Why does she want to replace her mate though? Can't she just chose someone to be the next alpha instead of mate with them? |

The pack laws state the only way to be Alpha is to be born into the rank, OR to be picked as the alpha's mate. She was picked by her mate to be Alpha with him, therefore there are no other kin to the dead alpha to be the new alpha. (And she's still too new to being alpha to think of changing pack laws) |
