"Sure, Firestarter. Just don't burn the castle down, it's kinda important." Kage grinned. He was very curious about what she could do, and would love to see it. He offered her a hand, "I think it's best we did it outside. Too many flamable items in here." Kage had stopped evesdropping and pulled everything back towards himself so that he wasn't using any magic at the moment. He let his thoughts wander, So she can breathe fire huh.. Interesting. Maybe she has pyroportation? That ones feels a bit far fetched but you never know, she already admitted to basically being a dragon.

Ruina playfully fires back. "It offends me that you think I would do such a thing." She takes his hand, rising to her feet. She doesn't protest. It was easier to do it outside. More range, and definitely less flammable items. Ruina moves towards the door, opening one of them before stepping outside. Waiting in the hallway was Einarr, while Tarron was nowhere in sight.
"Tarron?" Ruina muses. "Gone to wake Thaola. I believe they are about done with breakfast. Would you like me to go fetch them?" Ruina shakes her head,"No, but I'd like you and the other guards to go join them." Einarr's eyebrows raise,"Your Highness?" Ruina sighs,"Have any of you eaten?" The guard shifts slightly,"Erm, no, we haven't." Ruina gestures,"Then go." Einarr opens his mouth as if to argue, but decides against it. "Yes, Your Highness." Before he turns and starts off down the hallway.
Ruina turns towards Kage. "Do you have a large area? Where I am least likely to start a fire? I'm not sure Einarr wants to come running back to put out a fire." Another reason Einarr had been assigned her personal guard. He was an aerokentic user, to put out any fires the princess may accidentally start.

"Well, sort of." Kage had stayed behind her while she spoke to Einarr, only coming to stand beside her once he was gone. "I used to train in a decently large area, it doesn't have much that can burn there. There's a pretty big circle of plain old dirt, not even any grass, so that could work. I don't think you'll be heating it up enough to burn dirt? I don't know how strong your flames are though." Kage lead her down the hallways of the castle and eventually out the grand doors. The castle had many paths leading to various places on the property. He walked beside her, slightly ahead to guide her. The paths were made visible because of stones down the sides of each one, but they were mostly just worn out land from many people crossing. He was leading her towards a place that was pretty far from the castle yet not far enough that they would lose sight of it. His sparring partners, and father, would help him train here. Mainly during the day time when he couldn't rely on the darkness to help him out.

A large area of mainly dirt. That would work. "My fire is pretty hot. But as long as I don't direct the blast down, it should be fine." She answers as she follows Kage through the castle. Her gaze roaming as they walked. Examining and exploring. It was also her nature to know as much as she could about her surroundings. That way if she was attacked, she knew the easiest escape route if she had to turn and run. Which was not something she did often.
As they leave the castle, a thought suddenly crosses Ruina's mind. She was still in a dress. Perhaps she should have stopped and changed. The dress was fireproof, and it wasn't that she was afraid to get it dirty. It was just a hindrance and a little uncomfortable. Ruina was use to her armor, it gave her more flexibility. But, the dress would have to do for now. Thankfully, she had also worn flat shoes. So she wasn't navigating the path in heels. That would have been quite the disaster.
"So, Prince Doom. What kind of things can you do with your Umbrakinesis? Besides move through the shadows." She though the shadow traveling was pretty cool. She'd heard of those who could travel through their abilities. Even pyrokentics could, and Ruina had been working on it. But it wasn't a skill she was good at yet. Ruina nimbly steps over a rock that she was about to trip over before glancing back at Kage briefly.

"Prince Doom?" He shot her a questioning look, though he didn't mind the name at all. ☆ "Uhh..." Kage shrugged. "Not too much. I can dim lights, I can.. manipulate others emotions to be more negative such as fear, unease or sometimes complacency." He was only listing the parts of his abilities that were unimportant. Being able to create physical objects through shadows? That seemed like something to keep a surprise, unless she pestered him enough. He would happily show off what he could do, but most of it meant he would have to be in a fight. ☆ He would not be caught fighting a princess he just met. It would look.. bad. On him, probably not her. Judging by his past experiences with who his parents chose to blame for things.. Kage was always the answer to that. ☆ "Moving through the shadows to get from one place to another is just a good feeling when it happens, so it's a usual thing for me." He stepped off to the side once they arrived, giving her some space. He didn't want to get caught in any flames, just in case. Not too far, but more.. backwards rather than sideways. ☆ A thought hit him just as he was getting settled in his spot, What if her fire weakens him? It created light, didn't it? If she chose to.. she could tire him, couldn't she? That's a bit problematic considering we're supposed to work together.. Edited at January 2, 2024 01:32 PM by Salem

Ruina shrugs,"I don't know. It just came to mind. Kinda stuck." She glances at him briefly, she could ask about the Firestarter nickname. But that one was obvious. She listens to his explanation of his abilities with a thoughtful expression. She nods every so often. He actually had very interesting abilities.
The only one that surprised her was the manipulating others emotions. That one she didn't expect of a shadow wielder. But it made sense. The one that surprised her the least was the moving through the shadows. Even before Kage had demonstrated it. It just seemed like a natural ability for umbrakinesis users.
As they enter the clearing, Ruina takes a moment to examine her surroundings. Yes, this would do fine, and like she had said earlier. As long as she didn't direct the blast downward, the ground would be safe. And as long as Kage didn't step in the way, he would be fine. She waits for Kage to step away before she begins, a focused look on her face.
The air around Ruina heats up quickly and she opens her mouth, blowing out like she was blowing a bubble. At first nothing happens and then a small blast of steam. She could produce the fire quickly, but she was doing it slow on purpose. The fire came next, starting as a steady stream, directed straight forward. It shot at least ten feet out and was a brilliant orange. The air had gotten hot quick and then got hotter. The flame starts to change color, starting at where it was coming from Ruina's mouth.
Once the whole stream was a fiery blue, Ruina opens her mouth wider, and the stream gets wider until it was about five feet wide. She could hold it for a decent amount of time, but after about three minutes. She releases it, taking a deep breath as the flames disappear and the air starts to cool off.

