Jonas didn't move from his seat. His eyes only tracked the medics as they collected the child. He could help but wonder what life was like here. Not just for Angel, but for everyone. Did they revere Jolon? Or did they see the flaws, and were pushed into submission by his power and backing?
It was a curious and dangerous situation.
Jonas knew that the final trial Addilyn would face was going to be fighting Jolon.
Jonas flinched.
That was a lie.
There would be so much more beyond Jolon.
His advisers, for one, which he was sure Jason was going to attempt to get rid of.
And there was another trial: Jason.
If he, a nonmagical person, even survived killing the most powerful and evil witches, would Addilyn forgive him? Would she see he did it to get rid of the rest of the evil? Or would she only see him standing with Jolon on that bridge, walking away from what everyone had felt to be a family.
...
And would Jason see past whatever was revealed tonight in the terrified, vicious woman who now had nothing to live and fight for, save for a vague image of justice?
...
Jonas didn't know, and that was the issue. All they could do was watch as an immortal genius's plan unfolded, with all being only pieces in his twisted game.

Zane stormed back to his seat, his jaw set and his fists clenched tightly. He hated having to put up with Addilyn's constant differing in personalities. Sometimes she was too emotional and sometimes she was too emotionless. He supposed that it had something to do with the fact that a part of her would always be missing, that the most vital part of her existence was trapped inside her memory yet hidden so completely from her.
"This world is shit you know," Zane paused, not knowing if he should continue saying was he was about to tell Jonas. "Most of the people in this arena are terrified of Jolon, so they just let him do what he wants. Instead of directing that fear towards something good they keep it all locked up and they all act as if they enjoy it, and some do. Some sickos actually enjoy seeing kids kill each other, and no matter how much I hate it, we can't do anything. And the only person who can is too locked up in her own brain to understand what's happening." Zane stopped his eyes closing as he opened his fist, deep red gashes on his palm from where he his nails had dug into his skin appearing against his pale skin.
"Sorry, I'm just frustrated," Zane sighed trying to clear his own brain of the dark thoughts that seeped in.
Addilyn said nothing as Kaitlyn approached, she was to busy calming herself down and pushing down the biting anger that rose in the back of her throat. "Chill out Addilyn, we're all just frustrated, you have another fight soon you need to focus on that. I know this sucks, but once this is over, its over, and you can go back with Destan and forget about all of this." Kaitlyn ran a hand through Addilyn's hair, the girl trembling slightly at the motherly touch as she snapped back.
"How am I supposed to forget all about this? I can't forget about this when for the past 17 years of my life have revolved around him. Jolon has tortured me, mentally and physically, do you think I could just forget about that? Not to mention the constant fog in my mind and the information that's right there that I just can't reach, and I know you and Zane are hiding something from me, I'm not stupid! I don't want to deal with this anymore. I hate this, I hate being like this, what's wrong with me Kaitlyn? What's wrong with me?" Addilyn began to cry as the spell on Kit fizzled out, all of her emotions returning in full blast as Kaitlyn sat down next to her and hugged her the poor child was barely, oh so barely, holding herself together.
Kit snapped out of his sad stupor when the spell between him and Addilyn suddenly disappeared. His fragile connection with Addilyn alerted him that she was overwhelmed with sadness and fear, in fact, it seemed as if the emotions were forcing the connection between the two to strengthen. Kit looked up with wide eyes at Jason and turned his head as an adviser hissed in pain and when asked what was wrong, replied with, "someone is being very loud with their sadness and... fear? These damn peasants are absolutely annoying." The adviser was a well educated man who's main power was sensing others emotions. He had felt Addilyn's emotions so strongly that it had caused him pain.
"Jason, something is happening, the spell holding Addilyn's 'weak' emotions on me has completely disappeared, and she is unbearably sad. I don't understand what is happening." Kit glanced once at Jason as he laid back down, alerting the man as to what had just occurred.

