Until Winter's End

For the Lamount Valley Herd, winters have never been easy, but they werne't necessarily impossible either. At the beginning of each winter, they would leave their forest home, daring to venture into the snow slick mountains, knowing that hidden within it's wintery abys is an oasis of refuge. This year was supposed to be no different for them. Supposed to be.

Unfortunately it seemed the fates had different plans and decided to roll the dice on whether or not the Lamount Valley Herd would see the end of Winter or not. First came the death of their Lead Stallion. He was an aged beast, but a reliable stallion even in his age. Unfortunately, since he was weakening he wasn't able to fend of the pack of starving wolves who were determined to make a meal out of him. Now, the LV Herd are a bunch of hardy horses, more so than your average wild horse, however, none of them were prepared for what was to come.

Shortly after losing their Lead Stallion the snows fell, and the temperatures dropped. Food that was abundant disappeared in a matter of days, though it felt more like hours. Knowing the herd had to start it's trek to their Valley Home for the winter, the Lead Mare, a sturdy and dependable creature, began to lead them into the mountains. Unfortunately, none of them could have seen it coming when the ground beneath her hooves gave way and she was swept down the mountain. They had hope she would survive, as she had made it through the ordeal alive, but unfortunately her age and injuries were just too much and she succumbed to the Winter a few days after.

The tragedy of the past week struck the herd to the core, shattering what remained of their hope and sapping them of their energy. The idea of surviving through the winter seemed impossible, but the mares just couldn't accept the death sentence they'd be giving their foals if they gave up. So, with the young Deputy Mare now promoted to Lead Mare, the herd must either reach their valley, or find a different way to survive the winter. With the wolves who claimed their Lead Stallion still salivating at their heels, and the promise of Bachelor Stallions looking to take the herd for themselves, it's no doubt that this will be one of the worst winters to come. But hopefully, just hopefully, the Lamount Valley Herd will make it out on top.

The Roleplay Rules
1. Follow all of WP's and Eve's Rules.

2. Be Active. Do not join never to post or finish characters, or to disappear. Be active in Rp and Discussion.

3. This is a Semi-Literate and Semi-Realistic Rp. Please keep these in mind when not only posting but when creating your forms. Decent Puncuation, Grammar, and Spelling is required, as well as a minimum [full] sentence requirement of 5-8 per paragraph.

4. Detailed Description is the Minimum Requirement for Appearance. Free to Use Stock Images are allowed, but the Rules for WP and their Creator's rules must be followed. If you're using Stock it must be from DA for my Sanity's sake.

5. Reservations will only last 72 Hours. If you haven't finished your character by then, the position will be opened back up. You can request an extention by Pming me, but I'll only do it once per form. If you've read everything put Bluebird in your form.

6. You may have up to Four Characters for This Rp.

7. If you have an Orphaned Foal they MUST find a Caretaker in the Rp, otherwise they WILL die. Yearlings will be okay, but foals need a caretaker, and it has to be an adult.

8. Keep in mind, this is one of the Worst Winters in the past Decade. This will be a struggle for the herd, characters will get injured and maybe even die.

9. No Instant Love or Mates, and no Being Mates with your Own Character. Also, like, just don't be "that guy". You know the one.

10. No perfect characters or invincible characters. They will have flaws, and injuries and losses will be had.

11. You can dictate how your horse views mates and relationships. If a Mare wants to share her stallion or not, or if a Stallion just wants one more, or maybe a few or even a large herd. He can also decide he is wants to have a preferred or favored mare if he does have a small band or large herd.

12. If you want there to be a wolf attack, or a mudslide, or some sort of Rp Event, please get permission from me first. We don't want constant wolf attacks, mudslides, missing foals, etc. every five seconds to the point we can't move the Rp along.

