═════════•♔• :Introduction: •♔•═════════

"I had freed you from your limbo. As such, you're indebted to me."

The year was 3032. The world as we know it changed when the Black Star Incident occurred in Straso City. No one knows what the star exactly is, but it released strange energy that became parasitic to those infected by it. The star didn't just harm humans, but the planet too, turning it into one power plant for it now. The Black Star had killed many but infected a few who were "lucky" enough to survive. A world where some of the human race had lost their humanity - they were converted into beings that break the laws of what makes them normal. Some can break reality, alter fragments of time, and even manipulate space itself. They were dangerous, unstable, and a threat to themselves and the human race. Those who were altered are shunned by their former kin - no longer accepted by them.

With their new abilities, some infected started committing crimes, some used their powers for themselves, and a few used them for the greater good. It got so bad that a third of the city was split apart from the other two and is now filled with crime, gangs, and extensive violence. Whatever the case, having a bunch of those altered roaming the city is a health hazard to everyone involved, and they needed someone to supervise the change before it's too late for Straso.

This birthed a facility that was constructed to detain those who were altered.

The Devil's Gate Regional Prison, or the DGRP, for short. Those untainted by the Black Star started to refer to the ones infected as Ducainos.

40% of the infected were captured, with the difficulty varying on the person. Many people died and were critically injured on both sides. Meanwhile, 60% escaped capture and hiding in different parts of the cities, using their powers in the shadows or openly displaying them without fear. With the still high numbers of Ducainos roaming freely, the DGRP and the government formulated a plan. A plan that's so risky that it might just work.

Why not fight fire with fire?

They hatched a plan to use the captured Ducainos to battle against the ones roaming free. Of course, a prison cannot run without a Warden, and that's when The Lady comes in. A woman who is a Ducaino but was granted high power within the prison due to her unique ability. However, the humans still aren't as accepting of the Ducainos, with many preferring to exterminate them before more exist. With the negative opinions of the infected ones, the DGRP became an underground task force - hiding what they do from the public.

You're a Ducaino, a person infected with the Black Star, and just recently awoken from your medically induced coma upon the orders of the Warden, aka The Lady. Your job is to serve the DGRP using your abilities for missions dealing with threats against the human race or facing off against fellow Ducainos who are still in the city. Work alone on solo missions, or work alongside your fellow prisoners on more difficult missions. Obey or rebel - no matter what, the choice is yours.

═════════•♔• :Rules: •♔•═════════

All of Eve's Rules apply obviously
1: Be active. Please don't join up just to leave - I would like this RP to last for a while. I expect posts 1-2 a week, and if you need to take a break or be inactive please inform me beforehand via PM or Discussion. Inactivity will lead to your character being removed from the RP.
2: No OP or Mary Sue, Weeping Willow's, Gary's, or any characters of the like.
3: This is a Semi-Literate to Literate RP. I expect at least 150 + words per post. Put the missing number somewhere in your form, hidden. Also, I required a detailed and well-written appearance and description of your character. This includes proper grammar rules and any form not following these requirements will be declined.
4: No OOC problems. Hate the character but not the player - any instances of unbecoming behavior will not be tolerated, and mods will be contacted if needed.
5: Reservations last for 48 hours and you may only reserve two roles at a time. The reservation doesn't start until you actually post and begin working on the forms. You will be allowed to have 2 - 12 hour extensions if needed to complete a form, otherwise, the spot will be open for someone else.
7: I as the owner of the RP reserve the right to accept and decline forms as I see fit. I will not tolerate rude behavior towards me just because you got declined - if you do get declined, try and work on your form, and maybe it'll get accepted due to the corrections. Put thunderbird in other. I hope to RP with many new faces - so come on, I don't bite.
8: I will make a 4-character limit, however as the RP progresses, I'll allow you to make as many characters as you can handle.
9: I will allow art for your characters since cartoonish human art is allowed - make sure they are properly credited and follow all of the WP regulations or this rule will be redacted.
10: This RP is not a heavy romance RP and there may be some hints of it so I'll get this out the way - no romances between your own character [the exception is if the character has a deceased lover or one that'll die later on.] Also, you are allowed to have your characters be siblings, cousins, etc.
11: Don't be the character constantly disrespecting the superiors and higher-ups - it can be fun but it's also annoying. After all why do
you want your character to constantly get in trouble.
12: Any questions are to be asked via PMs - I don't want this thread clogged up.
13: I understand that backstories are fun and giving characters angst and tragedy makes them spicy, but come on - not every single character needs a sob story, but also please don't anyways make your characters have the best or perfect life. Happy middle-class families are nice to hear about. But also be creative with this.
14: Make sure to read everything!
15: Have fun ;)

