Summershade wandered out of the trees and into the sunshine. She spotted a butterfly and aimlessly pounced at it. As it flitted away just above the grass, she shivered about the news she had heard from her older packmates. The other packs had vanished without a trace - except for hers . . . and their enemy pack, Siege Pack. Where have they gone? Are they all dead? or - something worse? Summershade trembled at the thought. A loud bird call interrupted her thoughts, and she jerked her head up. Still frightened, she scampered back to the dens. Will we disappear too?
