Caroti

"I might be old, but that doesn't mean I can be bossed around."

Caroti looks like your average mare but perhaps taller than the average, standing at around 16.5 hh. Although worn with age, she has a well-proportioned built, with slim legs ending in lighter hooves. Together, they carry a long, fairly muscular body, her hind being slightly smaller-looking than her front. She has a long neck that leads to a small head with big nostrills and ears.

Throughout the years, Caroti has proudly been able to show off a shiny seal brown coat, with lighter spots covering the sides of her face, along with just above her nose, under the belly and behind her front legs. Down her legs, the turns darker, while her regular mane and longer tail are darker in color, almost black. Her eyes are almost withing the same darker brown scale.

Being an experienced mare, who was once the lead of the herd, Caroti looks the part. Scars in different sizes kan be seen all over her body from differents threats such as from predators or even fights against other mares. These were mostly visible during the warmer months, when her winter coat didn't cover them up. She also has an old limp in her right hind leg, from an old bachelor band encounter, that's almost invisible unless one looks for long enough. This affect the movement of her faster gaits the most, making each stride shorter than what they used to be.

Being one of, if not the oldest member of The Canyon Creek herd, Caroti is highly respected amongst her fellow herd members. This has also been due to her former title of Lead Mare of the herd. At the very least, she has hoped to have earned that title. After having lived through many of life's hardships, she has come to value wisdom over brute strength and young endurance, and she's always willing to share said wisdom to those who ask.

The fact that she is wise has also made Caroti more observant when it comes to her surroundings. She notices the little things, the small changes happening around her. This trait has also surfaced from an old fear of being left in the dark. Now, it doesn't bother her as much. She's also become very reflective, especially of her past, which was a much simpler time, back when she would lead beside her lead stallion.

It's no secret that Caroti still feels a certain protectiveness over her herd, and especially her kin, who are the only ties back to her old mate that she has left. The instinct to lead and protect is still there, but Caroti knows that the role has now fallen to her grandson. She's also far too old to even consider taking a role like that ever again.

Other that being rather protective, Caroti has always kept a brave and strong exterior. She's still just as ready to chase away predators and buck against bachelors getting too close, as she was as a mere 5-year-old.

You could over-all say, that Caroti is experienced.

Motherhood is what has made Caroti a kind mare, who's always had a sense of calm over her. Especially when aorund foals, she is extra careful and sensitive.

One thing for certain is that Caroti is a loyal individual. She was born in The Canyon Creek Herd and intends to one day leave it behind, knowing that every second of her life was spend supporting and protecting it.

Other:

I was thinking that Caroti's subplot would be rooted in her old age, making her tire easier and become more prone to injury, despite being a strong and experienced mare. This could add drama to either their journey, a potential predator encounter or running into to an aggressive lone stallion or bachelor band.

I was also thinking that Caroti could work as a dedicated advice-giving elder to her herd, somehow.

Also, lol, it took me like 5 hours figuring out what kind of character I wanted to play.