═════════•♔• :Three Sectors: •♔•═════════

[credits to azgaar.github.io for this image]

Sector A: Sandrix

Sector A, or Sandrix, is north of Straso City, with their neighbor city Athax below them and Vepolis across the sea East. Surrounding this sector are reinforced walls to keep the Ducainos out while keeping the people in.

Unlike the other two, Sandrix is more stable and considered the safest place due to the many city guards, better security systems, and weaponry able to take down most Ducainos.

There are many places to work, with multiple booming industries that are the pillar of its economy.

The population is the highest in the city due to people moving there when Vepolis fell into the hands of the Ducainos for sanctuary - most who did only ended up homeless.

Sandrix is packed with all forms of entertainment, with the people's daily lives drowned with commercial advertisements, cultural events, celebrity culture, etc.

Sector B: Athax

Sector B, or Athax, is south of Straso City, with their neighbor city Sandrix above them and Vepolis across the sea East. This sector has no walls to keep the Ducainos out, but it's the third most heavily guarded. However, it is known for its Starwalk Harbor.

Unlike the other two, Athax is more so for middle-class citizens, basically the common rabble. This city doesn't have highly-trained guards - it's mainly militias. Rarely do they get weapons from Sandrix to defend themselves.

There are many places to work, with multiple family-owned or small businesses that are the pillar of its economy. One of the major businesses is Starwalk Harbor, which is tasked with transporting goods with the other sectors. It's a high-paying job but dangerous.

The population is the second highest, but it was formerly the largest. Most of the citizens fled to Sandrix to find shelter, yet the vast majority that did found themselves homeless.

Athax is packed with small forms of entertainment - mainly events, festivals, the boardwalk at Starwalk Harbor, etc.

Sector C: Vepolis

Sector C, or Vepolis, is east of the two other sectors and boarded off by Darksummit Fort. This sector has no walls, considering it's been overrun by those infected by the Black Star.

Unlike the other two, Vepolis is the primary home for the Ducainos, who took over the city years ago and made it their home. This city doesn't have a source of security - the infected brought this sector into anarchy.

Are there any places to work at? Well, not exactly. To bring money into your pockets, joining a gang or doing illegal jobs is the best way to go, as most of the businesses were destroyed or controlled by gangs.

The population is the third highest, but the population isn't increasing or decreasing, as the Ducainos keep killing each other off. When one dies, another Ducaino pops up. The majority of the original citizens fled, while an unlucky few remained.

As for entertainment, street races, gambling, territory fights, and other lawbreaking things keep the Ducainos entertained.

═════════•♔• :DGRP: •♔•═════════

The Cells

The cells that Ducainos are all different from each other, as they're specially made to suppress one's abilities. Different materials are constantly being used to combat their abilities so they don't break out. It's an expensive process, but the rich people in Sector A would happily fund it to keep the infected away from their precious city. Even though they're considered prisoners, Ducainos are free to decorate their cells as much as they please, as long as they follow the rules of DGRP. The cells are as big as a studio apartment - minus a kitchen.

The Lounge

The Lounge, also known as the hangout spot, is where the Ducainos can sit back and relax after a mission or during free time. The Lounge has many different seating places for a singular person to multiple, yet it tends to get nosey most days due to the number of people inside. Televisions, gaming systems, bookshelves, board games, and pool tables are found inside to keep everyone entertained. You are free to do whatever you wish, such as reading, playing video games, board games, etc. - do keep in mind that gambling is forbidden.

