he would never accept a stallion, nor would he chase away any of his colts that didn't show any ambition to become a lead one day; he won't send out colts that simply want to live among a herd, but colts that wish to lead will be told to pursue their dream. Kohana is family oriented and, honestly, quite stubborn; he will do things for the best of his family, but he will never do something he simply doesn't want to. He will prioritize his family over himself, and make sure their needs are met; he will never, however, make a decision solely with them in mind.

Caius (c) Miss-Ketchup on DeviantArt for this stock image and all others { Age } 7 Years { Gender } Stallion { Herd } Northern { Rank } Herd Stallion { Desired Rank } He's content, so long as he can stay with his family { Appearance }
A stallion of a solid black base coat, Caius's tobiano markings allow for a striking but still fitting contrast; each spot in which black meets white is circled with what appears to be a grey ombre, a shade somewhere in between that indicates the beginning of a new color. Evenly positioned on either side of his head are two eyes, deep pools that hold great emotion and betray each thought that runs through his head. When he looks at his family adoration, love, and a slight anxiety can be seen within their depths. Otherwise, they're gentle and he appears very approachable. His mane and tail both possess a white coloration, with his mane falling to the bottom of his neck, and his tail down near his hooves. His forelock, however, is the same color as his black patches. Just under his forelock, which nearly covers his eyes, is a white strip that runs down and around his nose; toward the top and slightly hidden by his hair is a crescent moon shape. { Personality } A passionate and loving stallion, Caius's family will always be put before himself or his herd; if something the herd desires would bring harm to his family, he will simply refuse to do it. Every large-scale action he takes, is taken to benefit his growing family. The herd is his second priority, and he would protect it with his life, even giving that up if he had to. He would never leave, even if god himself asked him to. He is loyal to the herd and will do anything the leads request of him, unless it comes between him and his family; he's no push-over, especially not when his beloved and his foals are involved. Generally, Caius is a very gentle lad; he wouldn't harm a fly unless a life depended on it, and even then he'd try to avoid any injuries. He simply won't fight unless he feels threatened or he absolutely needs to. Needless aggression is simply not in his nature. will be added to as he develops { Crush } the one and only Ashanti { Mate } his heart belongs to Ashanti sorry ladies { Kin } just the obvious; his mama isn't there, and his siblings have moved on { Offspring } - Margarita - Amaury { Relationships } ASHANTI -- A childhood friend and his beloved, Ashanti is the only mare his eyes follow, and the only one he cares for as a romantic partner. He is greatly protective of his lover and simply refuses to share, no matter who you are. Should another mare make advances on Ashanti, Caius will be on high alert around him as soon as he finds out. MARGARITA -- His first-born and therefore his eldest daughter, Caius is especially protective over this young damsel. Any colt (or stallion as she grows older) found to be crushing on her or otherwise interested will be tested, and watched closely any time he nears her. He adores his daughter, and that much is clear in the way he interacts with her. AGUTA -- This old mare is his mother, and a horse that he respects more than any other. He is quite overjoyed any time he gets to see her, and acts as though he's a colt all over again; they often frolick and goof around any time they bump into each other, and it's quite the heartwarming sight.

