Late, but... Bear, you handled that in the best way possible. I'm a bit of a pushover, so I would just opt out of the RP myself to avoid conflict. So... glad you put that person in their place so people like me with no backbone don't have too. Also, I've seen those characters who are just like an entire pity party in their character sheet but when roleplaying them they're just confident and outgoing, and just nothing's wrong with them except for one negative thought that they keep repeating. I hate pity party characters, and I hate the perfect ones too, so that's just icky

Bear, yeah I get that urge. At this point I think that's what a lot of people want in their RPs, which has gotten me recently wondering how compelling, interesting and unique my OCs actually are. :P

Discord I feel that. I have: -Emotionally damaged braniac FBI Agent -Confident, Arrogant, sort of rule-the-world type Lawyer -Tough exterior but a pushover who holds major grudges cop -Extremely nice, but also people walk all over him, flirts with everyone -Madly evil politician -Just really hyped up, talkative, friendly dude, acts childish. (Mostly used in canine RPs) Now that I look at them they all feel Cliche Edited at September 9, 2020 01:44 PM by Floofinator

Like I've been writing this new character that's an artist, and I'm been wondering just... what to do with her personality, because personality is important. So far I have these traits laid out- - Somewhat Introverted / Introverted. (Still contemplating) - Scatterbrained. - Empathetic. - Imaginative. - Bashful / Socially Anxious / Socially Awkward. (Still contemplating which... again) Jeez- This is suddenly sounding like the cliché artsy introverted girl that gets nervous in social situations. Looking at it now, she isn't compelling, she isn't interesting, or unique. I can't believe I thought I was on to something...

How about she's extremely extroverted, but her feelings are easily hurt, especially when someone tells her to "calm down", or "give it a break." She often repeats herself, and gets very socially awkward when someone tells her "We know," or "You already said that." I love the scatterbrained, imaginative and empathetic. You should make her an abstract artist that no one believes in but she keeps herself going by believing in herself. She could have some sort of fall-back career, maybe something that also isn't considered "practical" by society, like an actor or a singer (your choice.) When she gets mad (very rarely), it's very passive-aggressive, and she still hangs out with them in groups, but makes many back-handed comments. Likes to ramble, hates being put on the spot, she's a planner. The socially awkward thing can come here. She could be blunt, no filter, so she tries not to give her opinion because she doesn't know what's gonna come out. Just a few ideas to make her a bit more unique.

my two favorites were polar opposites -a selfish lawyer who held himself on pedestal, who always made everything someone else's fault and lived in the shadow of his far more rich and successful sister -a psychotic rock colllecting man-child who just,,, he just,,, something was wrong with him and then the one who might be my next fav if her RPs work out -a character based off myself who has dreams but is held back by fears and has morbid curiosity with lots of dead things. Used to be nice in the old version but i'm thinking of changing her to be just a little... off Edited at September 9, 2020 02:17 PM by .bewitched.

Agreed .bewitched. said: ChickenChu said: Waayy too smart characters Dont know how to describe it but like They can read your characters emotion immediatly
ah yes, like when a manipulative character with years of practice targets them and they respond with "She could hear the nervous quiver in their voice, like they knew they were on thin ice. She knew they were trying to manipulate her" not only controlling what the other character did and thought briefly but also asserting that your character is invincible and boring-