The Canteen

The Canteen is where the food for staff members and Ducainos is prepped and served. Breakfast is 7 AM, lunch is 12 PM, and dinner is 6 PM. Don't worry. There are many food options for those who are vegan/vegetarian or for religious reasons. Ducainos locked in either their cells or the isolation chambers would be fed, but it depends on the level of disobedience. The tables are made of metal and bolted down to the floors. The reason why they're bolted to those floors is because tables were being thrown at each other when a fight broke out.

The Yard

The Yard is an outside field in the center of the prison facility where there are various outdoor activities such as basketball, tennis, etc. However, if physical hobbies aren't your thing, there's a greenhouse and multiple seating places to kick back and relax. Sometimes, the prisoners can eat outside as long as they behave themselves. Of course, this place has heavy security with cameras facing every angle, guards posted on top of the walls and inside, and The Warden's office overlooks the place. Yard time is normally after Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

The Medical Ward

This is the second most highly populated place, considering that fights between prisoners and guards happen often. Hell, they even fight amongst themselves. The Medical Ward is heavily monitored - so don't think about trying anything. This place is run by the 'Head Doctor', a Ducaino with a healing ability, a 'Co-Doctor', a second Ducaino with healing abilities, and a couple of nurses assisting them. The building has many rooms, granting patients privacy like your usual hospital. This place is open 24/7 and located East of the facility, separated from the main building.

The Laboratory Ward

The Laboratory Ward, or just the Lab, is located inside the main facility, but you have to go through multiple secured corridors to access it. This facility is highly important for the prison, as it holds crucial information about each Ducaino within the facility and possible cures to cure those infected. They also research the infestation, bodily pieces of slain enemies, etc. to improve the condition of the facility. This place also acts as a 'smithery', as they make weapons that correlate well with the Ducainos' abilities. This ward is run by the Head Scientist, a Ducaino who specializes in intelligence.

═════════•♔• :Ducainos Info: •♔•═════════

Abilities

Every Ducaino has an ability unique only to them, making every Ducaino different from each other in terms of strengths and weaknesses. However, there are rare cases where multiple Duacinos have the same power, but their power levels are different from each other. As such, there's a Ranking System in place to categorize them from dangerous to least dangerous. Despite the power differences, every Ducaino is treated with caution, as there's a chance that the infestation inside them can suddenly mutate. The powers aren't just magical, but they can be physical or mental too; for example, enhanced strength and mind control.

Each power has one normal attack, one ultimate, and two passive skills. Example:

Normal Skill: Normal Skills are abilities that can be consistently used and drain a small amount of Ducainos energy or no energy at all. Most Ducainos use them when they're facing against enemies weaker or at the same level as them. Examples of a Normal Skill would be doing something such as shooting flames out of their hands, a temporary healing sigil, or slashing at enemies with their weapons. Sure, it won't be as strong compared to an Ultimate Attack, but helps preserve one's energy.

Ultimate Skill: Ultimate Skills is when a Duciano unleashes a strong amount of energy to increase the power level of their abilities - think of it as powering up. Examples of an Ultimate Skill would be creating a giant fireball to damage multiple enemies, creating a large healing sigil to mend multiple allies, or finishing charging to deal a lethal blow. After an Ultimate Skill has been used, the Ducaino would need to take some time to recover before using it again, so only use it unless it's necessary.

Passive Skills: Passive Skills are abilities that don't require any steps to activate, as they tend to occur on their own, hence why they're called such. They differ from Normal Skills as they're constantly active and modify some attributes of the Ducainos, with every Ducaino having two passive skills. Two examples of a Passive Skill would be resistance increase to certain things or being around a certain object/being/element gives them a boost while in a certain radius of it.

The Ducainos in the DGRP were assigned roles based on their powers, or classes, for another term. For example, Ducainos who specializes in healing/buffs/regeneration/etc. are considered the Supports, those whose abilities grant them shields/steady regen/resistance/etc. are considered Tanks, and those who can create structures/debuffs/spread attacks/etc. are labeled as Controllers.

