Finn shook his head initially when she asked about pain. He didn't feel much pain at all anymore--much like Xevon had said. It wasn't much pain at all, just a new world. A new sensation and... feathers. Yippee.

His chest lifted and fell afterwards, one hand steadying himself against the nearby dresser while the other hand lifted up to press against his forehead. His fingers tangled up in his strawberry blond hair while he pieced through what was happening.

"... I think it was another memory," Finn's voice was breathless and wobbly, more on the uncertain side. He knew about modern technology but had memories about... using outdated and antique stuff. What was happening?!

...

Or more accurately, what was he before?

"I... I saw... I think I saw myself--a smaller version of myself at least--with a washboard. Those wooden boards with a metal ridged thing in the middle," his hand moved from his forehead down to wave and wiggle with his words, "I was washing something and it was up and down, right? Right. I... there was someone else there but they were too fuzzy to see."

He shook his head, confused. "You haven't had any memories at all?" His eyes turned to Lily, scanning her face for a long silent moment. "Anything?"

He really didn't want to be the only one--it made him question on if... if he ... if she was even real. He had to be real if he was having memories but if she wasn't?

Was any of this actually real or was he just on a long, solid limbo trip?

Lily tried to work out what that look was that splashed across his features before she could get a reply. Dipping her head a little to try and get a better viewing point. For a moment, her eyes drew up to where his hair was sticking out from between his fingers like spikes of dry grass.

"A memory?" She ventured, repeating him. "A washing board? I haven't seen one in person before, but yes I know what you mean." Her voice was slow and careful, treading on eggshells around the topic. It was unusual to have a memory of using one, the only places she had seen them were on historical shows.

Lily cleared her throat as she was suddenly the object of the conversation. "I can't say I have, I mean I remember who I am for the most part, but I don't know anything more than my name really..." She pulled her lip, biting at some of the dry skin on the bottom one. "I-I'm sorry, I haven't remembered anything yet." She felt like she had offended him perhaps with her lack of memory returning. He had spoken about it a few times, yet she had nothing. Not even a glimpse when she was asleep. Then she remembered the metallic weight in her back pocket, feeling the pull of the object on her jeans she pondered, maybe now she would start to get returning memories. Perhaps the talismans had been the key to bringing them out and she had only just obtained hers.

Lily went to move and retrieve it from her back pocket, but the movement made the drying blood on her arms stretch. Making its presence known again, she grimaced at the feeling. "Can we talk about this more when we aren't covered in your blood?"

Finn shook his head lightly, lowering his hand to his sides as he paced back and forth. "No, no, you're right. We should talk more when we actually clean up a bit. You should go first," he offered, gesturing to the bathroom with the same hand he had just had tangled up in his strawberry blond hair.

His gaze swiveled from right to left before he opted to just sit down on the floor where he was. He didn't want to get one of the beds dirty--even though there were probably at least a hundred other beds he could use. Dozens of rooms that they could move into and just leave this one behind entirely.

He rested his hands in his lap, chewing inwardly on his lip as he pieced through his thoughts. Thoughts that seemed to fall all over each other like dripping sand.

Xevon sighed softly, settling down beside him--despite knowing he couldn't really see him at all. He hadn't gone through that. He hadn't lost memories and remembered them through the trickling light of a pinhole.

He had all of his memories. He had been in this hotel as a tourist--a person on vacation. It was a "haunted" hotel or whatever legend that the locals had woven up. He hadn't realized that it wasn't haunted--for real--and that it was a sacrificial move from the local following of a deranged god-like figure.

Luckily, he was the last of the tourists to get trapped in that facade.

Lily tried to offer a small smile as he agreed, wanting to offer him to go first but she would be lying to herself if she didn't want first dibs. "Thank you, I'll be quick." She murmured, drifting towards the bed with all the towels, she plucked one of the last larger ones from the pile before slipping into the bathroom.

For the first time, Lily pondered on the idea that the shower may not work, the taps did so the chances were high, but she could never really know until she tried. Before she removed her stained clothes, Lily leaned into the shower and pulled the tap. Relief washing over her as the water began to flow, a soft sigh leaving her lips. This would be nice.

After she stood in the shower for longer than was probably required, she forced herself to turn off the calming warm stream. The sudden chill greeting her skin prickled the hairs, with quickened steps she moved to wrap her towel around herself. As she began to dry off the droplets of water, Lily's eyes carried towards the pile of clothes. A thought struck her, she had not checked the t-shirt beneath her jumper to see if it was stained, she prayed it wasn't or else she would have to pull the bloodied clothing back onto her clean skin.

She reached for the shirt and lifted it from the floor, it was clean. Smiling, Lily dressed herself once more and left the towel hanging by the shower, unsure if there was another large towel that was not covered in blood. Carefully, she pulled the door open and stepped out, carrying her shoes in one hand. The shirt was simple, a white t-shirt with red shoulders and stitching. Her hair was pushed back over her head, towel dried so it would not drip onto the floor, face lightly flushed from the heat.

"It's all yours." She hummed, making her way towards the bed without towels, perhaps she could rest while he showered.

