They'll for sure introduce themself as Bri to the Misfits group as another way to distance themself from the other protectors. Though Aries will be allowed to keep calling them Briar if he wants... boyfriend privilege, lmaooo

Radiation manipulation is just the ability to, well, manipulate forms of radiation radiation (energy in the form of unidentified forces produced from thermal emissions, electromagnetism, nuclear fission chain reactions, or radioactive decay). This would mean he would be unaffected by being in or around anything like this, could alter or redirect the energy (basically just move it around), and could offer resistants to others so they wouldn't get affected by the toxicity of radiation as well. In combat, this could be useful if Garvin inflicted a large portion of radiation, resulting in radiation poisoning. Although this power won't be too useful on Earth, more so on certain parts of some planets :)

I figured, lol, I more so meant Briar wouldn't care that much if Aries called them, well, Briar. The fact that it's Aries balances out the new negative association with the protectors, and paired with the fact Cam helped them chose the name at first, really the only problem would be new people coming in and using it... It doesn't make much sense on paper, but Briar's mind has an interesting way of dealing with trauma, especially abandonment trauma XD

Also, I'm so deep into the hole of T8P (2.0) angst right now, but I can't think of another short story and I'm kinda tired right now, so take some (somewhat) angsty information istead, lmao. It's basically all Nico and Briar though, since they have the most heavy angst, lol

As mentioned before, Nico's previous selective mutism is triggered again after the whole kidnapping. Up until (probably) sometime after Briar, Aries, and the Misfits rejoin the rest of the protectors, Nico will pretty much only talk with Garvin and Bernard. The drinking and drugs may alter this slightly, but for the most part, it really is just those two he'll talk to at all. The second someone else enters the room, she'll shut down and only communicate through sign language or writing. They know sign from when she had SM as a kid.

Briar's dissociation episodes as well as panic attacks grow much more frequent after exile. Then even worse after losing their arm and eye. Up until they've known Stellan for a while, Aries will likely be Briar's only real source of grounding since, though Lux is mostly trusted, they're not nearly as close or well-known.

After the kidnapping, Nico refuses to be alone, even for a second. Like, they already had seperation anxiety, but now it's 10 times worse. They'll be clinging to Bernard and Garvin while also trying to avoid being touched unless they initiate. If he ends up alone in her room, it's an immediate freak out, they'll end up in their closet and refuse to come out, probably for hours.

Not angst, just a fact. Of my characters, Briar will be the first to forgive Akira. This has to do with their ability to see the intention behind peoples actions.

Akira refuses to let anyone else see them break down, the only one who's seen it is the Time Elder (don't have a name yet-), and, uh-

I mean, he uses it to make things worse, so-

Nico always prided themself on the ability to smile and make others smile, even in hard times, in fact, it was a promise she made River to keep smiling and being himself. After having her lips sewn shut, however, even after healing, it makes smiling very painful, especially on bad pain days. Because of this, Nico kind of ends up fearing laughing or smiling... being happy.

Briar pretty quickly steps up to take the leader role as the Misfits form, mostly because they're the most powerful at the moment (which will be explained later, I promise I'm not just disregarding Aries' power, haha), but there are pain days due to their missing arm and eye that are so bad they physically can't get up. Not to mention mental breaks that, again, start happing quite often after exile. On days like this basically the only thing anyone can do is watch them and try to get them to take pain meds. Briar will also consistantly ask for Aries, even if he's already there, because their brain is so paranoid about losing him.

Nico's first instinct after coming back to reality is going to be to apologize. To Garvin for not recognizing his struggle, to Bernard for both "going missing" and for causing him so much work and stress, and to the others for "going missing" and being a "pain to deal with." Though, whether he'll actually go and talk to the others is hard to know, they may just ask Bernard to apologize for her.

Yeah, Aries has plenty of experience in switching names around when one gets to be too traumatizing to hear. Which is the main reason why he'd probably be very adamant about only calling Briar the name they want to be called. So unless Briar explicitly states that they want him to call them Briar still, he'll probably use Bri.

His chronic pain and fatigue are only worse in T8P 2.0 because he don't even have his adrenaline ability to help him ignore/block out the pain. Dude has to rely solely on drugs for that kind of thing.

Garvin so going to be confused by Nico's apologies though lmao

In the meantime, I forgot to tell you something!

One consequence/side effect of Garvin being high/drunk/under the influence of something constantly is going to be that the hush programs are way weaker. So him talking about that stuff is actually more likely than in AFCS. Get that notebook ready haha

Of course, most of the time he'll trail off before finishing any stories. Or most sentences in general. And it takes quite a bit to actually get drunk/high/whatever it is enough for the hush programs to chill.

Another thing that isn't as good for healing probably though is that self-harm programs get stronger instead of weaker.

So, certain programs (like the hush programs) are getting weaker, while other programs (like self-harm programs) are getting stronger. Do with that information as you will haha

Very fair, that works for Briar, they probably won't ever really say anything specifically to Aries at all, actually. They'll most likely just come out of the bathroom one day with blue hair and then, when they meet new people, just casually introduce themself as Bri, lmaoo

Yeah, Nico's pain days probably won't be nearly as bad as Garvin and Briar's though. Her pain is very real, but the mental affect is honestly worse because he fully takes it all to be a punishment for something. Briar is gonna be in a shit ton of physical pain though. A lot of it phantom pain, some of it pain that just kinda goes through their whole body.

But, also, not positive yet, but I think if Briar is actually a system, it's gonna be a lot more clear in T8P than AFCS. Because even though they're dealing with ongoing trauma in both, they're kinda settled in to the gang, so even with switches and things, there would be a pattern, but with T8P they're fully dealing with new trauma.

They could also have OSDD 1-a with less distinct alters (different versions of the host or the same person but different ages) but still heavy amnesia, which, honestly, kinda sounds accurate for Briar. We'll see, I think once I start writing the actual Exile Arc things will become more obvious, haha

Yeahhh, that's fair for the two of them. Garvin likes to pretend the pain doesn't exist and ignore it as much as possible. Which, as you could probably guess, doesn't help it at all.

And oooo- Briar being OSDD-1a would make sense. Garvin is, of course, still polyfragmented. C-DID, other than the Midas Sidesystem which would count as HC-DID. Oops.

Garvin and Briar get to bond over being systems, haha- Once they both accept it. Because I know Garvin is not going to want to believe it.
