"Yeah. But most wolves cant visit me because of it.' I sit down in the mddle of the moonlit clearing. "Are you going to go back to the school to sleep or....?" I didnt finish my sentence, only looked at Lyka

"I usually try to stay there at night, so I think I'll just go hunting. I need some food." I scent the air. My ears prick as I hear rustles in the bushes. I wonder what it is?

"Be careful." I warn her. "The trees draw you in a night. Some never come out. Thats why I dug my den so deep. Its because they hunt for you. The shadows."

"What?" I ask. I'm confused. I hate the woods at night. I just wanted to see if I can catch some prey. I can eat it tomorrow if it snows or something.

"The shadows. At night. They close in on you, hide you from the outside world." I pin my ears back. "S-sorry if I scared you... Ive warned others before, and they didnt listen. They..." I look away. "they died..."

I stood up, walked over to a bare patch of dirt, and started digging. When I hit something hard, I shifted to a human to lift it out. A chest. I pulled a small key out of my pocket and unlocked it. I pulled out a golden necklace with an amethist hanging from it. I walked over to Lyka, knelt down, and put the necklace around her. "It was my mothers. She said i t would protect me. I-I dont want to loose someone like I did my family again..." Edited at April 1, 2024 08:33 AM by Broken Night of Fire

I shiver. Being in the woods at night... my wolf ears flatten. "I won't go into the woods at night." I promise him. "But then... can I stay with you?" I hold the necklace, gently, feeling the gold in my hands.
