i have heard both horror stories and peachy stories about them. i have no idea what to think, but i may try one at least once just out of curiosity

If you go the human paired with animal bud situation, I personally find it to be more fun if both of the OCs are yours. I'm speaking from OCs I've made and RP'd with, rather than RPs based around this concept.

do y'all have any tips for making a well-rounded jackass character? i want to make a character who's the definition of a jerk while simultaneously being the comedic relief, because they're just so gosh darn stupid and/or silly. i have another character that is comedic relief-ish while also being someone who says crude remarks to get reactions, so i'm trying to think of ways to not make this new character like the other.

Have you ever heard of a show called Corner Gas? There's a character there called Oscar, who is a ridiculous jerk, absoultely hilarious, and the definition of jackass. I think what makes him so laughable is the way his absolute determination to be horrible about everything makes him run circles around himself without anyone even trying. Perhaps try making someone who contradicts themselves constantly just to be right or to be pessimistic about everything. That might end up being pretty funny. I can think of more tomorrow, but I'm pretty tired right now.

and i will check out that character!! i wanted to try another energetic character who is off-the-bat annoyed by absolutely everything, but i already have a handful of energetic characters so i think that comedic relief part will tone it down lol. i'm either going to do massive pessimist or raging anger issues

energetic characters are wonderful.

I've always had trouble with the thing humans call comedic relief so something just...happens and it turns out fine.

Anyone else find it funny when people don't want tof follow your RP rules in the sign ups and get mad when you don't accept them? Or when in a HUMAN RP someone tries to argue to play an animal?

A bit, but I try to work around the problem. A good compromise leaves everyone unhappy. soemtimes there's just no point to it though. Seeing all sides of the problem can get difficult
