Name:
Anubis.
Only her friends and crew are allowed to call her "Viper."
Age:
32 almost 33 years.
Gender:
Female.
Species:
Dinofolk- specifically of the dromaeosaur type.
Sexuality:
Straight.
Rank:
Boatswain.
Reputation:
Aboard the White Tide- Viewed as a calm, quiet, and very reserved member of the crew. Her aggression towards others who aren't trusted by her can be irritating to some, but most know that it's her habits (that she still has yet to break, even after 16 years).
Outside- Incredibly aggressive. Almost anyone that sees her tries to avoid her, since they don't want to get clawed, or bitten for no reason.
Motivation:
Like many of the crew, she has a curse of her own. But instead, one that binds her to a master. She doesn't know who did it, or why they did, but she hates being chained to someone. And she also dreads what that witch would do or make her do if they got their filthy hands on her. She also hates the constant feeling of being leashed to someone, or having someone leashed to her.
Appearance:
(C) Matunda, aka Me on WP. This is art of my OC, so please don't steal it! I'm really happy with how it came out.
By no means is Anubis a large dinofolk. She's built lithe, and lean, not for brute force, but rather swift maneuvering. Her face is smooth, sleek, and elegant, even with angriest snarl. Her jaws are strong, with sharp, serrated teeth following almost perfectly in the middle of her gums. A few crooked teeth can be seen, and often, but most are straight. Her neck is long, and also sleek, with smoothened edges that would often be sharp in other dromaeosaurs. Her shoulders are small, yet also quite tough. Her arms are built for gripping, with her fingers able to lock onto things like an eagle's talons. And yes, she can bend her wrists. Her legs are durable, and capable of making her run fast. When sprinting at full speed, she reaches approximately 10 miles per hour. Her tail has never served a purpose other than making her not look odd. Without it, she'd look very weird.
Standing at the height of 5'9 from her head to her paws and weighing about 90 pounds, some other species can consider her large, but to other dinofolk, she's quite small (even for a female). Most are over six feet. Her tail is approximately two feet long, most of it either dragging behind her, or curled up like a scorpion. Either way, it tends to get in her way somehow (don't ask her how many times she's tripped over it).
Anubis has very little scars for a dinofolk. Her most noticeable scar is a medium-sized blade slash across her right thigh. It's hidden more than half the time by her cloak. All other scars are small and unnoticeable, and on places like the bottom of her paws and the palms of her hands, where there are no scales to protect.
Anubis' scales have proven to be reliable protection from wounds. Though serving as great armor, they still manage to feel like smooth, professionally polished pearls. Anything that touches them practically glides over their surface. Most of her scales are a deep gray hue, with the only scales being different colors are the ones on her top jaw around her lips, which are bright white, and the six large diamond-shaped scales on her neck, which are colored the same gold/amber as her eyes.
Anubis' feathers are similar to an eagle's, with them being contour feathers with the shape of flight feathers. While serving no true purpose, they give her an elegant appearance. They are only located along the back of her neck, following the same path her spine does. The feathers start off growing larger the further they go down her neck, until they reach about two-thirds across her neck, and begin to shorten until they disappear. And these middle feathers can grow long. Some can reach up to three feet in length. They are surprisingly rough to touch, with a coarse, sharp feel to them. The tips of each feather are actually very sharp, and able to give you a scratch similar to a papercut. It's as if they're there to serve as protection to prevent from being lept on from behind. Obviously not very good protection. They are the same color as her scales, but the quills are midnight black. It's nearly impossible to notice the quills though, as they are buried in the pile of feathers on her neck
Anubis' eyes are colored amber. Being very glowy, bright, and beautiful, they add to her elegant appearance, and fit with her scales and feathers very nicely. It also makes her name fit quite well, since she has the colors Anubis is often shown with. Her pupils, like a cat, will change shape more than usual. Depending on lighting and emotion only though.
Anubis constantly wears a black cloak made of wool.
Personality:
Anubis is a raptor with quite an observant mind. With a calculating thought process and her eyes constantly watching, she can prove to be quite a great ally, or an irritating foe. She has a natural talent of analyzing and determining in a matter of minutes, sometimes even seconds. Though with her observance, she often can determine others wrongly though, especially those she's never spoken to. She has a bad habit of judging books by their covers. She strives to change that, but it's a habit that's been drilled into her, by higher ranks, siblings, and even the one who raised her.
With habits, Anubis has been taught to always stay vigilant. While that may be good, she took that a little.. too seriously. It caused her to become a very aggressive person, and find almost anyone suspicious in some way. Exceptions only for those she's known long enough to deem trustworthy, but it takes her a long time to warm up to others, which makes it even more difficult for her to befriend others, or make others trust her. Her aggression can be good in some situations though. It makes her act fearless in battle, and also makes others against her fear her must more effectively.
When Anubis trusts someone, her loyalty is admirable. She rarely snaps at them, or hisses, like she does towards others. She cares deeply for all her friends, and is even quite selfless. She's great to go to when in need of support. She can be quite honest, even bluntly, so maybe keep her set as the last resort option. She rarely lies to her friends, but don't take that the wrong way. Honesty is her way of showing that she cares, even if it comes off kind of brutal.
