The wires also often came/slid fully out of the last couple braces quite often and I would get holes in my cheeks from that :/

I'm sure braces have improved greatly since I had them though

thats kinda funny. I had rubberbands with my braces and they were so thick

It was just a small invisalign rubber band. I had been playing with it from time to time. It stayed in place, but I noticed there was one line instead of two.

@Upstep.. oof. Back when I was in middle school and had braces I used to have my dental rubber bands on the braces break a lot
