Magdalene passed by Carwen as the pixie seemed to be heading down below deck. Now that they were past the mouth of the river, the crew was significantly calmer, although whoever was at the wheel would be sweating up a storm trying to keep to the middle. Even if it made Magdalene's skin crawl to not personally know the experience level of the lad at the wheel, she could trust that Carwen wouldn't want her ship wrecked, and would be certain of their steering capabilities. "I'll keep watch," The captain grunted the halfhearted assurance, "Rest up. We don't know what'll be ahead."

Carwen was quite confident at her quartermaster's ability to steer the ship, Northcliff was a very smart lad, and his talent in commanding the ship was practically effortless. Oftentimes, the two would trade places so one could rest. Seeing how Magdalene and her crew were also aboard, Carwen had thought to ease their worry by steering the ship for a majority of the time that the other crew were there. After the earlier excitement though, Carwen was about to crash, and preferred not to do that in front of the other crew. It would be most embarrassing and she didn't want to feel stupid the whole time the other crew was on board. Carwen looked up as Magdalene passed, and gave the other captain a weak smile in greeting. At her words, Carwen's eyebrows shot up. Was that... reassurance coming out of Backstabbers mouth? Perhaps Magdalene wasn't as ruthless as she liked to portray herself as. "Thank you, and I will. Goodnight." Carwen gave a tiny wave before walking off to her room, exhaustion making her small form hunched over and seem tinier than usual.

A few peaceful hours passed as Carwen slept, but, like always, the calm didn't last. As they neared the exit of the river, there was a shout from the crow's nest, "The Gally-Hopper is ahead!" Instantly, all of Carwen's crew bristled and began to grab load the cannons, and grab their guns. Magdalene grabbed the collar of a younger lad of Carwen's crew and hauled him in close, "Gally-Hopper?" She'd heard of the ship before, and it was always better to be careful, but Carwen's crew seemed almost... angry, "The Capt'n and Ms O'Gally don't get along none. Hate each other somethin' fierce - always tryn t' take the other down." Magdalene nodded and released the boys shirt, then waved for her crew to assist with the battle stations, setting Haywood in charge while she woke Carwen, as her quartermaster was busy giving directions. Tromping heavily down the stairs, Magdalene rapped loudly on the door, "Carwen! You've got some friends outside, though they don't seem too friendly. The Gally-Hopper. Get your ass up-top quick."

Carwen immediately jolted awake, her eyes adjusting to the dim light as she quickly grabbed her two trust guns and slipped her knife into its sheath. Within a minute, Carwen had opened her door, her eyes glimmered with an intense hatred, and her hands were clenched into small fists. Despite her tiny stature, she still looked something fierce. "She can't give us a damn break can she Curse every single damned sea god, always in that dreadful woman's favor," Carwen practically growled the words. Although she would prefer to keep things peacefull, O'Gally was hardly a peaceful pirate. "I trust someone has already told you what's happening then?" Carwen asked as she hurried past (yo is it passed or past? I can't ever get it right and I'm supposed to be smart) Magdalene, a raging storm in her eyes.

Magdalene quirked up an eyebrow, "Yeah. Or I at least know enough." It was pretty simple stuff: someone wanted to shoot at them, so they just had to shoot first. A case of neutralizing the threat then moving on. The other difference in this is that there seemed to be some personal stake in it, which was never good. It just made the fighting more messy. "Your quartermaster is directing my crew on where to go, so the cannons are set. And there are people on deck with guns and sabers ready for whatever come our way," Magdalene informed Carwen, following the smaller captain with an almost amused look on her face. It was quite interesting to see how worked up the other woman got, and how eager for this fight she appeared to be.

Carwen nodded, her pale face having turned a deep red, practically the same color as blood. "Thank the gods for Northcliff otherwise the ship would already be sinking as we speak. I doubt O'Gally will get very far, she's only here to bother us, as per her normal annoying ass." Truthfully, Carwen didn't exactly hate O'Gally, she was a decent enough and had been a nice girlfriend for a time, but Carwen had matured, O'Gally had not, and practically anyone could see that. Once they reached topside, Carwen spoke to Northcliff in hushed tones, anger covering her face as her own crew scurried about, avoiding their short, angry captain. Northcliff already looked exasperated, but had somehow managed to convince Carwen to calm a bit and instead try to reason with the other angry captain. Carwen headed over to the side of her ship, pulling herself up to her full height as she yelled over at the other captain. "Oi O'Gally! Did you really miss me in your bed so much you had to stop my entire ship?! Ya coulda' just asked politely you absolute dumbass!" At Carwen's words, Northcliff released a great sigh and placed his head in his hands. The rest of the crew shook in their boots. Very rarily did one ever get to witness the grave anger of Captain Carwen Ramsay, but when they did, it was something one could never forget.

