Jason's voice was tight. He heard the thought of the "real world" and didn't like it. "This. This is not the real world. This is a violent world. This is the world of people committing crimes for selfish and stupid reasons. The real world is not with thievery or murder. Addi prepared you for the world you chose to live in by doing whatever crime you did. If you hadn't done that, you would be in the real world. If we hadn't done the stuff we have done, we would all be in the real world. So don't think that this is how the world works. This is how you forced it to work." Jason ran a hand through his hair. He waited for a little while, then spoke again, "I didn't mean to target you, as if it was only you. It's everyone around here. We've all made mistakes that we could have avoided. And that's where Addi and I differ in a huge way."

Zane's eyes widened as Jason legitimately read his mind, Addilyn had told him about it but mind readers were so rare. It just didn't make sense. "Addilyn could have said she didn't want to be with you, she could have told the police everything you did and said you had kidnapped her. So, if you really thought about it you would realize that Addilyn chose what she got." Zane wanted so badly to say something about the mind reading part but he didn't. In fact, he had to keep his mind firm on the conversation so he wouldn't give himself away.

"And I never said she didn't choose. We have all chosen to be where we are in some way. The place where Addi and I differ is that I know that I could have made better choices. She thinks that where she is now was inevitable. That no matter what she did, she would end up here. I don't think that." Jason didn't look at Zane at all, "And I trust you, and so your brain isn't so loud all of the time, I'll tell you. I'm a mind reader. I don't try to pry in anyone's thoughts, but when people are thinking really hard about something, I can't not hear it."

"That's a double negative," was Zane's first thought after Jason spoke. He smirked a bit as his own stupidity before replying. "Yea, I kinda guessed honestly. Plus, Addilyn had mentioned it a few times. Hey Jason, you don't have to answer this but I just wanted to know, cuz I know Addilyn but I don't know you. I already trust you but I just want to make are, and if you don't want to answer my question that's fine too. It would be great if you answered it though." Zane took a deep breath before continuing, hoping that Jason wouldn't take this the wrong way. "Do you love Addilyn?"

"Aways," Jason said immediately. He didn't stop to think about at all. Loving her was as easy as breathing. "She is my everything, and the reason I'm still alive. Still alive multiple times over, in fact." His hands tapped on his pant legs, as he needed to keep moving or doing something.

For some reason, this made Zane happier. His eyes brightening a bit though there wasn't a real smile. "Okay, I can leave now if I'm bothering you. Everyone says I'm annoying anyways so I know you probably think I'm annoying too. That's okay though! I'm used to it." This statement somehow seemed to fit in with how Zane was the youngest. How when Addilyn wasn't there he had no one to talk to, Iris had talked to him and Amika did too. But everyone else just teased him and pushed him around. It wasn't fun.

Jason tousled Zane's hair in a brotherly fashion, "You aren't bothering me at all. In fact, I have a question for you. What is this place? Earls place." Jasom thought for a little longer, "I'm not sure how else to ask the question..."

When Jason messed with Zane's hair, the poor child got slightly confused. No one did that other than Addilyn, even then she did it only when she was in a good mood. So Jason's touch shocked him more than anything. "I-if you mean what it's used for then it's mostly used for sheltering his friends. Earl knows everyone in here by name and normally knows everything about everyone staying here. It's almost like a hotel except it's free, for those that wish to stay as if this was an apartment place, then you have to pay Earl somehow. It doesn't have to be in money. Supplies or swears are good enough." After a moment, Zane realized that Jason probably didn't know what a swear was. "A swear is when you promise yourself to that person, meaning they can use you to steal or can boss you around. I don't know what Addilyn did exactly, she never told us." Zane added this all in rather quickly, his shock beginning to fade.

"A swear, most likely, as she went into the closet without a fight when he told her to." Suddenly, Jason looked panicked. "Crap. Rainbow. Zane, i need you to go get Ribs. I'm pretty sure he went to find a restroom. Tell him to hurry." There was a sense of urgency in his voice. "We need to find Rainbow.... fast."

"Okay, I'll just run to the restroom in your apartment. You should find that dude. I'll go find Ribs now." Zane's smile disappeared and he ran for Jason's apartment.
