Unusually sleek fur for a wolf of her region, either a result of genetics or of her strict grooming routine, or maybe a combination of both. She's a decently sized she-wolf, but the largeness of her paws indicates that she should have been larger, had her birth year not been the famine year.
On her opposite side (right), there are large teeth-shaped scars that are almost disproportionately large to anything alive today. This was another result of an unfortunate childhood - her aunt's infanticide attempt on her litter. The scar has merely grown with her.
Pinja moves with a smooth gliding gait, usually a brisk trot with her ears alert, her gaze locked on something, and her head high. Unless she is around others, in which case her head is held so high that the back of her neck hurts from trying to keep it that way, and her chin is always lowered to be hovering just above her jugular... just in case. In these situations, she moves a bit more stiff, and her tail, which is usually relaxed and flowing behind her, is stiffened and straight.
Personality:
Callous | Reserved | Overachiever | Thoughtful | Impatient | Conflicted | Flighty
Pinja abuses her rank in the pack and uses it to avoid her worst foe; socializing with the others she shares her home with. Though the she-wolf carries herself in an often stuck-up and almost snooty matter, she's clearly uncomfortable in any area too densely packed with her fellow wolf, even wolves she really ought to know by now. She'd rather only hang out when necessary. Otherwise, she's making an excuse to patrol the same damn circle she's been patrolling all week.
This uneasiness around other wolves is also why she gets so stiff around them. Her head is usually held high, her tail straightened in a horizontal line, always unsure of what to think of anyone in her pack. She knows the conflict the pack is in can make anyone aggressive and on edge, and she does not want to risk being a target for this anger. Not that she'd cower and let them get away with it - the wolf has a fiery temper, and any insult towards her will not go unpunished.
Pinja is an overachiever, motivated by the desire to stay as far from a low rank as she possibly can. She is constantly trying to best her own previous records and pushing herself to do it fast. Though she's not a paw-licker by any means to any superior rank, she does desperately want them to notice her achievements and her abilities, and grant her some sort of immunity to demotion or give her some special privilege or... something. Something that reassures her she will never be looked down upon as a useless member of the pack.
Pinja can be surprisingly perceptive, but don't expect her to do much with the information she garners. Just because she's caught onto what you're hiding doesn't mean she'll say anything. Unless it is in her absolute best interest, Pinja will disregard most things that she catches onto early, and lock it away as a secret for herself. The she-wolf is more of a silent observer than anything, just a little fly on the den wall... she does take some silent smug pride in knowing that her reclusive behavior has made many wolves feel a bit too bold in talking about secrets right in front of her. They always think she isn't listening.
Despite having a good position in the pack, and having a pack to live in at all, Pinja is dissasistfied and conflicted with where she is right now. She does not like the tidy sorted system of the pack, it makes her yearn for the disorganization of her birth one, even if the place was miserable in every other aspect. She isn't too fond of the conflict with the other pack, but at least it gives her an actual job, because what else will an Upsilon do when there's no enemy to watch out for? She even finds her own rank annoying. Pinja thinks her cowolves step on her paws and her Tau can be irritating. She'd like to take that rank for herself, she thinks, but... well, she's never been a leader type.
Loyalty is a front and she's never really been genuine. She'll stick with the pack out of obligation, but if things are looking dire, and she sees an escape route or thinks she's healthy enough to pull through a winter on her own, she's darting out the back end of the territory. She's already found her escape route - not that she was consciously looking for one, but she spends so much time patrolling and stuck in her own thoughts, that she had to make up a pack-destruction scenario in her head to try to figure out how she'd survive such an event. And her solution was to abandon it. If she would not die for the pack she was related to, she would not die for the pack she has very few bonds in.
What Pinja lacks in social skills she makes up for in acrobatic skill, using it to further show off how good she is in her rank and abilities. She enjoys doing incredible tasks just to show that she can, and to try to get attention and favor of higher ranks.
Perhaps cliche, but under the rough exterior, Pinja can loosen up. She can be pup-like in her behavior, always seeking to wrestle and play annoying games. You almost wouldn't recognize her if you compared the happy upbeat Pinja to the typical almost brooding one. She has yet to really warm up to anyone to embarrass herself so horribly, though.
Backstory:
Formerly a dispersal who came upon Norden's borders before she was even aware of another pack in the area. She was around two back then, young and inexperienced, and doesn't know how her awkward, bumbling self got accepted into a pack. Since then she's secured herself a role... but is a bit dissastisfied with it and the general state of things.
She's never been too cheerful or outgoing. The pack she was raised in was a small family group that always had a bone to pick with each other. She was raised where wolves didn't really have a sense of loyalty, and they were together just by obligation to survive, not by bond. This is probably why she is as awkward and as cold as she is - she was never really taught how to reciprocate anything that wasn't bared teeth and bristling fur.