In great contrast to Carwen's crew, Magdalene's immediately tried not to laugh. Magdalene included. However, the captain stood semi-near Carwen, looking over the opposing pirate's ship - and their captain. The infamous O'Gally was leaning over the railing as well, and shouted back, "Awww sweetheart, I didn't know you cared! And I was just relaxing - you were the one to actually stop!" Ah. Magdalene now understood the nature of the relationship between two captains. They were pissed at one another, yet also not angry enough to want to kill the other. It seemed to be more of a petty fight than anything. Magdalene was pulled out of her musing by more of O'Gally's hollering, "I see some new faces, my little Bootstrap!" O'Gally scrunched up her nose, "Find someone new to replace me? Well if Ms. Tall, dark and gorgeous wants someone who is actually fun I can lower down a plank!"

While Carwen fumed, Northcliff dashed off, letting his captain shake in anger while he spoke to his crew in hushed voices. While the crew trembled in their boots, Northcliff stayed calm, if not a little exasperated. As the quartermaster, Northcliff kept a cool head in situations where Carwen couldn't. Most of the time she was pretty level headed, quick to anger but kept her rage in check, when it came to past lovers though, Carwen was an entirely different person. She tended to become unreasonable and filled with rage. He'd mentioned once that if she chose who she spent her time with a bit better then perhaps she wouldn't have to deal with at least a dozen exes across the seven seas. That comment hadn't gone well, and she stopped speaking to him for eighteen long days. So Northcliff was well aware as to why the crew was being so cautious, Captain Carwen was well known for her fiery temper amongst her exes. Carwen's pointed ears turned a soft pink as O'Gally spoke, though her expression did not change in the slightest, if anything, her frown deepened. "I was asleep actually, having quite a pleasant dream until I was awoken to a banging on my door telling me that your stupid arse had shown up. I wasn't even steering so HAH," Carwen yelled over, crossing her arms defensively as she pushed her blonde hair out of her face. At the term little bootstrap, Carwen almost threw herself off the ship, pulling out her dagger as if she was about to swim over to the other ship. Luckily, Northcliff had rushed over, and without thinking picked her up, planted her feet back on the deck, and swapped the knife in her hand for a banana. Carwen glared at his angrily before throwing the banana at O'Gally's head, as she yelled, "I am no one's bootstrap you big, loathsome roach, and this is Captain Magdalene Backstabber you genius, she'll have a bullet between your eyes before you could think, and no one would stop her!" Carwen threw her arms out in a rather exasperated gesture. Meanwhile, the rest of the crew was listening to Northcliff's orders to prep the ship to just straight up leave. He was already tired of the two's bickering.

O'Gally just stared at Carwen as the banana boinked off of her head, and fell to the deck of the ship. The pirate just stared at it for a long moment before looking back up, "The fuck did you just throw at me Car-Car?A banana? Really? Why?" O'Gally grumbled to herself, although she was trying to hold in laughter. After a few moments though, she couldn't hold it in, and sputtered out a loud, wheezing laugh, although it quickly came to an end. Any amusement through O'Gally's crew quieted down as well, and the captain lifted her hands up non-threateningly, "Whoops - definitely did not know who you were. My bad there, Capt'n Magdalene. Pretend I said nothing." Magdalene just shrugged, a smirk playing at her mouth. It was obvious the two wouldn't escalate much more than this, so she turned on her heel and went to check with Haywood, who was directing the crew while Northcliff was at the wheel. O'Gally and Carwen were not done, though, "So... you got a big scary lady aboard. What's up with that? Goin' treasure huntin'?"

The laughter that came from O'Gally's mouth after Carwen had very viciously thrown at her caused the small woman to glare at O'Gally intensely. Being laughed at was not something Carwen enjoyed, though she could understand how her throwing a banana was funny, she had meant it in a rather threatening manner that O'Gally seemed to not understand. Carwen couldn't help but grin as the smile quickly dropped off O'Gally's face at Magdalene's name, though she quite wished that her own name held that much weight. The grin quickly slipped off her own face at O'Gally's questioning, and Carwen immediately scrunched up her small nose with disgust. "Now why the hell would I tell you? And don't call me Car-Car, I'm not your pet." Carwen practically spat out the last sentence, she hated most pet names with a passion, very, very few could get away with calling her anything other than her given name, and the honor of doing otherwise was not bestowed upon just anyone. O'Gally no longer held that right.
