Rylie asked once again what their task was. "What are we here to do? If you don't get to it soon, I'm going to leave. I have classes to attend, you know." The boy nodded. "I do as well. Please, will you stop beating around the bush and get to it?" The Head Professor sighed and nodded. "Officer, you can come in now." A police officer walked into the office, stopping next to the Head Professor. "I'm officer Higgler. We have a significant issue. There is a mafia, a large one, that's roaming the city. They're the ones running the underground. We've been trying to catch them for a while now, but they always elude us. With more and more problems and crimes popping up all over the city, our forces have been stretched to their limits. We heard there were two students at the criminology university. We wanted to ask you if you'd be willing to help us catch this mafia boss?" The boy crossed his arms, his gaze skeptical. But Rylie had already agreed. "Sure, it'll spice things up. Things have been a bit too boring." The boy scoffed. "We still have our classes. What are we going to do about that? I doubt that we'll be able to balance university and this job." "Speak for yourself," Rylie responded. The boy scowled at her and turned his face away from her. "We'll cover that for you. Your grades will remain the same until you return." Officer Higgler said. Rylie nodded, and the boy reluctantly agreed. While walking out, Rylie turned to the boy and said, "I don't really care , but since we're supposed to be working together,r I'll need your name."

"Jordan." The boy said. nodded, Rylie followed officer Higgler to the station, getting into his cop car. Jordan sat down next to her, neither of them talking. Exiting the car, she walked into the station. Officer Higgler gave them both a folder with the information on the mafia leader. "Here's all the information we have on the mafia and their leader," he said. "Remember to be careful. I know you have been studying to be investigator in criminology, but regardless, you're still students. This is a large-scale mafia situation. Be very, very careful, and don't be afraid to call backup if you need help." "And how are we supposed to do that?" Jordan asked. Officer Higgler tossed them both a radio, as well as a holstered gun and a taser. "With these. I cannot empathize this enough. Be. Careful."

Rylie and Jordan walked out of the police station together. Jordan nodded to two vehicles in the parking lot. "Officer Higgler gave me keys to the car and the motorcycle. Which one you want? I suggest we search separately at first, so we can cover more ground." He held up both of the sets of keys. Rylie grabbed the motorcycle keys and slipped the helmet over her head. "I'll take the motorcycle. And yeah, good idea. Stay on radio channel seven, and radio me if you find anything. Don't engage unless completely necessary, and even then, call for backup first." Jordan scoffed and walked over to the car. "I'm not an idiot, Hawkens. I know what to do. Remember, the same goes for you." "I'm aware."

Rylie got onto the motorcycle and flipped down the visor on the helmet, covering her eyes in tinted tempered glass. She revved the motorcycle, making sure it was working, and then pulled out of the police parking lot. Jordan had pulled out after her and sped away toward the north part of the city. Rylie headed toward the southern part and took a look around while she was driving, making sure that the road was clear before she glanced around. She had read the file quickly, skimming it to pick up the most important information. The mafia's boss' name was Elis, and they had a pretty vague description of him. She looked around for a while, scoping out the southern part of the city for places she would have to investigate and scout. She marked down the coordinates of three structures: A warehouse, an abandoned building, probably an apartment building, and an old construction site that was closed and chained off.

Deciding to scout out the construction site first, she pulled over the motorcycle a couple of blocks away from the site and swung her leg over the motorcycle, getting off of it. She walked silently over to the chained gate of the closed construction site and slipped through a hole in the fence. She spent a good two and a half hours sneaking through the site and searching it for any signs of the mafia being there. When she didn't find anything, she snuck out through the same hole she snuck in. Hopping back on her motorcycle, she went over to the abandoned apartment building and swept through it, also not finding anything. That leaves one place left to check. She thought. The warehouse.