Jonas reached out a hand and patted the younger looking kid on the back. He didn't say anything and only listened to Zane's words, closing his eyes and letting it all sink in. When he finally dared to speak, Jonas didn't open his eyes yet, "Yeah. This world is shit. But there is a reason we all exist." He turned and opened his eyes, which were clearer than they've ever been, but far away at the same time, and looked directly at Zane, seeing a soul that was much to old for the young body it inhabited, "I don't know what that reason is... or why anything could be so cruel to make this our lives... to make this real life... but if I don't believe it I'll go crazy." Zane was an interesting character, and Jonas was sure there was more to him than just a background character... someone there to help grow someone else into something. Yet, here he was, "Zane... I'm not sure what your story is, but I am sure it's goes beyond what everyone else sees right here. You look young, but feel older." Jonas looked out into the area.
The next fight will start soon.
"I hope you can find your happiness somewhere. I hope you can movement beyond the now. But then again, I get the feeling you've been in this situation before."
Jonas dropped his hand, having forgotten where it was, and shook his head, hazy eyes clearing, "Sorry... Sometimes I don't know where my mind goes. I hope I didn't speak out of turn."
-
Jason had felt the overwhelming plea in his mind seconds before Kit mentioned it. His power of mind reading often remained dormant in him, and Jason only used it when it was absolutely necessary. Yet, this wordless plea and cry into the dark struck him.
He knew that mind: Addilyn.
Jason blinked once... twice... slowly... and breathed outwards. He had to calm his own mind, and gently pressed Addilyn out of his conscious. He couldn't have her mind take over his, even as it awakened his need to protect her.
Jason had figured out in his short time here that he really didn't know Addilyn's past at all. He had no idea what the story was to cause this pain... but glancing at the dangerous, powerful man beside him... Jason had an idea of who the source was.

Zane listened to Jonas carefully, not quite understanding how Jonas had gathered all of that from knowing him for such a little amount of time. Especially since he said all of that while Amika still treated him like a child and Brax like a younger brother. The only one who knew his true age was Kaitlyn and would've been Addilyn as well but.... well the struggles with that were obvious. Though she did have an idea that he was very, very old.
"It's okay, I don't mind. Thank you though, your words are truly helpful. I mean it." Zane was being serious, he truly was thankful that Jonas even cared enough to talk to him. He cleared his throat before continuing, "the next fight might not happen. The woman who holds the fourth position is not fond of Jolon and may just forfeit, it isn't unheard of. Though it is very highly looked down upon."
Kit was recovering quickly from the spell, returning to a more stable state than before. He acted as if he felt the exact same but he was honestly in a very good mood compared to before the spell had been broken.
Jolon looked up as Andres suddenly open the door, two guards behind him, dragging a smiling woman in, her eyes a light amber sort of color. "What is this?" Jolon's voice was strong and firm, he looked awfully annoyed at Andres, as he was still pissed from before.
"Lorena has forfeited her fight with Addilyn sir. We brought her up here to confirm but she wasn't cooperating..." The room had gone silent as Jolon stared at the woman. "Well Lorena, I had an idea that this would happen, you've never been one to just listen to orders. I've always found it quite.... unappealing." Jolon had stood up at this point and was quietly making his way over to Lorena, who glared fiercely at him.
"I am not risking my life to fight that animal that lives in a human suit. I am well aware that I am not nearly powerful enough to fight that... thing and I would rather die on my own terms than be a piece of your games." The woman was young, probably only 18 or 19, yet she held her head high and her gaze was steady. She obviously had regained all her memories from past lives and held the knowledge from those as well.
"I know that she's really Lilith as well, and I told everyone I could before your guards dragged me out. They'll kill her as soon as she gets through with you. Your secret is out, you have nothing left, now all that I'm waiting for is for you to die. Because that monster that you've made down there, she's only good for one thing. Killing." Lorena spat the last word out and spit at Jolon's feet. Her eyes blazed with a fiery anger.
Jolon raised a hand and slapped her across the face, the crack so obnoxiously loud in the silent room. "Take her to the prison in Raven's Wood, once this fight is over, I'll go over to take care of her personally." Lorena's smile disappeared with the slap but she still remained stoically calm, she had chosen this death, and that's what mattered.
The guards dragged her out while Kit watched in horror. Poor girl had no idea that Jolon would hunt her down in every single life and make it a living hell. What he was more concerned about was the words she had said against Addilyn, what did this mean for after the fight? He did not know.

