I put damp paper towels for my crickets, when I had them. A heatlamp on One end and a shade on the other so they can self regulate temperature... Then again I never kept them for long, just enough that I could feed my lizard without murdering my wallet...

Found a freezing Wasp, he was curled up next to another wasp(who sadly didn't make it), I'm keeping the survivor alive right now, I put him in a dry old fish tank, and I have my room heater on,
Any tips for taking care of a wasp?
I'm feeding him black berry juice right now

Oh he's a fiend for tug o' war, that little weasel puppy! I, foolish creature that I am, thought he would tire before my arms did... I think my dog (a very large, very chill Black Mouth Cur) wasn't half this hyper as a puppy, and he's a working breed! Perhaps my own dog, who is truly a curmudgeonly old man at heart, has warped my memory!

Álvaro brought nothing, he had a storage place out there (heavily protected by Alvaro's own powers mind you) where he kept food and water. Most of the woodland animals had fled or took refuge in the town. The remaining faeries protected the creatures as much as they did their own kind. "Let's get going then!" He smiled and stepped off the ground, his wings flapping rapidly. Much like hummingbirds, faeries rapidly beat their wings to stay in the air. They couldn't glide, their wings were strong perhaps, but not thick enough to keep them up in the air if they stopped flying.

Rowan nodded, and said one last goodbye to Neo, along with the reassurance she'd be back in a few days. Then, she was off, following after Alvaro as he flew. Frost could keep up well enough, even in his older age. Her horse wasn't in the best shape - not in the way where he wasn't being taken care of - but that he was chunky. He hadn't ever been a war horse. He was being sold at some sketchy place by an conman. Luckily, Rowan's affinity with horses helped her see the potential and goodness in Frost. From then on, they were a duo.

Alvaro smiled back at Rowan and kept up his speed. He slowed down whenever he felt like the others needed a rest but they made it to the border by noon. Gently, he touched down, landing on the soft grass underfoot with a dull thump. "No one else comes out here unless we have a meeting. Not after all the attacks. We should be alone for the most part." Alvaro shrugged and snapped his fingers, a soft whooshing sound came from the snap and a clearing opened up. Revealing a small camp, with five tents in total though there would only be three in use. "That one is the kitchen tent basically, its where we keep pots and pans and all necessities. That little structure over there is where the food is stored, it keeps the rodents out and bears away too. You can choose whatever tent you want." He pulled open the flap for his tent and threw his stuff inside. "Speaking of other animals, the forest creatures have mostly fled, meaning your horse will be safe as long as he stays within the borders of the clearing." Alvaro had been one of the people who had put the magic on this clearing. He knew exactly how it worked.

Rowan dismounted, and began to unload her few things from the saddle before unpacking Frost. She scratched his forehead lovingly, staring into his eyes to make sure he understood Alvaro's words. When she was finished, Rowan removed her hand, and Frost walked off to graze.
Rowan chose her tent, and put her gear inside, along with her tack, keeping her sword strapped to her waist, and knives in her boots. It never hurt to be prepared.

Alvaro fixed all the new supplies he'd brought and strapped his sword on. This close to the border made Alvaro's mark shine with magic. Many faeries were drawn to the border and its insane amount of power. A power that Alvaro and 2 others had created when they'd first made this haven. It was supposed to be a safe place, open to all alliances and people who needed help. Of course, the border wasn't exactly working anymore, to much damage had hit its core.
So when the scream of pain reached the air it was somewhat expected. That didn't stop Alvaro from jumping up to reach whoever it was.

Rowan was equally as quick to react. She drew her sword and hurried to the source of the noise. Her knight training and natural instincts made it practically impossible to ignore the sound of someone in distress.

Alvaro jumped into the air and snapped his fingers again, revealing the exit. He kept it open for Rowan before snapping it closed again. Using his supernatural hearing, he located whoever had screamed and flew straight there.
The scene was both horrific and sad. Blood. The smell was overwhelming. Both pure blood and tainted. Alvaro landed and brought out his sword. Holding it in front of him and letting his mark glow. He smelled a shifter, specifically a catamount, or a cougar if you don't know. Alvaro lowered his sword, often times they weren't particularly hostile but there had obviously been a fight here recently. And after fights the animal inside of them tended to come out more.
So although Alvaro was keeping his sword low, he was also on guard. That's when he heard the soft sobs. He followed the noise to a small clearing. 3 dying manticores lay in the clearing, obviously about to dissipate. And in the middle of it all, a huge mountain lion lay. Alvaro winced, she was in so much pain. There were gashes and cuts along of her pelt. The lion wasn't the one sobbing though, a small girl, maybe the age of 5 or 6 was crying over the big cat. The little girl had tan skin with long, straight brown hair with blond highlights that only shifters could have naturally. Alvaro walked a step closer and the girl didn't even budge. She just wailed. "Mommy please get up, please." The little girl shook and cried fiercely. Her mother's ear twitched towards the two who were invading her final resting place. She didn't seem angry or scared of them, if anything she just looked at Alvaro with an inquisitive gaze.
"Take care of her...please faerie." Alvaro heard the woman's voice loud and clear in his mind and gave her a nod. With that she closed her eyes and didn't open them again. The little girl finally turned around, her eyes a brilliant amber in color. She saw the two and cried out again, terrified. "Please leave us alone." She cried on and on, shifting into a small cougar and hissing at the two but to tired and exhausted to do any real damage.

Rowan quickly sheathed her sword, and held out her hands in an offering of peace. Tears had welled up in her own eyes, and with a small glance to Alvaro - just enough to make sure he knew she was going to lower her guard - she went lower to the ground. Rowan softly hummed a wordless tune, and for once, things didn't start to die as she used her magic. Perhaps Rowan was delving more into her own soul this time, or perhaps she wasn't even using all that much magic, but there was more control than other times. Rowan had always been able to calm animals, and just recently she understood why. Her power was greater (and less destructive) with horses, but it could still work in other ways. This being one of them.
"Oh, honey, I'm sorry," she found herself whispering.

Alvaro himself sent off his natural aura of a forest creature. One who lived here like her. Most unnatural creatures had a way of identifying each other, whether by scent or a physical attribute such as multi-colored hair or a glowing mark. Children though, didn't really understand this, they relied on magical auras to see who was what and what side they were on.
Anyone could see that this girl wasn't exactly tamed. She and her mother were obviously lone shifters. Like most catamounts were. They stayed away from human crowds unless they were bonded to one. This girl had probably never been to a village, she was almost feral. Alvaro understood this though, it was the way of the shifters.
The girl was still in her little cougar form, a tiny little one. Reaching only a few inches under Alvaro's knee. The girl seemed terrified and fragile. then Rowan started her soft humming. The changes happened slowly; she stopped hissing and listened. Her little ears flicking forwards and her eyes staying on Rowan. She slowly creeped forwards. Her movements timid and terrified. Finally, she laid down in front of Rowan. Not touching, but close enough.

Rowan didn't try to touch the little girl, instead, with slow movements, she settled herself onto the ground. The sword was in the way, so she slowly unclipped her sheath and put it behind her, humming all the while. Rowan kept her eyes on the dirt, and let her hand rest lightly in front of her. The humming began to form into words, and Rowan began to sing about warm cozy dens, and breezes with fresh air, and the feeling of having freedom. Rowan didn't know where it came from, but it seemed right.
