Hyll stuck close beside Neo, after looking back to Rowan, who smiled in encouragement. The woman wasn't too far behind them, watching over the children with her hawk eyes. The border may be getting stronger, but there were still dangers, and the children were young.

Alvaro landed delicately next to Rowan. A small smile on his face. "Dang, you already have three children so young. How in the world are you going to do it?" He was joking obviously, which was good since he had rarely smiled when he was the only one burdened with the border. Now, he was a lot less tense and just felt a bit freer.

"I mean... I'm 25. Which may not be a lot to you, but it's a good age for mortals. I'd be expected to already be married and have a child by now, if I had been a girl out there," Rowan shrugged, but she was grinning, "And besides - Neo is very mature, and Hyll seems the same way. Nakia is a bundle of energy, but is very sweet and listens." Rowan bumped her shoulders with Alvaro, "So, I guess I'm just going to do my best."

Alvaro's eyes widened, although he was aware of humans and their aging habits. It was still a shock. He had thought Rowan to be much younger. Humans were weird. "I didn't think you were any older than 20. Wow, and humans have weird standards. And rather stupid ones too. It is much to harsh on the females of the society. You should just be accepted as you are. Plus, 25 is still very young. Even for humans. And you are right about the children, they are sweet." Alvaro smiled as Rowan bumped his shoulder, it was odd, not having to act like he in control of the situation. As he was the second in command, it was expected of him to be in control of all situations. He didn't have to act that way around Rowan and the children because they weren't faeries. And he liked that.

"Well," Rowan chuckled, "I am immortal. I suppose that keeps me looking young. My parents wouldn't have done that. I know that they wouldn't have. The twins found who they loved on their own, and got married when they wanted to. They wouldn't have forced anything, but society would have pressured me. Luckily, I'm relatively masculine looking, so I passed at the Knight Manor. Then during the war, it only mattered if you could fight. If people figured out my gender, they didn't say anything." Rowan fell silent, "Sorry, I tend to ramble on a lot, and go off topic. But yes. Out of everything, the children are as sweet as can be. I'm lucky."

Alvaro listened in silence, his eyes flickering between the children up ahead and Rowan. He was a good listener, he always had been, so when Rowan stopped and apologized, he seemed a little shocked. "It is not a problem at all Rowan, I enjoy listening. I know you haven't gotten to speak like this for awhile, living in that small village. As for your parents, I have heard about them. As faeries always know the newest information, and, don't tell anyone I said this, but we are really nosy too. Stick our noses into business that isn't exactly ours. And I think that you turned out to be a great warrior." Alvaro smiled, wings fluttering and mark pulsing. She seemed at ease for the first time in a long time.

Rowan huffed, but she was smiling, "I haven't ever been able to talk about this, really. During it all, very few people ever confronted me about my gender, but they all kept it a secret. It's not something we'd talk about, and eventually we were too busy to worry about trivial things. I appreciate that you think I am a good warrior. It was my dream since I was a tiny child," Rowan chuckled, "Faeries and humans aren't so different in some senses. Humans always seem to find interest in places they don't need to be."

Alvaro listened with a smile. He was always smiling when walking through town, since faeries could normally feel a leaders anger, he always had to be extra careful around them. To make sure they wouldn't have to deal with any emotions he accidentally projected on them. Right now though, he was truly happy to be hearing Rowan's story. She must trusted him in order to tell him all this stuff "Yes, both races are very nosy and curious. Though, in the faerie zones, there are lots of rumors instead of actual facts running around, though I suppose it's the same way in the human world too." Alvaro shrugged, glancing at Rowan from the corner of his eyes. "And I wasn't joking when I said you're a good warrior. You really are one." He smiled with those light green eyes of his, this was the first time he'd felt so free and it was all because now he had someone working on he border with him.

Rowan grinned, "Well, thank you. I try my best," the silence lasted only a few seconds, "So. How long has this faerie village existed? The trees look ancient." Rowan placed a hand on the bark of a tall and proud tree, and looked up, before letting her hand fall away and move on. "The trees feel sentient, in a way. Not like how Hyll is, but... they've lived their long life, and have seen the rise and fall throughout the centuries."

Alvaro thought for a moment, counting on his fingers. He had been here for the entirety of this village's existence. The thing is, faeries don't often keep track of time, especially years. So it took him a moment to decide. Still looking as if he wasn't sure. "Well, the forest itself has been here for a very, very long time. Of course, they weren't this old when we got here... Let's see I was what, maybe 103 when I found this place so that makes the village.. around 140 years old. Of course, we've expanded over the years. As for the trees.." Aldwin branched out, feeling the trees and their wisdom. "They don't even remember how old they are. But yes, all trees are sentient. Not like Hyll but wiser. And less emotional." Alvaro knew these things from his many years of life.