{ Age } 19 Years { Gender } Mare { Herd } __ { Position } Herd Mare { Desired Position } She's content; she's too old for anything else { Appearance }
A rather plain mare, Aguta is of grullo base coloring with tabiano paint markings hiding her dark coat; starting at the base of her neck and trailing all the way down to her rump, white appears to be the primary coloration of this mare. Her head, trailing down to her breast to just between her white forelegs, a single medium-sized patch on her right wither, just before her left hind-leg in the crease of her stomach and leg, and a bit of a large area before her rump are the only grullo colored pieces of her coat. Trailing from forehead to nose is a streak of white, seeming to split the two grullo sides of her face in half. On either side of her head are brown eyes, dark pools that seem to hold endless wisdom. Her mane and tail possess a dark brown coloring, appearing black in certain lightings. Her mane falls to just below the crest of her neck. equal to the level of her eyes, should her neck be held paralell to the ground. As for her tail, that falls to just below the point of her hock. Standing at 14 hands and weighing in at 800 pounds, Aguta is a very much average mare in terms of size and build; however, she is a bit thin due to age and generally not being able to truly take care of herself any longer. Littered across her thin frame are numerous scars, including one that blinded her right eye from a survival scrap against a wolf in her younger years.
{ Personality } She can't remember a time she wasn't caring for foals, or guiding her small herd through the dangers of the wilderness. Simply out of instinct, she will go out of her way to help those that appear to need it; unless, of course, they have proven to her that they or others would be better off if left to die. She has accepted she isn't in charge of this new herd that she joined following the death of her beloved Kanut and the splitting up of her old herd, though she still does sometimes forget this IS a new herd. In her old age, Aguta has found herself to become rather forgetful; she will sometimes forget where she was, or why she was doing something. Most often, she will forget the faces and names of those she has met in her travels; she has yet, however, to forget her beloved or the foals she has birthed throughout the years. Carrying a vast wisdom obtained through nearly twenty years of roaming the earth, this mare seems to hold a great yet gentle confidence when she is granting new wisdoms to a younger horse; she is gentle, maternal, so as to avoid startling them, yet confident to make sure they are aware she knows exactly what she's talking about. Challenging her wisdom and her advices will often earn a simple look of disappointment and a calm phrase, "I cannot make you listen to me. But you'll see I was right."
{ Crush } These colts are way too young for her { Mate } The only stallion to hold her heart is Kanut { Kin } She is the mother to Caius, and is open to have mothered any horse aged four and older (excluding 6-7 due to Caius) { Relationships } KANUT - Her lover of over a decade, Kanut was the leader of their herd at her side for many years. He sired all of her biological offspring, and she loves him dearly; following his passing at the age of eighteen, she refused to remain among the herd due to a lack of desire to lead alongside the new stallion; she was useless to him due to no longer being of breeding age, and she knew that. CAIUS - A stallion, and her youngest colt, Caius is aged seven years and has been on his own for three; she has not seen him since he reached adulthood, but she never forgets the face of one of her foals. Should she see him again, she will accept him warmly and invite him to stay. ASHANTI - The beloved mare of her son, Ashanti is considered family by the old mare purely by that association. She watched her grow up alongside Caius, but lost contact with the two following their fleeing to join another herd when he came of age. MARGARITA - Her granddaughter that she has yet to meet and form an opinion on. BEAU - Her grandson that she has yet to meet and form an opinion on.

{ Age } 26 Years { Gender } Mare { Herd } __ { Herd Rank } Herd Mare { Desired Rank } She's content where she is { Appearance }
A very much experienced mare, Naledi is scarred from brawls for her survival in her younger days. She possesses a chestnut roan sabino painted coat, much more faded than shown in the image due to her advanced years; she appears almost white, the red a mere tint. The paint markings are visible only because they're much whiter than her overall coat, which appears more of a grey-red.
Her eyes are a gentle brown, seeming to reveal endless wisdom as you peer into their depths; if eyes are the window to the soul, then Naledi's eyes are freshly cleaned windows, revealing all to those willing to look inside. Her mane and tail, though naturally a beautiful shade of red-brown, are now both heavily streaked with grey. She is a decently sized mare at 15HH, though she usually carries herself with her head low and shoulders hunched due to a lack of energy, so she appears smaller.
{ Personality } A mare wise beyond the years of her younger companions, Naledi is happy to carry the knowledge and share it with the younger horses. She holds her information with great dignity, regardless of how sad it may be; history is to be remembered, not swept under the dirt. She makes this very clear whenever a younger horse calls her stories simply that, a story; she will give them a firm-headbutt and scolding, but nothing serious. She is gentle but firm in her dealings with the foals; she will treat them as they are, but make sure they know they need to grow up eventually, and become their own horse. Especially the young colts, who need to rely on the stallions to learn how they should go out into the world, and how to defend themselves. She isn't afraid to put the dominant horses in their place from time to time, though she hasn't really had to, and even the rest of the herd. She treats them all as though they're still foals, though she knows she will need to let them "grow up" eventually. She lacks the energy to play with foals as she once did, and now makes up for it with her stories of the past. { Crush } Absolutely not, they're all babies { Mate } She once held the heart of a stallion named Tsela, but he's long gone (she was 20, he was 24 when he passed)

[ Name ] Lucia [ Age ] Six [ Gender ] Mare [ Herd ] Stolen Herd [ Rank ] Herd Mare [ Appearance ] credits to tigressstock on DA { Lucia is a bay mare with a white stripe running from her forehead to her nose; she has intelligent brown eyes on either side of her head, and a sort of grey-pink nose. Her hooves are a dark grey-black, and her legs are the same solid bay as the rest of her. She's a smaller mare, standing at only 14 hands. } [ Personality ] A finicky and generally uneasy mare, Lucia was constantly seen hovering around her companions; especially her sickly first foal, desperate to see all of the others make it to adulthood. She frets constantly over their wellbeing, panicking over every little stumble and scratch; she does this for all of her foals, even ones she's simply taken in. She's very affectionate to her young and the other members of the herd, grooming and playing (especially playing with the foals, as it's important to their development), and always grazing alongside other horses while her colts nurse. She's quite friendly on top of that, never speaking an unkind word toward anyone unprovoked; the worst she'll do is rear and kick in that general direction until the hint is taken. She cannot bring herself to lay harm on another horse. A mare that was still nursing, she is quite on edge in the presence of anyone that can be considered a threat, including her own lead stallion; she will pin her ears back and paw at the ground, standing between her foals (or, due to their absence, any other mare) and the potential threat until they've left. She prioritizes her foals over herself, and every decision she makes is with them in mind. [ Crush ] None [ Mate ] None [ Foals ] Hadrius, colt (deceased)

