Savage Embers
It's been years since devastation and destruction were brought to Ederia at the hands of a jealous and power hungry kingdom. It was a dark time for the citizens of Ederia, and many lost loved ones or their own lives in the process. None know this more, though, than the dragon riders of the Kingdom, as many of their brethren were slaughtered in the original attack, or captured and forced to work against their will for the invading Kingdom.
Thankfully, hope wasn't lost, as it rode on the backs of a newer group of dragon riders who had managed to evade and escape the ensnaring grasp of their attackers. Able to flee from sight, and train over time while gathering allies and help in order to return and retake their home. Days after exhausting days followed, the dragon riders and their allies battling tooth and claw, knowing it was succeed nor or never.
The final day of exhaustive battle found the remnaints of the dragon riders and their allies standing on top, and while their losses were great, they allowed Ederia to rise back up and rebuild.
It's been years since then, and Ederia and her people have rose from the ashes to surpass it's previous might, becoming one of the most powerful Kingdoms in the region. It's also been years since they've created any new dragon riders, having focused on rebuilding the demolished kingdom and becoming a beacon of peace and hope for others. However, for the first time in years, the Kingdom has decided that it is time.
The Choosing Ceremony will Commence. A new wave of dragon riders will be brought in as the first new ranks since the original attack. There is some hesitation in the kingdom, some believe it was having dragons that made them a target to begin with. While others are adamant they need them to just feel safe since it was dragon riders who saved them all.
With a new Academy built from the ruins of the old, the Kingdom moves forward with baited breath to see what the future holds for them, and these new riders.

The Rules of the Roleplay
Follow all of WP's and Eve's Rules.
1. Be Active. Sometimes I'm not on for a couple of days, but I expect everyone to be as active as they can for the rp. Unless you are waiting for someone to post, you should be posting. Posts should be occurring every 3-ish days.
2. Reservations last 48 hours. You know how I work if they aren't done in time. You may ask for One Extention of Up to 12 Hours, but You Must Ask Before the Reservation has Expired.
4. Maximum of 4 Characters per Person for Now. I will require that you have at least one rider before making more than one dragon.
5. Semi-Realism and Semi-Literacy are required. Please do not make me explain myself.
6. I had an old rule here that I removed and I don't know what to replace it with, and I'm too lazy to think of something new.
7. The riders are new, they will not be experts at Dragon Riding. Mistakes will be made, and they do not know everything.
8. For now, your own dragon and your own rider cannot be partners, this it to prevent people from not having others to post with.
9. I reserve the Right to Deny Applications for this Rp. I won't tolerate disrespect or rude behavior if your application gets denied, or your reservation/character get removed due to inactivity. If you do, I won't even give you the option to fix it or return. If you are respectful, I am often willing to work with you.
10. Try to keep things even with genders, it's much more interesting if things are diverse.
11. LGBTQ+ is welcomed and allowed here.
12. Please put your favorite Dragon movie or book in the other section of your form if you've read everything.
13. As Mentioned: These are still kids. They shouldn't be expert assassins, or perfect swordsmen, etc. They can have training for things, but they're still just teenagers.
14. The Original Riders are pairs that have been together for years at this point. I'd like to see pairs from previous Burning Embers Rps, but it isn't required.
Choosing Your Partners
I have decided to, once again, change things. Gotta keep things fresh yanno? It's familiar, and straight forward, but there are somethings to abide by, or keep in mind.
I am allowing you guys to choose your own partners this time, I will set a Deadline that you'll need to choose by otherwise I will asign you one myself. However, there are a few things to keep in mind.
1. Your character must be acceped by me First.
2. Dragons decide, so I would like you to reach out on behalf of your own dragon, if you have one, and let others come to you for your rider. Of course I can't really control this, but I'm going to pretend everyone is following it. [Exception being for the Mentors and Squad Leader since they're predetermined.]
3. You can only be paired with the same roleplayer once, unless I say otherwise.
Might add more, Im not sure.
The Academy Rules will be Created as the Rp Goes Considering the Academy was Destroyed in the Attack.

About the Academy WIP
About the Dragons There are a variety of dragons in the world, though everyone single one of them fall into one of the classes listed below. Instead of giving them a Singular, Pre-Decided Ability, I've decided to give you more Creative Liberty with Your Dragons.
All the dragons in the Rp are the same age group of young adult, which is the stage where they are 50 years old or above, becoming full adults at about 250 years. The older a dragon gets the longer the aging stage lasts, ergo ancient is longer than adult, which is longer than young adult, which is longer than their adolescent stage, and so on and so forth. Dragons are considered semi-immortal but it has never been proven what age they die naturally at.
For the Purpose of this Rp, all Young Adult Dragons that are New Dragons are capped at 19 Feet Tall. The Original Dragons are Capped at 21 Feet Tall, and, at most, can be 257 Years Old, Making them Barely Adults. I've based this on the largest I would allow the Young Adult Dragons in former versions of this Rp.
For your dragons, though, it will be up to you to come up with their abilities and their individual weaknesses. Of course, I will have a specific set of Weaknesses that apply to ALL dragons, but each dragon will also have their own. You must have 1 Weakness for Every 1 Ability they have. So if you give them 5 Abilities, you must have 5 Weaknesses for them as well. This is to keep balanced, so no one's dragon is OP. If I do not think you have balanced your dragon enough, they will not be accepted.
ClassesI want to try something.There are a variety of dragon classes alive today. Below is a list of dragons available. If you're creating an Original Dragon, you can choose one from the list. However, if you choose to make a New Dragon, it will be like a scratcher card, and you'll have to choose a number on the card below. Whatever is underneath it when I scratch it off will be the dragon class you will use for your New Dragon.
Or. If you're feeling really fiesty, you can let me choose for you. ;D
If this turns out to be something that is unpopular, I may come up with something else, but I wanted to try something new.