Kage stood there silently, just watching. Weirdly enough, watching fire was a pasttime of his from before he left to live at Viorela so he felt like this was ... peaceful? It was very cool as well. ♣︎ "Blue?" Kage stepped forward once she was done. "I didn't expect blue from a firestarter, but I've gotta say.. it's pretty interesting. Do you get a personalized fire colour? Or is it a royal thing?" ♣︎ When the fire had been starting everything felt normal, yes.. he was checking to see if the fire created enough light to affect him. Once the fire was nearing the halfway point he felt a bit of a drain and by the peak, it felt like he was being weakened. It wasn't too bad, but it was noticable. ♣︎ "Judging by the questions from earlier, I'm assuming you'd like to see me do.. something with my abilities?" Kage smiled. "I'd be happy to, but the most obvious ones don't have any effect that you'd be able to see. I could show you a little bit of more apparent abilities, if I'm correct in assuming you want to see that." The fog of Whiteridge was thinner around where people lived, obviously so that we could all see, but it did help lessen the sun's rays and help out the royal family. And the stray umbrakinesis users throughout Eskya, naturally. ♣︎ He could move the fog closer to them and make it hard to see, as an example. It wouldn't be too costly.

Ruina turns, a small grin on her face. She hadn't been in any situations that required any of her pyrokentic abilities, so it felt nice to let some fire out. She blinks at Kage. "Oh, no. Every pyrokentic has one of three colors. Orange, yellow, or blue. Orange and yellow is the default and most common of the colors. But, for those who have blue fire. Well, they are considered masters of the art. Blue is the hottest fire known and to be known to produce blue fire is rarer."
There were a decent amount of blue fire pyrokentics around Kheoles, but very few have mastery over it. Ruina herself barely has mastery over it, having just learned how to produce fire hot enough and hold it long enough. "Typically those who have blue fire are those who have almost or absolute control over their abilities." Ruina shrugs,"Most can train and work their way up to blue fire, but most never try."
Ruina answers,"Sure. I mean, I was just asking because I was curious. But, I'd love to see them in action." She flashes a small smile back.

Kage nodded while Ruina talked, following along. "Hmm.. so you're a special dragon huh?" ♧ "Orange and yellow do seem pretty basic, is there no red? That also feels basic. I feel like that should be there." Kage began to draw the fog closer to them as he walked into the middle of the dirt circle. At first he only did it slowly, wanting to make sure they didn't lose sight of each other just yet. ♧ "Alright, so.. fire won't burn through the fog. Don't know if you know that or not, but fog won't be cleared from a fireball either, if you can do that?" Kage conjured shadows from the castle and pulled them towards himself, stretching them over the land. He used the stretched shadows to form a pool under himself, shifting it upwards and forming it into the shape of his shadowbound katana. ♧ "That's one of the abilities I have, can you guess what it's called?" Kage quickly pulled the shadows forward, and as he did so he also expanded the pool of shadow below him to stretch closer and now more arrow-shaped towards the princess. The fog would hide him and when he found the right chance he planned on moving through the shadows below to get to her quickly. This was normally something he did to hide himself in battle, should he be in a particularly foggy area and there's little shadow to blend into. He found it interesting, and really cool, so he tried to find every excuse possible to use that ability. It was also a trick Kuro, his father and King, taught him once he had learned to move through shadows. (All good!)

Ruina shrugs,"I suppose so." She had trained her way up until she had been able to produce blue fire. Knowing that in her line of work, the fiery the fire, the more intimidating she was to her opponents. "Oh, to be honest. The basic fire doesn't really have a set color. You can see orange, yellow, and red. We just classify it as orange or yellow, depends on what we see more." She answers, lifting her shoulder briefly.
There were many different colors of fire, depending on the intensity of the heat. And yet, only two colors were ever really considered. The basic color and the more rare color. That Ruina could not explain, as that has how it had been for a long time. That would be a question for the original pyrokentics who were long dead.
Ruina's grey eyes flicker around as she notices that the fog had gotten a little thicker. No doubt one of Kage's abilities. She chuckles slightly,"No, my fire can burn through natural fog, completely unmanipulated by umbrakentics. But any type of fog controlled by umbrakentics cover my fire." Well, at least she thought so. That's what her brother said, who had experienced using his pyrokentics in fog manipulated by umbrakentics.
She nods,"Yeah, I can do a fireball." She mainly used fireballs as a method of light. They were typically small and hovered over her hand. She raises her eyebrows, impressed, at Kage's shadows moving. She hesitates at his question, thinking back on her studies before she answers. "Umbral Conjuration." She blinks at the arrow shaped fog pointing at her. That was impressive.
