Laika gets to her paws as well, eager to get back to her pups. Dipping her head at Ferox's words, she had nothing else to add. She would head back to her pack and inform them of what they would be doing. Now, whether or not they would listen or not was a whole different thing. Silver and Ari simply exchange a glance, they had no more to say either. The plan had been laid out, now all that was left to do was carry it out and then wait for the attack. Laika shivers slightly, it bugged her that such a safe place seemed so dangerous now. She had no idea what was safe anymore, and what if that scream happened again? That had been a terrible noise.

The Alphas dispersed to organize their packs, and Ferox returned to the group of Terra Lupi wolves. "Slate, organize a team to begin constructing walls," he ordered. "I will organize one as well." Slate just stared dourly at him, and Ferox gave him a little snarl, which didn't have much of an effect. He looked out over the rest of his pack and saw similar expressions on the faces of his wolves. Ferox stared hard at them for a moment, then said, teeth bared slightly, "I'm not asking you to do this for me, I'm telling you to do it for the pack. If we do not have proper defenses set up, how will we protect the elders, mothers, and pups? If the enemy gets can get past us, no one will be safe. Are you so stubborn that you would allow their blood to be shed?"

That stirred them. The Terra Lupi wolves saw his point and began preparing themselves. Ferox growled softly, knowing that his hold on them was tenuous at best, and the moment this was over, they would turn on him. That was fine, as long as they made it through this crisis. Slate put together a team, as did Ferox, although the ones he chose seemed much less willing. He lost patience with them, dragging their paws and resisting his commands, and he singled out the worst one, which of course was Ferrum. He looked up up and down, then snarled furiously and threw himself at the larger wolf, snapping at him. His attack was a surprise, and Ferrum was knocked over and pinned. Ferox dug his claws into Ferrum's skin and snarled in his ear, "You will obey me, understood? I do not care how much you hate me, I am still your Alpha and as such I expect my orders to be heeded." Ferrum snarled, "You're a traitor to your pack, lawbreaker! I will not follow a traitor's orders!"

The other wolves stood and watched, wondering how this would end. Ferox put his face down near Ferrum's and spoke, his voice dangerously soft. "I am still your Alpha," he repeated. "By disobeying me, you are betraying your pack, which is a good enough reason for you to be exiled or killed." Ferrum faltered, and Ferox went on. "If I think for even a moment that you are going to disregard one of my commands, you will die, just like Steel did." Now Ferrum looked afraid; Steel had been one of the strongest fighters in the pack, and Ferox had defeated him. Ferox growled quietly and asked, "Do we understand one another?" Ferrum reluctantly nodded, looking bitter and spiteful as Ferox let him back up. However, he did not attempt to resist again. The next five hours were spent pulling rock up from beneath the earth, creating solid walls of stone. They encircled the entire camp, then went further out and built another one, creating two layers of defense.

Once that was complete, Ferox and the Terra Lupi wolves were exhausted. They returned to the central area where the others were and collapsed, all panting heavily. Guarding was up to the Ignis and Akvo Lupi wolves now.

Laika returns to her pack, who lifts their head at her arrival. "Gather around." A few got up, but most remained laying down. Laika's voice hardens slightly,"Gather around." A few more sort of moved and at that point, Laika's paws start sparking. "Get off your lazy butts and gather around. Unless you'd like to sleep outside of the wall tonight." That moved the rest of them, and soon the pack was gathered around. Except for Ember, who was still curled around the pups who were still fast asleep. Laika's gaze lingers on her pups a little longer before flickering back.

"The packs have their duties. The Terra Lupi will raise the walls. The Akvo Lupi and Ignis Lupi will stand guard. If we are attacked. Our fires will be the first defense. We will use our fires to distract the enemy. While the Terra Lupi will stir up dust to help blind the enemy so that the Caeli Lupi can get behind the enemy and attack. While the Akvo Lupi will help keep our fires in control."

Murmurs roll through the pack, even if they were angry at their Alpha, they couldn't deny it wasn't a bad idea. Laika continues,"We will go in groups of ten. Ten wolves at a time will guard the wall. I'm not sure how many the Akvo Lupi will send, but the Ignis Lupi will go in groups of ten. Will anyone volunteer for the first shift?" Her eyes sweep her pack, but none step forward. She sighs slightly,"Alright. Ignatius, Helios, Cinder, Comet, Bane, Aragorn, Lilith, Titan, Myth, and Amargor. You guys are up first." Those ten did not protest, but glances were exchanged. "If there are no questions, you guys are dismissed. Those ten I named, go head for the wall."