Classes

Tanks - Defense Specialists: Tanks are hardened melee Ducainos who take damage in exchange for powerful crowd control. They're able to engage enemies in combat, although their purpose isn't to kill opponents, as they're more assigned to disrupt enemies and divert the focus to themselves. This allows them to lock down specific targets, sometimes multiple, and steer threats away from their allies. In short, they lure the enemies away from their weaker teammates.

Supporters - Healing Specialists: Supports are considered "weakest" members when it comes to actual combat, yet they're superior when it involves more defensive abilities. Like Controllers, they're vulnerable when they're alone, hence why they're mostly seen in the more defended placement in the group. On the field, they can use their powers to mend wounds, energize, or buff up their teammates so they can last longer in combat.

Controllers - Intelligent Specialists: Controllers assist allies with potent utilities to keep enemies at bay, also known as crowd control. Their job is to diverge the enemies into smaller numbers to make them easier to deal with. When they're alone, they're weak to oncoming attacks, but in a group, they're capable of amplifying their teammates to increase their power, supplying important utility, or as mentioned before, controlling the crowd to save allies.

Fighters - Infantry Specialists: A diverse group of specialists who are masters at either short-ranged, long-ranged or a mixture of both. They excel in both dealing and surviving damage. They have access to heavy, continuous damage (DPS), and innate defenses. They seek out enemies to take down, with those doing short-range taking out enemies the closest, while those doing long-range taking out distant enemies. To summarize, fighters are the main forces in the group due to their diversity.

Assassins - Flanking Specialists: The more mobile Ducainos who specialize in targeting one opponent. They lack resilience but make up for it when the ability to quickly cover large distances, kill the main targets and retreat in a matter of seconds. Of course, they represent high risk yet high rewards, as they're natural opportunists and prefer to attack when a target is alone/vulnerable rather than engage in direct assault. They pick off enemies one by one, attacking from vulnerable sides.

Mutations

Mutations occur when the infection inside Ducainos reaches a certain spike in power level depending on the situation: exposure, breaking mental barriers, etc. A Mutation occurs when the infection in their bodies reaches a certain point, a sign that the host has a heavy case of infection. Those mutated would find that their powers seem to have improved in some form of way, such as improved distance, extension, heightened, quickened, etc. To Ducainos, having a Mutation is a good thing, no, a wonderful thing as that means they're getting stronger. For those B Rank and below, it could give them a chance to boost up the ranks.

Threat Levels

Threat Levels, also known as the Ranking System, was created to categorize the Ducainos within the facility from dangerous to least dangerous. While the prison uses it for informational purposes and a word of warning, the Ducainos use it as a hierarchy system, with the more dangerous ones being considered Royals while the least dangerous is viewed as Commoners. S-Rank and A-Rank Ducainos have a higher resistance to the infection inside them, hence why their powers are stronger than those of B-Rank and below. Nonetheless, those in the lower ranks could develop improved resistance to said infection and be bumped up the ranks.

Threat Levels:
S - Extreme
A - Severe
B - Major
C - Minor
D - Negligable

The Royals are treated like, you guessed it, royals (no surprise there), and typically form their groups within the facility. These groups are what many view as 'prison gangs', but they're not openly hostile to each other unless provoked or they're extremely bored. The second-in-commands of said groups are chosen depending on the Royal's requirements, be it power level or through trust alone.

Side Effects

The infection from the Black Star doesn't grant them abilities, and it's truly more harmful than good. The DGRP considers the infestation as parasitic, which is true after extensive research. While it seems to be harmless to the host, when in truth, it's nose, as it slowly deteriorates those infected physically, spiritually, and mentally. After thorough studying, some Ducainos developed a strong resistance to the infection, allowing them to reach power levels beyond most others, which explains the existence of S-Rank and A-Rank Ducainos, while B-Rank and below are more prone to quicker corruption. Nonetheless, those in the lower ranks could develop better resistance to said infection, and their speed of corruption would slow down.

