Real Name: Atticus Brown
Hero Name: The Skeleton Archer (often shortened to The Skeleton)
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Appearance:
He has an oval face shape. His cheekbones are not prominent, but they do exist. His complexion is a pale and white, but not unhealthy. His body is mesomorphic which allows him to gain muscle easier. His muscles are not tense and hard. His stomach holds a usual amount of flab on it and his arms show potential that has yet to be achieved. He is of an average height, that being 5’ 9”. He might have more to grow. He weighs 164 pounds, a healthy weight for his gender and height.
His eyes are a grey. Not like the pale powdery ash from a dirty fireplace, but rather a dark, sincere color that is made from rain pounding a rock. Or perhaps a stone in a river. Either way, they are grey and almond shaped. They are average in place, right there on his face neither too close together or too far apart. Above them are thin eyebrows that slightly curve above his eyes. They match his gingery hair. His nose is average for his face, not too big but not too small. It’s a straight nose with just a slightly raised base. His cheeks are speckled with freckles that paint themselves up on top of his rather average nose. His lips are a soft shade of pink and grey. They are thin, but visible.
He is a true red head, not some off-brand orange like some Ron Weasley bloke. His hair looks like it came from an Irish Spaniel, even the way it is slightly curly. It is a rich color, dark ginger that sheens in sunlight. Like recently dug up red clay dirt after a rain. The texture is thick so he doesn’t need to worry about loosing it. It’s also fairly oily, but sometimes it can pass as just being sleek. He keeps it down and he keeps it on the longer side so that it’s right there on his shoulders. He usually keeps it up in a pony tail or a bun.
He’s usually in solid short sleeved shirts. Long sleeves are uncomfortable to him and are a bit for challenging to fold. Surprisingly, he prefers jeans to shorts and his feet are covered in an old grey pair of tennis shoes. He can be stubborn and won’t put on a jacket when it’s cold out. He refuses to unless it’s getting to the point where it’s ridiculous.
Super Suit (for when he gets one. There is a good chance that this will change):
His superhero costume looks like it’s something that villain would wear. It’s a dark grey hood in the medieval style. The color matches his unique eyes. It slightly droops over his face, but it doesn’t obstruct his vision. He wears a leather vest that is the same color as the hood. His matching pants are comfortable and is made of jean material. He refused to wear leather pants. They are dumb and give him a wedgie. His shoes are a pair of hiking shoes. Good grip and easy to run in. He does not wear a mask about his eyes as it would restrict his ability to aim. To keep his identity, he wears a loose, breathable mask that covers everything from the nose down. When it’s not one his face, it is hanging loosely around his neck.
Personality:
Atticus is a thoughtful person. Not thoughtful as in he cares for others, rather that he likes to think. He likes to watch other people move and work. Especially since he is curious by nature and this curiosity is the reason why he hangs onto the words of a storyteller or a good book. But also why he gotten in trouble before and he actually helped his mother loose custody of him. He’s nosy and willing to blab, maybe not as much after standing as a witness to his mother’s trial, but he’s still not the best at keeping secrets. He’s also a stubborn individual who’ll resist logical explanations on why he’s wrong and the sway of peer pressure.
He is selfish and is also willing to sell other people out for his own safety. However, he would never do that on the job…unless it meant for his own profit. Reputation is everything and you have to have a good rep to keep on the right side of the law. Long before he learned of his abilities, he day-dreamed about having super powers and how he’d live life afterwards. Naturally, he was always a hero. A villain will be caught, prosecuted and later euthanized. A hero will be praised and even worshiped. They can do their job successfully while keeping the press happy. All they need is a cool suit, an attractive ability and the right amount of motivation. He decided that he’d be in it for the long haul and he’s going to play his cards right. However, his abilities are anything but attractive as they’re sort of grotesque. Instead of his imagined elemental power of fire (to match his hair) and the humor of defeating bad guys by burning their hair off, he was gifted with bones and pain. Seemingly endless pain. His plans were ruined and he’s currently in an area of disappointment, distress and aggravation. Sometimes he wishes that this never happened to him because the dream is always better than reality.
However, he is cautious of others and is a suspicious person who always thinks the worst of situations. He will not accept death, however. He is determined to die as long as he can help it. He has had death in his life before and he doesn’t like it. He’d prefer to live a torturous life then to commit suicide. His donkey-like stubborn nature is good in this situation. He likes to think about things from all angles. Are dogs really furry angels of joy or are they selfish devils praying upon human weaknesses? He’s yet to decide and is surprisingly not a cat person. They’re too sassy for him. He’s a fan of birds, or burbs as he affectionately calls them. He’s especially fond of chickens and will bring them up whenever he can.
He can be kind and generous, but he isn’t naturally this way, not to strangers anyway. For him to give something up for you, you have to close and have gone through a lot. He’ll always be polite, as that was what he was taught from a young age. He’ll open doors for ladies and won’t act all creepy and stalk some girl. He’s forgotten his please’s and thank you’s and will only use them whenever he feels like it is absolutely necessary. He is always gentle with animals, no matter their type, despite any suspicions he might have. Unless it’s a cobra or a man-eating tiger, he’s not biased until it is shown that he should.
Hero, Villain, or Other:
Hero
Heroes get all the fun. Yeah, yeah, without a villain, a hero is nothing, but a villain doesn’t depend on heroes. But eventually, a hero always comes when there is a villain and it might as well be him.
Alignment:
Neutral Evil
He’s not evil. He’s not good either and certainly not truly neutral. This man, this boy, rather, is in it for the glory and for himself. A one man band who isn’t scared to betray but is wary to be betrayed. He’s selfish with high sense of survival, but he likes to manipulate this ability for his own glory.
