He turned on the heat full blast and shut the door, shivering against the rain. It was a cold, wet one, that's for sure. Definitely not the type of weather to be persuing a runaway in. It wasn't the type of weather to be running from the cops in either.

He was sure the criminal was thinking he was the bad guy and just another full of himself cop. After all, that's what he had acted like. But of course, he really just cared for the criminals and finding them safe places. He did whatever it took to try to persue that, even saying things that was against his moral values. It was part of the job, no matter if he wore the uniform or not.

About 30 minutes passed before any police officers reappeared and when they did, they were empty handed. He frowned and watched as his police friend, the deputy, slipped into the driver's seat.

"Nothing?" He questioned.

"Nothing," The deputy said,"The rain made it impossible to follow her. Would you like a ride to the station or your house?"

"Station, I want to do some research on what type of criminal we were dealing with today," Silas sighed and fastened the seatbelt. He had no clue how she managed to escape this time. Maybe some research would figure that one out.

Whoever it was, next time he would be ready.

The two laid on the couch for hours. The fact they had gotten away was lucky. But Rylee knew if she wanted food for them, she'd need to go out now. While it was still storming, when everyone was inside and when it was still dark, lest she get caught again. Rylee presses a kiss to Maverick's nose, she hated leaving him in the house, there was no sure way to make sure no one would come in and just kidnap the dog. Rylee sighs as she hums to herself, gently petting Maverick, who was half asleep. Or maybe fully asleep, he was laying so still.

Though he finally stirs as Rylee sits up,"I'll be back boy, stay here." Maverick whines, but doesn't lift his head as Rylee gets up,"I'll be quick. Okay, boy?" Maverick whines again, finally lifting his head to watch as his owner hurries out the door, pulling the door shut behind her. She hesitates on the doorstep before continuing onward. She didn't go as far this time, and she went to someone's house. She knew they had a dog, but she also knew that they were out walking right now. They walked no matter the weather, which left their house open.

It didn't take long for Rylee to get inside. She got a medium sized container of dog food and went into the person's fridge and just grabbed the first food container she saw. She was pretty sure it was left over hamburger stroganoff. Which was fine with her, she wasn't picky. Rylee wasn't inside very long and she locks the door on her way out. Hurrying through the rain back to the house. She slips inside, shaking off the rain as Maverick runs up to greet her. A small smile crosses her face,"Hey boy." She crouches down to set the dog food down, opening it. Maverick goes at it at once, chowing down as his owner does the same with the leftovers.

Silas went back to the station and used their showers to get warmed up after his adventures in the rain. He had an extra set of clothes in his locker, casual and an uniform. He was always prepared, even if he hadn't been prepared to catch a criminal today.

The events were still fresh in his mind. He kept on thinking of ways he could have done his job better or had her caught before the police arrived. She had escaped and was probably out there gloating about her victory. He stepped out of the shower and got dressed in his casual clothes.

"Silent alarm going off at 101 Waterway. Repeating: silent alarm...."

The crimes never seemed to cease unless he was the one on duty. He made his way to the dispatch office with a cup of hot coffee in his hand. He peered over the monitor and frowned.

"Enlarge the alarm cam," He ordered, his hand resting on her shoulder as he leaned to look. What he saw amazed him. It was the criminal from before grabbing leftovers from the fridge and sprinting out the door. That was interesting that the criminal had been so clueless to check for silent alarms and cameras in the house.

"Pull up the address again?" Dispatch did that and he frowned. There were a few abandoned houses in that area but not much allyways for criminals to hide. That had to be where she was staying.

He said his thanks and ran to his locker, grabbing his spare tazor and uniform jacket with his spare badge. He raced out the door and jumped in the last police officer responded to the scene.

"Look for abandoned houses," He told the officer, now on a mission to track down this criminal.

It always felt like there was never enough food, because there typically wasn't. But, despite her criminal records and activities, she wasn't really all that about hurting other people. So, she took the bare minimum and she and Maverick survived on what they could. Maverick was a skinny dog, of course Pinscher's were skinny in general. But.. Maverick had little muscle on him. Doberman Pinscher were skinny, yes, but they were also packed with muscle. Maverick was not. Lack of food did that. It wasn't that he didn't get enough exercise or anything, it was purely lack of food.