Infection Levels:
S - Extreme
A - Severe
B - Major
C - Minor
D - Negligable

The infection level is how bad the infection inside a Ducaino is, a way to measure how close they are to Corruption. S is considered very bad, as they're close to being Corrupted, while A is seem as a Ducaino nearly reaching a highly risky level, and so on. Normally, those with a higher infection level are considered stronger in power, but of course, there's a risk to every reward. The infection normally starts at a low level, with no physical symptoms being shown within the host. However, there are reported cases of a person's infection already reaching a dangerous level despite recently being infected. As time goes on, the infection would get worse, driving the Ducaino to the point of no return, converting them into the Corrupted.

Corruption

Corruption happens when a Ducaino's infection finally takes over their mind, body, and soul. The Ducaino would transform into a Corruptor, be it completely or partially, who is the living embodiment of the Black Star. Once Corrupted, the Ducaino won't have complete control of themselves, actions, etc. as they're now being controlled by the Black Star. It's reported that Great Corruptors (S-Rank and A-Rank) have partial control over themselves, still being able to control their actions, yet they're still prone to hostility. They're the most dangerous ones to face, as they still have their mind and intelligence, unlike Lesser Corruptors (B-Rank and below), who act on straight aggressive impulses.

The hierarchy remains here, with S-Rank Corruptors being the Generals, B-Ranks being the Lieutenants, and so on. They practically have their military system. It's also written that Great Corruptors have the potential to increase the infection rate within Ducainos to convert them. So when facing them, caution is highly needed.

Appearance:

[credits to 無產 @ neka.cc]

Deirore’s face shape is a combination of round yet sharp, a structure that’s considered beautiful. It gives her a mixture of masculine and feminine features, mixing masculine sharpness and feminine softness to create a unique appearance of dominating beauty. Her forehead width is smaller than her cheekbones, while her jaw is narrower than the cheekbones. Deirore’s forehead frontal bones protrude more, which creates a sense of deep-set eyes. Her brow bone has a ridge of bone around the upper edge of the eye sockets - because of the brow ridge, her forehead appears steeper, and the angle between her forehead and nose is sharper at a lateral view. Speaking of eyebrows, they’re narrower and arched, making them appear higher, which assists in making the eyes look bigger. Her nose is smaller with a curved bridge, while the tip is turned upward and has a larger nasolabial angle. Deirore’s cheeks are less fuller, while the cheekbones are lower and less prominent, creating a similar look to the diamond-shaped face. As for her jaw, it’s smaller and forms a V-shape with less definition that appears rounder. Deirore’s lips are thinner and less plump, creating downward-turned lips. The woman has a taller, angular, and square chin and a thicker lower jawbone, while the jawline along each side of her chin is stronger.

The shape of Deirore’s eyes is a thin almond, having smaller eyelids and longer in width than they are round. The eye shape tapers to a point by the tear duct and outer eye. The outer part of the cornea hides under the top and bottom lids, which causes an apparent crease. It gives her a piercing look that sends shivers down the spine, a gaze that makes one’s body tingle with a glance. What made her even more magnetizing was the color of her heterochromia eyes. They have a high transparency and display an intense pigmentation like a perfectly cut gem. When she's under little to no lighting, her eyes are dark color, which makes the pupils hard to see. Her right eye is the same color as a yellow tourmaline, while the right is similar to the zircon gemstone. Her eyes are transparent, allowing light to reflect off them and creating a glassy luster that makes her eyes appear to be literal gems. As such, when light bounces off her eyes, its true colors are revealed. With alluring colors of gold and red that make one's heart stop and soul cringe in fear. Above her eyes are a set of medium soft angled-low arched brows that fit perfectly on her manly face. Deirore’s eyelashes are long, fuller, and darker with a beautiful curve.

