Corax Noir said: I've seen people say their entire personality would be revealed in-RP. I guess they just can't think of anything? But personality is important, both to getting accepted and to RPing. I myself refer back to my character personality every time I write a post because my memory is that bad. But that's porbably just me.
Often on the first post I have several tabs open. one so I can see whatever posts have already been made, and one on my character sheet so I know what kind of personality they have. I may even have a few open to character sheets of people I am replying to.

Yeah, I do the same thing. And end up clicking through all of the tabs trying to remember which is which. I used to write my reply straight onto the website, but I kept accidentally exiting out. On a somewhat related note, just curious, how do you guys do backstory? Do you plan it all out beforehand? How much do you share? Have you ever actually gotten to reveal a big secret you planned? I find backstory the hardest part of a character, and it drives me absolutely insane rewriting a backstory that nobody will ever even read over and over again. Hehehe. I do that too. If I have a backstory it is normally written in the middle of the roleplay and not at the beginning. I don't normally have too much of one.

for backstories I just put in a vauge discription of what happened so I can reveal all the planed things later on

It's so difficult to think of a really good backstory. I've done it about about three times in my life. But then again, I've never had the chance to go in-depth with my character's backstory in-RP.

I don't like backstories much as I always feel like they're that sob story where both the parents died, the character became depressed, and now their just some sort of outcast. I mean sure, that could've happened, but people can move on from things. I mean it depends on like how long ago it happened, but you can always make it more interesting by saying a best freind came in to help, maybe they started opening up more so they didn't take others company for granted, etc. For example, I have a boyo who's mother passed of cancer and who's father is in a nursing home, but that doesn't make him all sad and depressed, he's just soft-spoken and quiet but is socialable. Like come on, I feel like I see too many sob stories.

At this point I've been trying to avoid immense sob stories when it comes to backstories for my OCs, because no one really sobs from them, lol.