A B E A U [ Age ] Twenty [ Gender ] Gelding [ Breed ] Percheron [ Handling ] Abeau is highly trained; a patient horse, he is suitable for both newer riders and those of great experience. He's most prepared for pulling a carriage or sleigh, though he has been trained in show jumping and dressage. [ Difficulty ] Abeau is great for both inexperienced and experienced riders due to natural temperament and his training [ Appearance ] (c) adeliepenguin on DA
An originally black-coated stallion, Abeau was quite the looker in his younger days. He has, as typical for his breed, greyed out in his advancing age, much lighter than shown in the picture above; he's more of a vaguely darkened grey, dappled with much lighter spots all over; his face, as shown above, his practically white with age. His eyes, lacking the energetic light of a much younger equine, are an intelligent yet rather dull brown. He carries himself with confidence, though his head naturally hangs low and he seems to not have any energy in his stride. His working-gait is much different, possessing the energy of a young colt. He stands at 19 hands, weighing 2,600 pounds. [ Personality ] A purebred Percheron, it is safe to say this gelding holds the usual temperament of the breed; sweet, patient, stern and tractable. As for his sweet side; Abeau is constantly seen making life easier for his assigned rider, as well as the horses around him. He tends to avoid conflict, instead trying to play and show affection to ease tensions. He knows he's a large horse, as is expected of his breed, and will lower himself as needed so that his rider can mount. He's a tad lazy, as expected for his age, but quite hard working as well; when in the paddock he mostly lies down or walks around grazing. He seems to flip a switch when the tack is on and a human is atop his back; he runs with the energy of a young stallion, eager to show that he currently is not ready for retirement. He will sometimes buck and rear while in the pasture just to catch the attention of the humans and show he still has the drive to work and play. Just to show off, he can sometimes be seen prancing about and pushing at heavy objects to show he is still as strong as any young stallion. This is for the humans, rather than mares; he has no interest in siring any foals, and though he is polite, he does work to ensure no mare gets the wrong idea. This gelding is, though already highly trained and old, very adaptable and quick to learn; he's determined to learn everything his human wants him to do, even if he does fail. Despite this, he is very stubborn as well; if he doesn't want to do something, he won't.

Personality: Lenka is a stallion of great ambition; he will stop at nothing to ensure he maintains the largest harem known, this includes chasing away every stallion that can potentially challenge his leadership at any point. He chases away all colts when they are of age, kicking and rearing until they've taken the hint and do not return. He will not accept other stallions into his herd, fearing they will try and steal his mares that he's worked so hard to gather and maintain. He doesn't believe in sharing, nor does he believe another stallion can join without the intention of stealing his mares. Lenka is not above the killing of colts should they return upon being exiled. Toward the mares within his herd, Lenka shows only minor affection; he doesn't play favorites, not feeling much need, nor does he feel romantically attracted to any of them at this time. They are here for his protection, and that is what he focuses on primarily. Lenka is driven heavily by his ambition, caring for seemingly nothing but his authority over so many mares; he outright ignores the lead mare in some decisions due to her being only one of so many, and he has gotten it in his head that he is the sole leader of this coalition. . . . V I H O [ Age ] Six [ Gender ] Stallion [ Herd ] None [ Rank ] Bachelor [ Appearance ] Viho is a leopard-spotted appaloosa; possessing a silvery-white base coat, spotted with faded-black or solid-black all over. His mane and tail are a blond color, silvering toward the roots. He possesses eyes of a blue-brown hue, with the whites of his eyes readily visible at all times (as is common in appaloosas). He stands at 16 hands, weighing 1,250 pounds.
[ Personality ] Viho, true to his name, acts as though he is in charge of every situation he puts himself in; which, really, he is. He always finds a way to turn a situation to be in his favor, and--being in his younger years--he has the advantage of energy and power against older stallions. He's a relatively dominant stallion, though he does know when to step down and let his companions take over; he's currently on his own, and the independent nature of a bachelor is quite obvious in the way he carries himself. His head is always held high, chest out and tail lifted. Viho is a more adventurous and reckless stallion, though he does know it takes responsibility to form and lead a herd; he's fairly observant, though he puts most of his energy (currently) into exploring and finding herds to steal a mare from. So far, he has been chased away from all advances, but he remains hopeful.
He's more enigmatic than anything when he first meets someone; he doesn't reveal his feelings or thoughts in great detail, and his face remains for the most part blank. He makes his advances after nightfall, to avoid a higher likelihood of being caught by the resident stallion(s). [ Crush ] N/A [ Mate ] N/A [ Foals ] He has sired no young as of yet