13. Have Fun!

The Herd Rules
These were the rules from the former Leads, and are subject to change.
1. Stick together. No wandering off by yourself, always have someone with you. And get permission before wandering away from the herd.
2. No relations with outside Stallions. If any are seen they needed to be reported of immediately.
3. Any foals found to be fathered by an outside stallion are liable to be abandoned by the herd and left behind. Exceptions are if a mare joins the herd already pregnant.
4. What the Leads say, Goes. Going against them is a punishable offense.

The Role Explanations

Lamount Valley Herd Roles

Lead Mare

This is the Mare who lead the Herd Alongside the Lead Stallion. She is a more permanent fixture than the LS is, and makes decisions regarding when and where they'll go to foal, where and when they'll move the herd, etc. Both her and the LS govern over the Herd Mares, but she's got the primary say over them except in terms of foaling and mating. Currently this is a Brand New Lead Mare for the LV Herd. Meaning she isn't exactly cemented in as the Lead Mare. She could easily be over-ruled by the herd, with the deciding that someone else is better to lead. So she will need to prove herself in the coming months. To change a LM, either the Lead Stallion can do it, or the Herd can with a Majority Vote.

Lead Stallion
While there is currently no Lead Stallion for the LV Herd, he would normally lead beside the Lead Mare. He's the primary protector of the herd, with his primary goal to keep them safe, while also getting the right to mate and have foals. He can make decisions in regards to almost anything with the herd, and stands as an equal to the LM, but he does recognize that, usually, she gets the final say about certain things. He can over-rule her, and possible demote her, but she can potentially do the same to him if needed. They balance and kept each other in check. Currently, as mentioned, though, there is no LS in the LV Herd.

Deputy Mare
This mare is basically the Second in Command to the Lead Mare. She tends to either be a close friend or relative to the Lead Mare, and is someone who is greatly trusted by the LM. Typically the Deputy Mare is younger than the Lead Mare, though, obviously, there are special circumstances in regards to that. This mare is there for a few reasons though. The first is to help the Lead Mare, well, lead. She ensures her orders and words are being followed, and that the herd is listening to her. The other reason, like in this instance, is to Lead the Herd in the case that something happens to the Lead Mare. This mare is solely chosen by the Lead Mare for the rank, and can only be demoted or changed by her. Currently, there is none for the Herd as she took over as Lead Mare for the herd after the previous passed on.

Lieutenant
This is the other stallion who is usually in the herd, and is the Second in Command to the Lead Stallion. He is basically the male equivalent of the Deputy Mare for the Lead Stallion. He has a very active role, however, in defending the herd, but also the Lead Stallion. He actually is more of the frontline fighter than the Lead Stallion, except when direct challenges are in place, then he steps back and lets the LS Fight [unless it's a 2v1, then he's fight to make it 2v2]. If something happens to the LS, the Lieutenant would take over. However, in the case of the LV Herd, there was no Lieutenant. If they were to get another LS, though, he could appoint another stallion or two as Lieutenant.

Herd Mares
These are just all the other Mares in the Herd, and they make up the bulk of the herd. They're all mares who are 2 years and above, as even elderly mares are included in this rank. There is like an unspoken rank hierarchy within the mares of the herd, which is determined primarily by age, though attitude or temperment plays a factor. Older mares tend to be at the top, whereas younger mares are neaer to the bottom. The mares though can be pushed to the bottom if they continuously cause issues. So it's a hierarchy that is ever changing, and rarely results in actual fights.

Yearlings
These are all the young horses between the ages of 1 and 2 years old. Once they reach two, they would be considered adults within the herd. Usually, the colts in the herd are chased out after they turn two years old, but before they turn three. Whereas fillies turning two become Herd Mares and join the adults of the herd, though they could potentially leave the herd if they wanted.

Foals
These are all the little babies who are below the age of one.

Non-Herd Roles

Lone Mares
These are all the mares in the roleplay who are not apart of a herd. With the winter being as bad as it is, though, they'll need to be joining on, or join up with a stallion to increase their odds of survival, otherwise they'll likely die. Lone mares might have a foal or yearling with them.