Deirore’s height is around 5’11-6’0, but it could be taller depending on the shoes she wears that day. Her tallness intimidates others sometimes, but it’s also an attractive feature. In other words, Deirore’s tallness is intimidating yet sexy to most people. Her body is an inverted triangle, as her hips and waist are smaller than the average woman's. As for her buttocks, they’re less rounder than a woman but more voluminous than a man. From a back perspective, there’s a smooth waist-to-hip transition while her points are full and round. For her chest, her breasts aren’t as big, as it’s more of a C-Cup. From behind, she appears slightly masculine. She is a fit woman with a 10-12% muscle mass, making her toned muscles visible under her skin and able to feel firmness. Deirore has a visible ten-pack with well-formed legs and arms. Her shoulders are broader, taller, and with wide sternums - creating the inverted triangle shape. It means that she has broad shoulders as opposed to narrow hips. Deirore has a warm, beige skin with cool pink undertones. The texture of her skin is smooth, soft, and luminous - said to be velvety. Decorating her body appears to be multiple scars - most covered with tattoos.

Decorating her body are gray-scaled tattoos that cover the entirety of her body from the shoulders down to the legs, but the tattoos stop at her wrists and ankles. Covering her back is a mural tattoo of a black dragon with heterochromia eyes of gold and red and wearing a crown on its head. She has a fusion of tit-tat and sleeve tattoos that connect to make a full canvas of mythical animals from around the world. Deirore also has a full-canvas tattoo on her muscular stomach of Cerberus, with all three of their muzzles having blood around them. Lastly, she has leg sleeves of even more mythical animals in various poses. Yes, Deirore is a sucker for mythical creatures - she finds them to be beautiful yet deadly animals. Initially, before she had the tattoos, her beauty marks and scars were visible before they were covered.

Deirore’s hair texture is thick with a messy, wild appearance. Her hair is long, reaching inches past the shoulders in big, messy waves that settle comfortably at the mid-back. Her bangs partially cover the upper half of her hair, with her two-colored eyes peering through the stands. Once more, she's mistaken to be a guy as her long hangs cover most of her features, giving others a limited look at her face. The fragrance of her is considered musky, like cedarwood or tobacco. When attending formal events, she’ll braid, keeping a few strands free, or tie it up in a messy bun. Her hairstyle is a hybrid of straight and wavy, with the roots being straight while the ends have a slight curl, creating the wavy style. Deirore’s hair color is pure jet black, similar to the darkness in the night sky with no stars or obsidian.

Deirore's voice is husky, with her voice being low and hoarse - often in an attractive way. Her voice is slightly deeper than most women’s, but it’s strangely an alluring quality of hers. Deirore would rarely talk unless she found the conversation or person interesting. Deirore’s voice makes one listen to everything she is saying without trying to be demanding or asking for anyone’s attention. Many would view her voice as pleasant to listen to, a voice that makes one’s heart swell. Something is magnetizing about it despite her voice being pretty hoarse, with many considering it easy on the ears without irritating them too much. There’s no sense of hostility when she communicates. Strangely, there’s nothing in her voice, like she’s empty of emotions. Once she’s put in a bad mood, the tension in her voice is tense and unsettling - like death is whispering in your ear.

Normal Skill
- Tracker sight and smell
Once she has seen a target she has an uncanny ability to track them. Like a bloodhound. The more connected to the individual or more things she handles or gets a auric "scent" of them; the brighter they become in her sights. She sees targets thermal output. Even walls have no chance concealing her target once she has locked in. Her once normal eyes changed the day of the Star. Now an unnerving copper orange. Slit down the pupil like a fox. The light reflecting in them at night.

Ultimate Skill
- Kill Switch

Whether from afar using her trusted sniper bullets Defying physics to find her mark or her own knife up close. Passing between visable and invisible she disappears in flickers the Wraith as she's called. Her ability possessing a feral hunt mode over her causing her to hunt untill the mark is hit.

Her bullet will be sent with a pulse of power making impact harder and will swerve around obstacles to hit the mark. Unless an outside power is protecting her target higher power than her. This uses a decent amount of energy and is used in emergency's.

The wraith mode is for up close. Her body going through various stages of invisibility or camouflage. Her speed and strength heightened in hunt mode. The more she becomes infected the longer her cool down periods after this are. Using this has effects on her mentally and physically. Wip wip wip wip