i literally don't know how to respond to anything :( i have no inspiration for this rp
all my replies are just fillers for you to write things bc you know the plot you want.... jason is basically just ":0 /// but i cant show it!" so he doesn't really have much going on
and jonas is weird but that's over now, and all (meaning like... the two other characters i have) are not here/can't be revealed as being here... so like.... i'm really struggling to find a way to reply that's not the exact same thing my last... like... 20 posts have been -- i am so sorry! -- and ill continue to make crappy posts so the rp can at least move along, but i am curious as to how many posts it's going to be of addilyn fighting the pre- fights and doing stuff until the face off w/ jolon
-
i'll actually reply and stuff once i know so i can get the pacing and know how far i'll need to stretch any events i think of

Hey that's completely understandable, it's perfectly fine! So the next post should be a relatively quick fight. After that a quick tiny break then start of fight with Andrés, those will both be in the same post. The ending of that fight will be another post and with the prep for fight with Jolon (as Addilyn will be injured in her fight with Andrés). Then it'll be Jolon's fight. So approximately three more posts (from me) and then we will be at Jolon's fight.

Michael knew this would be his end. As he had watched Addilyn, Zane, Kaitlyn, and Ribs leave, Michael was faced with two choices. Everything faded around him, and showed his two options: "follow them" or "stay."
Michael could see how many choices he would have beyound each of those decisions. With staying, there were many timelines that stemmed a very long life. Along all of those timelines, though, he saw the decision of whether to "go to a funeral" or "keep going," and to "try and find them" or "move on." Michael could only assume the group didn't make it, or at least part of them.
Very soon after deciding to follow the group, though, his choices ended, no matter what he decided to do (unless he went with a "back out" option).
This choice could be the death of him - literally.
With a big sigh, Michael mentally chose to follow the group. Another choice soon followed, "say goodbye" or "leave now." After looking into the future, Michael began following the car that headed off into the distance. Every instance with him saying goodbye either led to him backing out, or Alex following along.
Michael would not let anyone else get hurt.
(dis is in the past (obvi) buuuuut if you want to, mb brax sees him leaving and michael can be like " watch out for my sister" or smth. if not, thats good. just wanted to put it out there.)

Hey it's no problem! It is kinda up to you if Brax saw him, because I don't think Brax would purposely looking for Michael and he's more concerned about Addilyn's fight than anything))