Bachelor Stallions
These are the stallions who do not have a herd of their own. They're either on their own, or in bands known as Bachelor Bands made up of various stallions. Typically the oldest stallion leads the band, with their hierarchy within decided upon age.

Additional Roleplay Information

The Orphan Foal
The Most Recent Foal of the Lead Mare and Lead Stallion is now an Orphan. If they have any hope of survival they will need to find someone to care for them. Since all the foals are 4 to 6 months old, foals are starting to be weaned, but its unlikely they have been yet. If they cannot find someone to care for them, their odds of survival aren't well.

The Siblings
Since the Lead Mare was Older, about 15+, she would have several adult offspring, all fathered by the Lead Stallion. It's liable that the Mares that are their children might be trying to overthrow the current Lead Mare so they can Lead themselves. Whereas, the sons of the Lead Stallion, and possibly the Lead Mare, might come back to try and take over the Herd to Honor their Father.
The current Lead Mare is NOT a Daughter of the former.

The Demoted Deputy Mare
I was planning on the new Lead Mare being rather young, so she wouldn't have been the Deputy Mare very long before that. This means that, before her, there was another Deputy Mare, and for some reason she was demoted and the new mare was chosen to take her place. Which means, had this not happened the old Deputy Mare would actually have had a chance to Lead the Herd, but now that's been taken away.

I Would LOVE for the Son of an Old Rival of the former Lead Stallion to come and try and take over for whatever his motivation is. I love drama like that.

The Former Leads

Former Lead Stallion
Name: Tobias
Age:
12 Years
Color: Dark Bay Tobiano & Blanket Appaloosa
Height: 17.1 hh

Former Lead Mare
Name: Bretta
Age: 16 Yrs
Color: Red Dun
Height: 15.3 hh

For the Foals & Yearlings
Foals are 4 to 6 Months Old Right Now, as It's November in the Rp, and most Foals are Born in May - July, but can be born beforehand. So most are going to be 4+, but all of them are at least 4 Years. This Means Yearlings are going to be about a Year Older than the Foals.

Roleplay Note:
Keep in Mind this is a Winter Survival Rp, the horses are going to struggle. Many will get injured. Some might even die. So don't think this is going to be an easy, happy walk in the park for them.

Rhysand

"Rhys"

Age: 6

Gender: Stallion

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Herd: None

Appearance:

Rhysand holds himself at roughly 16 hands high, not being the largest but also not being the smallest out there. He is fully matured and grown, meaning that he isn't getting any bigger. He has a more filled out frame, not entirely made of muscle but rather extra fat, but you can see some muscle doing its work in his legs and chest, especially when in use. He has a slimmer head shape, his cheekbone being rather defined among the centerline of his face and small veins poking through his skin. Rhysand holds himself with pride, or more or less charm and confidence, appearing a bit more cocky than he truly is. Despite this, he still looks rather approachable.

Rhysand is not the most fascinating stallion to look at, but he is the most eye-catching. This is due because of his pale white color - that's all he is. There are no special patterns or markings. His eyes are a icy blue, making his eyes look a bit 'crazy', if you will, and he has a slight pinkish tint to his nose. His mane is of an average length, being more thin hair, and his tail is rather long. The coloring of his mane is white, but has a more yellow-ish/tan tint to it due to not always being able to stay clean.

Credit: xxMysteryStockxx on DA - Both images

Personality:
Charming || Flirtacious || Witty

Rhysand has this way of being rather kind and approachable while also be charming. He is rather handsome to say the least, thus being popular among most of the herd, and because of this, he has built a reputation of being a lady's man. He's fine with this, and finds it rather fighting, actually, so he doesn't argue with it. Anyhoo, Rhysand's charming personality makes him rather likable and friendly. He's known for always showing respect, perhaps like a teacher's pet, though he just thinks it's common sense to do so. He's easy to approach and is always willing to have a conversation, even if it's with a stranger. However, he doesn't mind company in silence.

