Did I get that right?I do have an idea for Malaki, though - what if he shows his brutality in a justified way, like for example, exiling or killing someone who's actually done something horribly wrong, hence gaining him supporters and also frightening those who oppose him? It would aid his manipulation and his influence on the storyline in general by making him seem like a "hero" of sorts. And his supporters could justify anything Malaki has done so far by pointing out "Don't you remember that time he punished __________? See? He's a justified, reasonable leader."Yes, the elder part is correct.My character will begin to slowly realize that some things about the pairings seem a little off. He still remains loyal to Malaki and doesn't really question his leadership but he just wants to try and speak with him. That pisses Malaki off and Malaki will most likely lure the elder into the woods to kill him off then blame it on some animal or a "tragic accident".
Or, alternatively, Malaki could kill the elder, and then blame him for some kind of horrible crime - so that 1) no one would dare to grieve for the elder 2) everyone would see Malaki as a justified, reasonable leader who doesn't tolerate criminals 3) no one would question the elder's death (except the particularly rebellious ones) or try to investigate, so no evidence would be found.
This could show Malaki's brutal side, as well as his "caring"/charismatic, manipulative side.
The thing about having a "tragic accident" as a "reason" for the elder's death instead of having Malaki state that he outright killed the elder for treason is that it would probably rouse at least a bit of suspicion. It would allow investigations to progress quickly, which could be extremely helpful to the roleplay and quicken the pace of the story. On the other hand, Malaki's supporters would have less reason to follow him... but that depends on whether you want to immediately paint him as an antagonist to the other characters.