Addilyn looked up as the announcer came on, her eyes puffy and red from crying. "Fighters to the arena! There has been a forfeit from Lorena Cory, also known as Kirsten Netherborne. She has made the decision to slide back down to the bottom of the ranks, please understand the changes!" The announcer always sounded much to happy to Addilyn's ears as she rose from her seat, trying to wipe away the tears.
"Here, let me help you." Kaitlyn stood up and waved a hand over Addilyn's face and the red spots and puffy eyes were gone. "Now you get out there, and be yourself. Think straight, because from what I've heard is that this third person messes with your mind," Kaitlyn's voice was hushed as she spoke.
"Well I'm used to that, thank you Kaitlyn." The girl smiled and disappeared up the stairs while Kaitlyn went to where the guys were sitting in their arena seats.
"The competitor this time around is Kayden Aurora, a powerful level 7, let the fight begin!"
The person that stood across the arena from Addilyn was an interesting woman, her hair was buzzed and bright pink, tattoos tracing up and down her arms. She looked to be in her early twenties and her eyes were a very light brown, with mixes of blue as well.
Addilyn didn't have the time to take it all in when the arena transformed into a completely different place, a very real hallucination that everyone in the arena had the joy of experiencing as well as Addilyn. She tried to force it out of her mind, and tried to ignore the terrifying, dark place that Kayden had sent her to. The other woman had disappeared into the darkness and was completely invisible to Addilyn's eyes.
Addilyn did a full 360, summoning flame in her hand as a sudden kick from her left side sent her tumbling.
She just barely managed to dodge the bullet that was fired soon after she hit the ground. Unfortunately she didn't dodge it fully, as she couldn't see the gun itself, so her side erupted into pain as the bullet grazed deep into her skin.
Addilyn used the wind to help her move quicker, using it as support, she was able to quickly stand and send out a wave of needles from the direction the bullet had appeared. The hallucination flickered, and for a moment the arena was the arena again, giving Addilyn a moment to find the woman and launch herself at her.
She slammed into the woman just as the hallucination flickered back in, but Kayden's body was still under her as they fell to the ground together. For a moment it was a struggle, and both Kayden and Addilyn got each other good with their knives. Eventually, Addilyn burned the woman's hand, a high pitched scream raising into the air.
And then the hallucination was gone and Addilyn was pinning the woman down, a knife against her throat and a small, controlled fire circled around a necklace that had fallen to the ground. "Give up or I burn it." Addilyn's voice was a growl as the woman under her stared at the necklace fearfully. "P-please don't destroy it, you obviously have won. I lost." Addilyn pulled away quickly, the fire snapping out of existence quickly and she walked away.
Kayden snatched up the necklace, which held her familiar's ashes, and glared at Addilyn's retreating form as she returned to her room. Her wounds seemed to be healing even as she walked away.

i apologize for this one - it's bad and short, and i don't really have an excuse for that :(

As Michael followed the car, he noticed that Brax was also outside. After looking at his options, he hesitated for only a moment before going over to the other man. Although Michael wasn't good in social situations, he figured it was definitely odd for him to approach this person he'd never talked to in the past, and act like it was nothing. However, that was exactly what he was about to do, "Hey..." He kept his voice low, so it wouldn't carry, "I'm going to follow them..." Michael hesitated once more. He didn't want to worry the other, or make him come along, as that would only complicate things, "...To... uh... make sure everything goes well... Watch out for Alex, alright? I'm not sure how well information will be able to travel, but once Addilyn fights Jolon, everyone here could be in danger. So... just be careful, and be ready to run."

Michael knew he was rushing, and being careless and suspicious, but at this point, the car was getting further ahead, and he would have to go now to be there in time, "...Good luck here..."

Jason looked down into the arena, confused by all of what was going on. He was silently cheering for Addilyn, although he had to admit the competitor was strong and powerful, and he magic was very cool. At the end though, it seemed Addilyn had won when the other girl might have still been able to fight back. He was glad she gave up, but it was still curious, "What did Addilyn have surrounded by the fire? It seemed important to the competition... Kayden..." Jason hated having to ask Jolon to clarify things, but he would know what was going on, and he was already there...

Brax looked up as Michael suddenly appeared. He'd been trying to calm himself down with the beautiful clear skies that he had never truly seen living in New York for so long. He never thought he'd get out of there, yet here he was, in Mexico of all places, still wondering if he would make it through the day.

Confusion flashed across Brax's face, Michael had maybe spoken to Brax once, yet here he was, all suspicious like, talking to him. It was odd to say the least, and his words made Brax's eyebrows furrow. "I'm not sure that is a good idea but if you really want to go, then hurry up. They're almost gone. And um... good luck to you too. Don't do anything stupid, like die, I'll watch Alex." Brax shrugged, as he'd already been doing that anyways.