Because of his charm, Rhysand has been known to be rather flirty. However, he likes to reason this with it simply being his friendly attitude. That said, he's always making remarks, regardless of your sex. He could care less, honestly. Though he's quite good at flirting, he does not receive the same energy back well. It's different if he knows it's a joke, but this especially to applies to if he has a crush on someone and they give the same energy back. He becomes flustered, though that isn't really surprising considering he would anyway. But regardless, he'll probably overthink it.

Rhysand is very witty with his responses and actions. Whether it be his sarcasm or his instant reaction to thinking of a solution or something, it wouldn't be an understatement to say that he's intelligent. Rhysand has a rather fast thinking process, and sometimes his brain will move faster than his mouth can. But when it comes to his sarcasm, he really tends to have a comment for just about anything and everything. However, he does have a filter, and won't say anything offensive. He's still sensitive to those around him, and doesn't prioritize being funny over his friends.

Reasonable || Soft-spoken || Pacifist

Rhysand is very reasonable. Even though he thinks fast, he thinks deep. Very deep. He doesn't like rushing into things and likes to take a moment to step back and see what a situation has to offer. He prefers to do what is right, and always looks for the good in two evils. But of course, he isn't perfect and will still make mistakes. However, in most cases, Rhys manages to keep a decent mind while trying to make these righteous choices. He doesn't try to please others, but he just likes to do what is best for them. In a way, this makes him rather selfless.

Rhys is rather soft-spoken. He doesn't really have much to say, though he does in fact manage to get his point across. His voice is normally soft, thus making others around him more comfortable and make the environment feel more open when you're around him. This is another thing about him that makes him seem more approachable, which by his standards, works perfectly fine as he enjoys the company but again, doesn't mind the silence.

Rhysand is in fact a pacifist. He likes to avoid violence at all costs, even if it's just a verbal argument. Instead, he likes to have civilized conversations and discussions about an issue rather than trying to solve them with some sort of bloodshed. To him, it's simply immature. He'd much rather solve problems than let them become a bigger thing, so he will confront you about things and call you out. Sometimes when he does this, it makes the situation worse, but he also thinks that he should tell others what they need to hear, not what they want.

Gullible || Forigiving

To most's surprise, you will find that Rhysand is very vulnerable and gullible. While he likes expressing himself, he also becomes rather emotional and that can be used to any manipulator's advantage. He easily falls for lies and believes them, thus getting him hurt once he finds out the truth. He does hate lying after all, and will forever have this sort of guilt for so easily falling for lies. He buys lies like they're cheap valuables. It's forever something he will struggle with.

The final thing about this stallion is how forgiving he is. He quite literally has no bad bone in his body, making it difficult for him to purposefully go out of his way to do something cruel. However, he's like a doormat - he lets just about anyone walk all over him. No matter how many times you have screwed him over, he will still let you back in. It's a matter of if you leave on your own, because even if you know that you have screwed up and he has sorta made it known, he still allows these sort of others back into his life. Why? He wish he could explain it, but he simply can't.

Strengths:
+Reasonable - Useful when in hard situations.
+Charm - Although it brings it attraction, it also helps him persuade others.
+Sociable - He's just a social being. This helps with getting to know others.
+Intelligent - Honestly, how could you go wrong with being intelligent?

Weaknesses:
-Gullible - He's easily manipulated.
-Physical Strength - Definitely not a contendor when it comes to sparring or challenging a stallion.
-Forgiving - He's sympathetic - forgiving is the least he could do, but it normally gets him hurt in the long run.
-Flirty - He normally flirts with the wrong horses.

Affiliations:
TBD
[Includes crush, mate, offspring, etc]

Other:
This looks awesome and I'm excited to be using Rhys :D
