Lautaro finds the racehorses odd, but he's also intrigued by them. He has no hatred towards these lost horses; however, he is cautious with the other stallions seeking shelter. With the new arrivals, he has grown extra protective of the mares and their foals and ensures that the strangers keep their distance from them.

Backstory:

Before arriving at the Mountain Valley Herd, Lautaro was the colt of a lead mare named Astra and a bachelor named Aloysius. Her mate Nile, the lead stallion, wasn't pleased with this reunion. He exiled Astra from the herd, letting the mare fend for herself while carrying a foal. As the months went by, the mare came across another group. They willingly took her in and protected the pregnant mare. After a few more months, Lautaro was born and was greeted with warmth by his adoptive herd. His mother was unsure what to name her newborn foal and waited for a sign. Since he was a colt, the lead horses agreed for him to stay until he reached adulthood. The lead stallion, Soren, guided him every step of the way, and the two formed a father-son bond.

When he reached 3-years, Soren allowed Lautaro to remain in the herd, and their bond grew further. One day, as Lautaro was patrolling the perimeter, he accidentally stumbled across a hawk feasting on a rabbit. He was distracted by the bird of prey with silent admiration. Until it let out a warning screech, observing the direction where the herd was. He realized the sense of panic, and the young stallion hurried off back home. He arrived just in time, as a mountain lion was stalking in the direction of two unknowing foals. Lautaro rushed in and fought against the mountain lion, quick to chase it off and away from the herd. With this achievement, Soren offered him the name of Lautaro, and everyone was joyful with his new name. The only one not pleased with this was Soren's son, Aries, who was the same age as Lautaro.

More months rolled by, and the tension between Aries and Lautaro was getting heavy. Soren fell sick, then four days later, he passed away from what others deemed old age. With the death of their lead, Aries elected himself as the new lead stallion and chased Lautaro out of the herd. The young stallion wandered the wilderness aimlessly, searching for a place to call home. He fended off countless predators and aggressive stallions, having scars on his body as evidence. One lucky day, he encountered the Mountain Valley Herd and joined them after showing he was trustworthy.