The arena was being cleared quickly, and the audience seemed nervous. They had expected Addilyn to be powerful, but it seemed as if she could even beat Andres. It scared them. Addilyn scared them.

"Oh that little thing. That was her familiar's ashes. You see, not all witches have familiars, some are just too weak to have them, and familiars can always be killed. They'll come back the next life, but it is hard to watch them die. Kayden's one of the few who keeps her familiar with her even after its death." Jolon shrugged, while Kit shuttered in the background. He didn't even want to think of a life where he'd left Addilyn alone entirely.

Addilyn hissed as she plopped down on the bench in her room. Kaitlyn's worried image ran down the stairs, her eyes wide. "You got yourself shot badly, not even your accelerated healing is going to fix this in time for your fight with Andrés. You've caused yourself more problems.” Kaitlyn sighed and healed the injury as much as she could before the crackle of the speakers announced Addilyn’s next fight.

“You got this Addilyn, just please, be careful.” Kaitlyn watched as Addilyn stood up, she seemed so, so far away already.

She was definitely going to kill Andrés, no matter what Kaitlyn said.

Addilyn blinked as she entered the arena, the bright, natural light a change from the dim lights downstairs. She supposed that if she died here, it would suck only for a moment, at least she'd have a good view of the sky.

The sky had always been a symbol of freedom for Addilyn. She didn't know why, but for some reason, its massiveness just clicked for her. So maybe, if she died where the sky was right above her, she'd feel at peace.

Even if she was leaving everything behind.

“As everyone should know, Andrés Garcia is our second in power, and is a level 8. May the fight begin!”

Addilyn hadn't even noticed Andrés enter the arena, she was just too tied up in her own thoughts, but as soon as the word ‘begin’ left the announcer’s mouth, she was moving.

The thing about Andrés, was that his main gift was the ability to summon actual acid. The kind that could burn through a person and leave nothing behind.

Basically, Addilyn and Andrés had often been the best duo for Jolon. Addilyn being the one who killed whoever it was, and Andrés being the one who cleaned up her mess.

Addilyn wasn't sure how much Andrés’ power had changed, but she was positive it was still his main defense and he could make the acid appear anywhere. Meaning that standing still wasn't an option.

So Addilyn threw her needles at him, while he threw a glob of watered down acid at her. She just managed to jump out of the way, Andrés on the other hand, released a soft cry of pain as the needles pierced his skin, fiery hot as well as being unbelievably sharp.

Addilyn hit the ground hard but rolled immediately, releasing a sharp cry of pain as the injury from the last fight came alive with pain. She was smart though, as the place she'd landed was soon covered in the blue acid Andrés was so well known for.

“Addilyn please! We can fight Jolon together, you don't have to kill me to get your point across,” Andrés paused as he dodged a rather large fireball. “I know that hiding Destan was wrong but I had no choice. I didn't want you coming back and ruining everything.” Andrés held no sympathy in his tone, and his words obviously struck a nerve with Addilyn as she paused, only for a moment.

That was all he needed.

Her left foot was enveloped in acid in moments. She screamed a horrible, horrible cry and used the wind to push herself out of it. Addilyn’s brain fogged as her healing abilities kicked in and surged towards her foot. It was badly burned, but she knew it was manageable until she could get a potion in her.

“You horrible bastard. You may not be with Jolon but you are just as horrible as him and me. At least I recognize that I am a monster. You think you're just perfect but you aren't and you know it deep down but you refuse to acknowledge it. You've hurt just as many people as me, and you may vouch for peace, but you're too much of a coward to do anything. You kill for him just as everyone else does and you don't even rebel directly, you run off to your little friends and make plans that never actually work. Get off your high horse, you are no better than the rest of us.” Addilyn’s words were laced with anger and, although carefully hidden, betrayal.

Andrés had been her best friend when they were kids, and now here he was, betraying her.

Just as everyone did.