Rylee sighs as she and Maverick sit on the ground,"I'm sorry, boy." Maverick had his head in her lap. "I could give you away. To someone else. Like the people I got the food from. They could care for you. You wouldn't have to be half starving and cold all the time." Rylee gently pets the dog's head,"You could have a warm cozy bed, and a house that has AC in the summer and heat in the winter. Plenty of food and water, and maybe even another dog." Maverick whines, and a small sad smile flashes across her face. She didn't want to give Maverick up, but the way things were going, she might have to.

Maverick's head suddenly comes up and his fur begins to bristle. Rylee glances at the door,"What is it?" She heard it a few seconds later. In the dead silence of the house, the slightest sound of a car was just loud enough for her ears. Cars didn't often come around this part of town. And she knew it wasn't people returning to the house nearby, because their car had been in the driveway. "Shit. Come on." Rylee gets up, looking around. The containers had been tossed, and there was nothing inside the house that linked it to her. Rylee quietly leads the way out the back door, where they duck down the alleyway. No way was she taking a chance. The alleyway was hidden behind the house, and it cut off into different directions. Giving the two a pretty good escape route.

Silas surveyed the surroundings once they were around the general neighborhood. He was right about there not being much alleyways. Well there's one.

"Slow down," The cop slowed the cop car down. There was only 1, and only 1 alley. That meant that the criminal would go this way to escape. She would probably flee the area rather quickly or at least that's what he would do if he had been a criminal.

The alley was connected to apartments, a pizza place, and an abandon house. That was a good sign. There was also a dumpster. Between pizza and the smell of rotten pizza coming from the dumpster, her dog would have trouble catching his scent. He looked at the apartments and noticed every floor had a balcony. Figuratively the first floor wasn't too far from the ground...

"Go hide the police car and tell Deputy Sands our location," He got out of the police car and shut the door quietly and quickly. The police car drove off, the sound of sirens going with it. He quickly climbed up the first floor balcony ladder and crouched down. The wind was blowing toward him which meant that the dog wouldn't catch his scent. The dog would smell pizza first. Hungry dogs didn't make good sniffers.

It wasn't long until he spotted them. They were fleeing the exactly how he planned they were. He smirked and waiting until they were almost right next to the balcony.

That's when he jumped off and onto her shoulders, his fingers immediately finding a pressure point between her neck and shoulders that would probably knock her out. If not, there was a taser but he preferred the painless method.

"Hi princess," His legs wrapped tightly around her waist, tight enough to knock the breath out of her but not limit her breathing completely. His fingers dug tighter into the pressure point and he began counting.

The two were fleeing under the balcony of another abandoned house when everything went wrong. Rylee should have picked a different route, one that would allow her dog the best way to use his senses. The dumpster they had passed was full of decaying pizza and other food, his nose would be overwhelmed with that. Her fight or flight had kicked in, and her flight hadn't been thought through. She sensed something wrong seconds before it happened, in fact she was half way turned around when it went wrong. When someone slammed into her from above. Knocking her clean to the ground.

"Oof." Was the sound of her hitting the ground. The man, a cop no doubt, had his legs around her waist and his fingers pressed into the pressure point between her neck and shoulders. "Shit." She manages to hiss under her breath. Maverick launches himself forward, just barely able to shove into the man, but it gave Rylee just enough breathing space. But she was at a disadvantage, he'd come from behind and there was nothing she could reach. Maverick bares his teeth, ready to attack, when Rylee sighs,"Down. Lay down, Maverick." The command was barely audible, a wheeze.

The pressure on her neck was excruciating, but she was fighting it. She snaps,"Get off of me. I won't run, swear on my life. And my dog's life. Just get off of me." She didn't have to much fight left in her, but she really didn't want to be hauled to the police station unconscious. It wasn't a pride thing or a ego thing, she just hated being forced to do anything. It was bad enough she got caught, but she wanted to be awake when they hauled her to the station.

Of course he should have prepared for her being knocked down by his weight. He hadn't thought that through. She crumbled against his weight and he barely had time to to reach his free arm out to prevent squishing her to death with the impact of his weight against hers. The seconds were up. She should have been out by now. But she wasn't.

She was a lot smaller that him, probably due to other factors than that she was a woman. She was real thin, he could feel her hip bones against his thighs. It was no wonder why he was able to overpower her so easily. Even though he weighed less than a police officer similar to his height, he still had the advantage of weight against her.

He felt himself being shoved by the dog and it made his weight sit uncomfortable on her. She gave the command to stop and he reshifted, his hand still managing to stay on the pressure point.