Capped at 2-3 Each. Characters who were in Previous Burning Embers Rps automatically are allowed to have that Class Type. If the type is not on the list, it is not available.

Role Explanations
This Rp will be Done a Little Differently. Instead of a Squad Leader and Two Mentors, there will be Original Dragons & Riders, and New Dragons & Riders, or Rookies. There will be 1 Overall Squad Leader, and 1 Over-All Second in Command as well.
Original Dragon Riders
These are the Dragons and Riders who were the last group created right before Ederia was attacked. They were able to escape, and later come back and free the Kingdom from it's new tyrannical ruler, and fortify Ederia's new foundations as it rebuilt. It's been 7 Years since they were originally chosen, and they have years and countless battles of experience beneath their belts.
Each Original Rider and their Dragon will become a Mentor for a New Rider and their Dragon, possibly up to two pairs if there's enough Rookies. They will be in charge of training them, teaching them, and supporting them throughout their beginning as Dragon and Rider. The Goal is for Each Original Rider to basically be Training their Second In Command, so that the following groups of riders can fill the slots of several new teams or squads, until they can start forming a new team each year.
Amongst the Original Riders, a Squad Leader was anointed by the Rulers of Ederia to lead the groups, and begin a new Academy of Dragon Riders. This Squad Leader will be choosing a Second in Command or Two from the rest of the Original Riders.
The Second in Commands will be Chosen in Rp, so that role is NOT Reservable.
Rookie Riders
These are the brand new Riders and Dragons that will form the newest Dragon Rider Pairs of Ederia, the first in over 7 Years. There is a lot of pressure on them to succeed and do well for Ederia, as not all of the community supports them due to the worry that history might repeat itself. They may even feel the pressue of living up to the name that the Original Riders have created for themselves. Either way, they are the first new set of Dragons and Riders who will help pave they way for future generations, or destroy it. |

At first glance it's easy to see the young woman for what she is: a taller, elegant beauty that has a frosty coldness to it. At 5'9", Mariana is slightly above average in height with a soft, but lithe build, seemingly designed for grace and poise. She has a slender neck, narrow shoulders, and delicate collarbone, with a smaller bossom but not one that is entirely flat and unfeminine. Her waist narrows before flaring out a bit at her hips and giving way to mildly toned legs. She isn't model thin, but the kind of timeless beauty that never ceases through out the ages.
With her heart shaped face, Mariana has a narrow, pointed chin and high, prominent cheeks bones most would die to have an ounce of. It gives her a somewhat exotic look that allows her to grab and hold attention, but not so exotic to be completely out of place. She has a small, straight nose, with a narrow bridge and nostrils and short tip. Her lips are smaller, but a perfect cupid's bow shape, with her bottom being just slightly fuller than the top. Now her eyes are what grabs people the most. It captures them, seemingly entrancing them so it's near impossible to look away. In shape their deep-set and hooded, an almost sultry or seductive edge always being present in them. However, that molten level of desire is iced over by the frozen beauty of her irises, which are a pale blue-green so light they resemble sea foam during winter. The combination makes it difficult for others to look away, to break away from that ensnaring gaze until absolutely necessary, it's almost haunting really. Above her eyes are thinner, well groomed brows that seem to only accentuate the look of her eyes. Below her left eye, near the outside corner, is also a small beauty mark.
With pale creamy flesh of a fair complexion, Mariana can easily be described as beautiful, with her skin being absolutely flawless. There isn't a scar or blemish in sight of it, the only real thing that might be considered a 'flaw' is the beauty mark beneath her left eye. Upon her head are thick, lucious locks that color of chestnuts. It's not a shade too dark where it clashes with the pale features of her face, but it adds depth and diversity to her appearance, seemingly only adding in to the draw that is in the young woman's aura. Her hair is on the longer side, with the ends reaching just past her upper back when she lets it down. However, Mariana tends to where her hair up in a tail or in a braid, with long, side sweeping bangs and loose tendrils to frame her face.

Backstory:
Born into a family of high nobility, Mariana was raised around lords, ladies, and political mind games. She grew up in the lap of luxury where everyone smiles to your face, but is trying to rip the clothes from your back. The Cross family, in particular, is an old family in Ederia, with whispered rumors of them being around since it's founding. Her father is a powerful man within the Kingdom, his wealth and respect earning him a high place in society, and her along with him. However, the family doesn't really speak of her mother, the woman took off after having Mari and her siblings, claiming she was going to persue her lifelong dreams of art and music away from their father's commanding hand. She wanted to live free and wild as the daisies that grew along side the rode. Mariana hated her for it, and so did her father.
With a strict upbringing of rules, manners, and heightened expectations, Mariana grew into a respectable young noblewoman. However, it seems her mother's wandering spirit didn't go inherited, and lately Mari has found herself wanting to get out and see more than the world besides the marbled floors and decorative curtains she was raised around.