The pack quietly disperses, the ten headed for where the wall was to be built. Ready to stand guard. While the rest return to their circle. Laika moving to her pups, laying down beside them as Ember manages to get up. Laika quietly thanks Ember, who nods and heads off. Laika sniffs her pups before lifting her head again to observe. The wall was done, and her wolves had disappeared to guard it. While the Akvo Lupi were headed that way. It looked like Silver and Ari had sent about ten wolves as well. She just hoped it was enough to protect this make-shift camp.

(Sorry this took so long. Been sick and lack of energy to do anything, lol)

Ferox didn't know how long he had been asleep, or even when he had drifted off. He still felt incredibly fatigued and a little bit sore, as though he had been doing strenuous physical labor for the last several hours. In a sense he had been. He gave a light groan and struggled to his paws. The other wolves that had helped build the wall were in various stages of exhaustion as well, some laying on the ground, unconscious, and others looking as though they were only just managing to keep awake.

Looking toward the walls, Ferox noted that Ignis Lupi and Akvo Lupi wolves were all standing guard, watching for threats. He hoped those defenses would be enough... Ferox noticed that elsewhere in the camp, Laika was laying down with their pups, and he slowly began moving in that direction. He didn't care what the other packs thought now, he was going to meet his new family.

As he approached his mate, he slowed down a short distance away and sat, knowing that she would likely be extremely protective of her newly born pups and probably wouldn't let him get too close. "Laika?" he asked softly. "How are the pups doing?"

Laika watched her wolves for a while, keeping an eye on them, to make sure none of them caused any issues. She was sure they were all too shocked to do so, but it was better safe then sorry. Some of them seemed to be okay with her still as Alpha. But many were still blatantly ignoring her. Perhaps obeying her orders, yes, but not acknowledging her besides that. It was annoying, but it would have to do for now. There was no time for fights, especially within packs. She would just have to trust that they would continue to listen to her, especially when it came down to life or death.

The wolves that Laika had chosen were pacing the walls. Some were on top, and others were on the outside, patrolling the outside. She also noted the Akvo Lupi doing the same thing. She just prayed that they would be able to spot any dangers in time for the packs to not be caught off guard. As the pups whine slightly, Laika shifts to curl closer to them, still distracted by her thoughts. Eyes focused on the wall. Ears pricking back up as her pups settle back down.

Suddenly growls arose from the wolves around her, and she whips her head toward her pack. Then she spotted the issue, Ferox. Her pack was not happy with him approaching. Laika orders,"Quiet down." Another round of growls rise, but they quickly quiet, and no one rose to challenge Ferox as he approached Laika. The Alpha turns her attention to Ferox as he approaches. Though her motherly instinct kicked in as he got closer, her fur bristling slightly.

Though as he sat down, the fur starts to lay flat, and her voice remains calm. "They are doing well, I suppose. But they are unaware of all the troubles we face." She looks down at the pups briefly,"They are just sleeping."

I kept a wary eye on the other Ignis Lupi wolves nearby, their hostility made perfectly clear by the angry growling sounding out as he approached. He did not waver though; he was going to see his pups, and no one was going to stop him. Laika quieted the growling, and Ferox relaxed just a little, listening quietly as his mate spoke. Glancing down at the pups, he gave a soft sigh. "I wish they could have had a more peaceful beginning," he said quietly.

I watched the tiny wolves for a moment longer, then looked back up at Laika. "They're all beautiful," he said softly. "Have you chosen names for them yet?"

Laika blinks at Ferox warmly,"As do I. Though I highly doubt they will remember." She lowers her nose to sniff each one, before looking back at Ferox. "No, I have not come up with any names." It had been a little too crazy for Laika too even settle down to think about names. She had no ideas at the moment anyway. "I was actually wanting to know if you had any ideas for names." She murmurs.

Laika agrees, at least their pups wouldn't remember this. But, they definitely could be in a safer situation... Laika follows his gaze to a brown and gray furred pup, streaked with red. Igneous? She liked it. She dips her head,"I like it." Her gaze moves to the other male, who looked like Igneous, just without the red streaks,"What about Tlaloc for this one?" Tlaloc, an earth based name that she had overheard at one of the Great Pack Gatherings before she had become Alpha. When she was still a normal wolf, and everything had been normal and perfect.