Based Power:
Weapon
Sub-Powers:
The Bone Bow
Some call this magic, that the bow just appears out of thin air. But he knows better.
His bow is bone and cartilage. The string is tendon. It is produced by his own body as if it is an extra limb. It is an extension to his hand and while it is in use, you can see that his fingers are warped in the bone handle like they are roots. A thin layer of keratin covers the bow’s cartilage limbs so that it shines dimly in the light and looks sleek. He doesn’t know where it all comes from and it is only assumed that it is rapid reproduction made from his body on command.
The same go for the arrows. They form on his other hand quicker than what the bow forms. By the time the bow is complete, he has two working arrows. They form by his fingers being locked tightly beside each other. Then they intertwine together into the length of an arrow, that being at most two feet. They are long, thin, hollow bone with the tips sharped to a terrible tip that will make bleed by one mere touch. But a cover coats the entire arrow but its dreadful point. It is a thin layer of epidermis. Of skin. The fletching are mysterious and are often damp. Sometimes they drip with bodily fluids. It has been decided that they are thin, perfectly cut sections of hair which is the same shade as his head-hair. Perfect to the T with the index feather being just a shade darker than the hen feathers. After being shot and used, the arrow disintegrates into dirt. For, from the earth you were made to the earth you will return.
On his shooting arm, a hard shell of keratin covers his forearm. Meanwhile, his shooting hand’s fingers become leathery. His ability does not come with a quiver. That would be weird and uncomfortable.
Not as if the entire process isn’t painful. His body is actually making extra bone, extra skin, extra keratin, extra tendons, extra cartilage and extra hair for this process. Not only that, but it forms quickly, under thirty minutes so far. But it’s also his hand forming into a bow, his fingers are becoming vines and nails grow long and deep to cover up the bow’s long limbs The bone in his hands are being pulled and lengthened into a beautiful, haunting recurve bow. Then his fingers on his other side are producing arrows in fifteen minutes, a remarkable time! Not only that but keratin is stabbing out of his skin on his arm to act as an armguard. The tips of his worn, sore and hurting fingers are now leathery and tough, but still feeling. This is excruciating. He passed out whenever it happened at first and since then he’s been on pain medication for it. This ability is his body extending and ripping itself to unknown limits.
It’s a bloody transformation, especially on his shooting hand and fingers. The only reason why he hasn’t died yet is because his body regenerates and heals the wounds caused by his bow. This only applies to his bone bow skill, nothing else.
His bow comes out whenever he is scared and feels defensive. It’s so far just an emotional thing and you have to get a rise out of him for it to work. He has the potential to do it on command, but it needs work. He doesn’t like his power because it’s painful, awful and hideous. His skin turns a sick white and becomes thin so that it almost looks transparent. His hair looses some pigment and becomes lighter and lighter and lighter with every use. Slowly, but surely, his hair will be a crystal white by the time he is in his mid twenties. Because of his pale appearance when he is shooting, he has been given the name “Skeleton Archer” because that is exactly what he looks like. Although he can generate the equipment, it does not mean that he was an automatic archer. He, like any other normal archer, has to train to get a perfect score.
Main Teacher:
Mrs. Eve Hawkins/Fallen Pheonix
Side Teacher:
Elliot Thomson/Lynx
Crush: TBD
Significant Other: None
Family:
Father: Ransom Brown (deceased)
He loved and looked up to this man. Still does. He taught him some of the arts. One of his favorite memories is when he taught him some cool information about dinosaurs when he was little. He’d play games with him and went fishing. He was going to teach him how to barbecue, but never could. He died on his way to the supermarket to buy some baby back ribs and then a drunk driver crashed into him. Atticus was thirteen.
Mother: Gladys Brown (unknown)
He loves his mother, but he never sees her. She is at a rehab center. After Ransom’s death, she lost it and went back to the pills. Atticus went to live with his aunt and uncle.
Aunt: Indigo Weston (unknown)
Aunt Indy is his mother’s younger sister. She was glad to help her sister and wants Atticus’ welfare. Especially after he own son, Jacob, died from leukemia just a few years before Ransom passed. The boy was only 8.
Uncle: Eustace Weston (unknown)
Uncle Eu is usually at work. He lives an hour away from the office and has to stay in, and sometimes over night. He’s a doctor who works in a city that is particularly known for trouble. He didn’t feel the area safe for his stay-at-home wife to be in the apartment by herself. Especially since he usually ended up working the nightshift.
Recent Past:
In his old school, he wasn’t considered one of the popular or even half-way decent kids. Since there weren’t enough tables at the lunchroom, he was always one of the ones to eat on the floor. He wasn’t on the football team, he didn’t have a hot girlfriend or really any real friend. Just the sympathy friends that never stick around. He wasn’t one of the smart nerdy kids either. Just a mediocre Joe stuck in between athletic and smart. He was average.
This all changed when he fainted one day in algebra.
His teacher thought he had fallen asleep and when she walked up to him to whip him back to reality, she screamed bloody murder. He was ghostly pale and his hair was loosing pigment. Then his hand began to grow and blood was leaking from both his left and right hands. Then he was moved to Providence High.
He’s always dreamed of being some sort of hero. But not this power. Not this bone bow or the skeleton arrows. They are a villain’s weapon and he knows it.
He went through a small period of being shy about it and once he realized that the other people are just as messed up as him, he relaxed. He wasn’t just another kid, he was a kid with a unique set of abilities that the teachers were taking time to understand. He appreciates this and is willing to make new friends and take new chances.
Other:
Is he overpowered with both the bow and the “regenerative” power? I did it because he’d die from bleeding out if I didn’t have it. Also, I might change his hero name. “Skeleton Archer” makes rethink of Minecraft.