Likes:
+ Telling her story to the crew, even though they've already heard it so many times.
+ Her crew. Her family.
+ Rabbit meat.
+ Nighttime.
+ Rain.
Dislikes:
- Being called "Anubi" by her siblings.
Strengths:
+ Dedicated loyalty to all her friends.
+ Cunning intelligence.
+ Serrated claws and teeth. They act as built-in weapons to make up for her inability to use many weapons.
Weaknesses:
- Aggression towards almost everyone.
- She's very thin, and skinny compared to normal dinofolk dromaeosaurs.
- Inability to wield normal weapons. Can only use her claws and teeth, and a pistol, but she's dangerously clumsy with it.
- Accuracy with a pistol.
Background:
The dawn of the full moon. Eggshells cracked and snapped, a high-pitched squeal erupting from it as a small snout poked out. Six small, hatchling dinofolk. Completely unaware of the chaos their path was leading them. The first hatcling- came out a white-scaled dromaeosaur with a beak- Osiris. The second hatchling was a deep blue scaled dromaeosaur female- Isis. The third hatchling, Horus, was a male with bloody red scales. They gave him a constant appearance of someone who just finished with a battle. The fourth hatchling was Anubis. The younger sisters were Seth and Bastet, who both came out of the same egg. They both came out identical lime-green feathered raptors. It was impossible to tell the two apart, so they had to get bracelets with their names on them until they were older.
Anubis was born amongst a civilization made up of mainly humans. Everyone was a human except for her, her siblings, and the witch she once called her mom, who was a creature of some kind. From what Viper was told, that witch saved her and her siblings when they were still inside the eggs. The place was a very eerie, cryptic place. Like a plagued land. With withering grass covered in purple ooze and dead trees everywhere. The water was a bubbling green color, and burnt to touch. It needed special purification and several treatment processes to actually be safe to drink. And also, everyone had a terrible attitude. She's even gotten into a few fights with some younger humans before. This started Anubis' aggression and cautious tendencies around strangers.
When Anubis reached the age of fifteen, she and her siblings began to train. Train for what? It's still mystifying to this day. It was really awkward for Viper and her siblings to be training with young humans and no other dinofolk, but many had accepted her pack as members of their dawning kingdom. She hadn't understood at the time that all that training was to enfuse a sense of loyalty towards the kingdom in her and her siblings. She'd been having suspicions, but all of them were denied by her siblings. It's the main suspicion she was saddened to be right about. This gave her her reserved, quiet demeanor, as she felt at the time that no one really cared about her concerns, and the training enhanced her aggression towards others. (No wonder why everyone had a bad attitude!)
Her first battle was at the age of sixteen. Anubis and her pack against an equal group of humans. A battle for a higher ranking group. They quickly pounced on Isis though, their weakest sibling. She tried everything she could, but she couldn't save her. It shattered the siblings, making their normally close friendship with each other slowly begin to drift. In a fit of rage, Anubis and Osiris charged headfirst into the group of humans, earning them a lot of wounds, but they managed to kill one of the humans in revenge. However, the fight ended before they could do more damage, making Isis' death entirely in vain. It stung even more that the match was considered a tie.
Then less than a few months later, a rival kingdom took notice to the new kingdom, and weren't too pleased at the discovery. They attacked the next day. A bomb managed to throw Seth into a building, shattering his spine on impact, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Osiris, Bastet, and Anubis quickly jumped to save him, while Horus was out killing every rival he saw in rage. However while trying to save Seth, Osiris was killed. Osiris was Anubis' closest friend, and their oldest sibling. It was devastating. Next, Bastet lept out into the battlefield, unaware of a rival with a sword nearby. Anubis managed to grip her sister's tail and pull her back before she was harmed. Then, they picked up Seth and ran towards the boats, not willing to loose anyone else in the battle. Allies saw their retreat, and began to retreat towards the boats as well. Horus was too busy killing to notice his siblings retreating, so he had to follow the crowd of allies.
Anubis, Seth, and Bastet managed to get on a boat right before they left, retreating the island. But the enemies had a boat their own, and began to chase them. Unfortunately, the boat Anubis, Seth, and Bastet were on was hit by a cannonball, and quickly began to sink. Viper won't forget Horus' cries of grief from a boat in front of them, as he watched helplessly as they sank. She could tell he was begging others to turn back and get them, but the rest of the kingdom clearly denied as they continued their escape. Bastet had a mournful expression on her face as she gripped Seth and Anubis in a tight hug.
The last thing Anubis can remember is thrusting Seth and Bastet onto a large, floating board before sinking into the water in exhaustion. She woke up on a different island. Her siblings were alive, but Seth was permanently paralyzed. They told her some crew found them, and saved them before they drowned.

Anubis has been in the crew for approximately 8 years now, joining after Seth and Bastet fully recovered from the trauma of the incident. She joined 8 years after the attack that day. Seth and Bastet are still alive and well, but they still have yet to find Horus if he's even alive. (He is. She just doesn't know it! He probably won't show up in this RP though, unless the right time comes for it)