He heard her words and that's when he shifted from the bad cop to the good cop. The bad cop would have ignored her pleas The good cop, he listened and the pressure was removed from her neck but not her body. He still had her pinned. He pulled out his phone to call the officer he rode with. His other hand grabbed her wrists and pinned them above her head.

"Tell Deputy Sanders I caught her and to bring handcuffs," He told him and hung up, gazing down at her.

"Well princess, you should have surrendered at the gas station. Things aren't looking too good for you or your dog." His gaze wasn't hostle like it would have been,"I'm not your enemy and I don't want to be. But I will do whatever is necessary if you dare step out of line."

Relief and air surged through Rylee as the cop released the pressure, and though the idea of fighting crossed her mind, she decided against it. There were times to fight, and there were times to surrender. And this was one of those times to surrender, she would find a way to escape later. Rylee listens quietly as the cop made a call, telling the deputy to bring handcuffs. She sighs quietly to herself, great, handcuffs. She hated those, they were always put on way to tightly and it always cut her blood flow off. Thankfully she always managed to get them off before any damage was done.

Rylee snaps,"Don't call me princess, I ain't nobody's princess." She twists slightly in anger at that. She wasn't trying to throw him off, she was just trying to make a point. She didn't like pet names, princess, doll, sweetie, none of that. "Call me criminal, hell call me bastard, but don't call me princess." Maverick growls, leaping back to his paws, reacting to the tone and emotion of his owner. He starts to circle, acting like he was going to pounce. Rylee sighs,"Lay down Maverick." The large dog growls again, but reluctantly obeys, though his head stays up.

Rylee hoped the deputy would hurry up, she did not like being down with the cop on her back, pinning her down. It was not a comfortable position and she did not like other people touching her. The quicker the deputy was, the quicker they would get to the station, and the quicker Rylee could find a way to escape. So she could find a new hiding spot. Sure, if she stayed and went to jail she'd eat three times a day. But, she liked her freedom. She couldn't really explain why she kept escaping just to return to being homeless, she just did.

Silas wasn't affected by her harsh tone or her movement. He was like dead weight on her at this point. The dog did make him a little nervous, mostly because he really didn't want to lose this one. Something about her...she was a special criminal. He just wished he had time to properly investigate her before they were called down to the crime. That way he would have an idea just how special she was.

"Well then, princess,I suggest you tell me your name," He said princess again. This time it just slipped out, he hadn't really meant tot use it again. He was the respectful one. If it was Deputy Sanders he would be a different story. He heard footsteps and looked to see a team of five police officers.

Handcuffs were chucked in his direaction and he caught them, moving one arm at a time to the proper position behind her back and moving more toward her legs to secure them. He made them secure but not tight. Definitely looser than the bad cop would have. He sympathied her just a tad bit. Just a tad.

He got off of her and pulled her to her feet. Like he mentioned before, she was rather light,"Okay, I'm going to pat you down now unless you'd rather just tell me where you've hidden your weapons?"

That was a joke. Either way he was patting her down. He was just waiting for consent. That's what also differed between bad cops and good cops.

"Rylee. My name is Rylee."

That was all she gave him, he had no use for her last name. Not that it mattered. No doubt she would just be another criminal passing through for him. Though no doubt she left an impression by escaping at the gas station. She hears the sound of people approaching and glances over to see five cops, great, now there was definitely no chance of escape. This part of town had great escape routes, except for this particular alley, it did not aid anyone's escape. The alley would be of no help, and with five after her, and her not as fast as she use to be, the odds were not in her favor. Not at all.

She lays there quiet as he cuffs her, somewhat thankful that the cuffs were decently loose, not enough to cut blood flow off. And she was already moving to her feet as the cop gets off her and starts hauling her to her feet. At his request for her to show him her weapons lest she be patted down, she simply raises an eyebrow, weapons? The bat was in the house, and that was it. She inclines her head toward Maverick,"There. There's my weapon." It was a sarcastic answer, sure Maverick could be considered a weapon, but she hardly used him as one. Because if he attacked someone and they were caught, he would be euthanized, and she couldn't bear losing him.

Rylee then relents,"The bat's in the house. I ain't got any other weapon." She quickly adds,"Don't muzzle Maverick, please. I swear he won't attack, especially if I order him not to, which I won't. He hates muzzles." There, her weakness. Her love for her dog, her sole weakness. It would no doubt get her killed or permanently captured one day, but she couldn't help it. Maverick had been her constant companion in life since she had found him as a pup abandoned. She had kept him and raised him best she could. They were best friends.
