Addilyn hopped into the car, avoiding pressure on her ankle as the pain medication wore off. "Yea it was fine, I tested out new arrow prototypes mostly so it was good I guess." Addilyn didn't know why she was telling a criminal stranger these things. It was stupid and any one of her friends or Thomas would tell her this was dumb. Telling Jason these things. But Addilyn had never been very smart anyways. Well that's what she thoughts at least.
This Jason was the old one too. He had changed just as much as Addilyn had.

"As long as you didn't test them on people," he said, his tone serious. He had a gun in the car. It was at on the floor of he passenger side, and out of reach from him. He didn't like to use it unless necessary. "It's cool. That they trust you like that. I guess that's normal though. For people to trust each other, and all."
Jason liked the idea that she trusted him a smidge. But again, Thomas. Who was he? Who IS he? He isn't considered to be in the friend category... Oh.

Addilyn shook her head lightly, her green eyes as bright as ever in the setting sun's light. "The only person who actually trusts me in that place is Mr. Malik and Carson. The rest think I'm to unpredictable to be there, so they don't trust me." Addilyn pointed this out with ease. She knew when people disliked her, and she didn't care. As long as they didn't mess with any of her friends she didn't care. And even if she did, she had long ago blocked her own sadness or despair with a wall. So if she ever did get sad other wouldn't know.
Pfft, at that camp no one had trusted her. Nobody.

I would know, Jason wanted to say, I would know you were sad. And I would try to help. I would be there, Addilyn. I love you.
"Well that sucks."

Addilyn laughed lightly, her green eyes closing for a moment. "Sorry, no one ever says that. It's just different. I shouldn't have laughed. But yea, it sucks, but you get used to it." She shrugged, other people in her life filled up the gaps that other people left in her. Except her broken family part. Of course, once upon a time. Her mother had taken Addi to Mexico often to visit her cousins and aunts and uncles. A woman's face appeared in her mind, her mother before she had gone mad. Black curly hair and large brown eyes. Lightly tanned skin and a happy round face. Full lips and a very female figure, hourglass. The only similarity between Addilyn and her mother was their pitch black hair. Otherwise, they hardly looked similar even more so now, with her mother barely being able to eat because she forgot to. Addilyn pushes those thoughts aside and focused at what was going on right now.
Addilyn didn't think it was funny anymore. It really had been a horrible experience and despite what she said, Addi had wished the others would've accepted her. Well, old Addilyn did, now Addi really didn't care.

"I know, I know, 'Life isn't fair,' well, life isn't fair my butt. If something sucks, I'll say it sucks. And you shouldn't need to be used to it." His mind laughter in his face. Drunken father who leaves for months, friends who would stab you in the back at a moments notice. Yeah. Life isn't fair.
Jason's heart reached out to Addi. He never knew it was that bad. He never met Addis Mom, he just knew she tried to keep them apart.

As they pulled up to Addilyn's apartment building, she smirked lightly. "I needed someone to say that to me," she murmured under her breath as the car stopped. "Thanks Jason, I appreciate your help. And uh, if you need help with something or whatever. I'm kinda in debt to you so if you need me well you know where I live." She gave him a weak smile, dreading what she would find in her apartment when she opened the door.

Jason mistook that dread as worry about being in debt. He quickly reassured her, "No debt. I can be nice for no reason! I'm not a... um.. what do some people call me? 'A weird delinquent hooligans who made poor life choices and will rot in prison,' " Jason raised his eyebrows.

Addilyn smirked lightly at that, what a weird way to describe oneself. "Oh okay, thanks then. And I'm pretty sure you're not going to rot in prison. Plenty of people make bad decisions, they just learn to leave them in the past and rewrite their future." She shrugged and sighed, she had to get out of this car to take care of her mother soon enough. "I should go, I have homework to do. Thanks for the ride and waiting and all that's stuff. See you around I guess?" It wasn't much of a question because Addilyn knew she would see Jason tomorrow as she walked for school. The real question was, would they ever speak again? Probably not.
Aww, even then Jason reassured Addilyn that he wouldn't bug her about anything. It was kind of him to do so. Otherwise Addilyn would probably have never been able to trust Jason.

"Yeah, see you around." And they would. Simply because Jason would be making sure she was okay, and not jumped like she was that night. Or perhaps he could talk to the people here, maybe give them a solid pounding. No one needed to know. Jason made sure Addi got inside safely, then drove off to his trailer. It never was, and never will be, home in his mind.
With a perked interest, Jason watched through Addis eyes. He was worried about what her mother must be like, for she had never let him meet her.