Callisto had remained hovering beside Xevon, following him as he moved towards Finntello. He had no desire to go into the bathroom and watch Lily shower, for one that would be creepy and two it did not interest him. However, Callisto did make a point of trying to be in the line of sight for Finn, trying gauge if the man could perceive him yet. With the talismans together, his appearance to the living would be quicker and Lily's gift would arrive a lot sooner than Finn's had. By judging how quickly his own form could be made out by Finn and Lily, he could give them an estimate as to when Lily would have her round of pain.

"I will say, her not remembering things is a little interesting." He was half talking to himself as he directed his head towards Xevon, eyes still trailing over Finn's form on the bed. "I thought at least something would bleed through by now, as it had for him." Callisto gestured loosely towards the now half-winged man before him.

Finn tipped his head lightly, waving one hand as she hurried off. He knew full well he wasn't in too much of a rush to get cleaned off. It didn't affect him near as much as he thought it would. That or he was just putting up the face so that she didn't have to worry about him. That was unclear.

The sound of the water running was good--it meant that the water actually worked! Finn's shoulders loosened just a touch as he stood up again from the floor and began to walk around the room. It was a bit odd to work with the weight on his back. But after a long few minutes, he found himself used to the weight. He could see Xevon, almost fully, on the bed with his legs crossed over each other.

Beside him, there was... a misty ish figure. There was something. Finn wasn't quite sure what it was--well, he had a feeling he knew who it was but he wasn't entirely sure.

But he could hear them. "I'd say," he commented back, noting the memories conversation, "but perhaps it's a talisman thing? I got my first one after I had the locket in my pocket--heh--with the old door knob."

Xevon shrugged idly, looking toward Callisto and then back to the living man. "Beats me. I had all of mine to begin with. So, I'd assume so, but I really don't know."

Finn shook his head, setting his hands on his hips as he paced back and forth again. It wasn't until the door opened that he finally looked over and tipped his head. "Sounds fantastic," he stepped toward the shower.

Granted, he probably could've spent far more time in the shower than he did. But he found that trying to maneuver around the shower with a pair of growing wings was rather difficult. He did his best at least and stepped out, snatching the towel.

Unfortunately, to get his shirt off--well, he had to use some more force. Which meant that it was now a pile of scraps on the floor. But at least he was more or less clean.

That was something.

In the fading fog of the mirror, Finn finally took a moment to look at himself. The large wings had unfurled with a dazzling brown, cream and red color and--unfortunately--the tail feathers connected to the bottom were similar markings.

The tail feathers. That was a strange feeling. But he brushed it off and stepped out into the other room. "So now what?"

Callisto’s eyebrow quirked up as Finn decided to chime in on their conversation, he would have to get used to having other people aside from Xevon pipe up when he spoke his thoughts. “To be truthful, I still do not know the way things work here and I’ve been - “ He paused, casting a glance towards Xevon, debating whether or not to finish his sentence. “I’ve been here a long time.” He conceded, deciding not to reveal much more. As Xevon looked back towards his talisman holder, Callisto’s eyes scanned over him, softening a little. He was glad Xevon had showed up when he had, obviously him living would have been preferable. But some little selfish part of him was thankful to his companion.

Lily had settled herself onto the bed, letting her feet dangle from where she sat briefly, idly letting her gaze travel around the room. When she heard the water start back up again, her eyes made contact with the pale figure again. Except this time, it made her freeze. She could see an outline, a human figure taking form in the misty space beside her. Her surprise must have been clear as Callisto spoke in response to her shell-shocked appearance.

“I am glad you are beginning to perceive me as more than a disembodied voice.” His voice remained light, peppered with a small laugh. “You will be able to see us both very soon, I think. I believe your friend in there has sped this up a little.” Callisto remained where he stood, not wanting to cause Lily any more uncomfortable feelings other than his presence alone.

Lily slowly nodded, still feeling bewildered by the progression of the last 24 hours. “W-Who are you both? Why are we here?” She began to stream out her questions, now confused as to why Finntello had not asked these questions of them before. “Are we going to die here?” Whilst the anxiety still nibbled at her, Lily needed to know the situation. If she knew, perhaps she could keep a more level head.

When Finntello emerged from the bathroom, her eyes were ripped from the figure before her and landed on his face first. Then the lack of shirt. Then the sprawling wings. Lily’s eyes widened a little at the sight, after a few seconds of silence she scrambled to speak.

“What now?” She pressed, a tinge of disbelief in her tone as she rose to her feet and began to walk towards him in awe. Her eyes trailing along the feathers that fell gracefully from his back. Walking around him in a circle as she appraised the sudden arrival of the still slightly damp feathers, the colour bright at the tips. “I thought they were going to stay small, not this.” Her eyes remained trained on his torso as she stopped circling, standing in front of him. A quick jerk of her shoulders upon her realisation that she was staring blatantly at the topless man, she pressed her lips into a thin line and jolted her eyes back up to Finn’s face.

“What did you ask me?” Lily offered a sheepish smile as she tilted her head to gaze up at him, she had been distracted by this mythical appearance of wings, painting him angelic.

Xevon tipped his head lightly as Callisto addressed Lily. The comment about her friend was more than enough to make him chuckle. "Sure, sped up--if anything he's trying to speed-run this whole thing."

He paused as she prompted different questions--two of which were far more uncomfortable than the other one. At the first initial thought, Xevon wanted to say that they were simply going to live and escape. But as to why they were there--that was where he knew he had to be honest. There was no real lie that would make sense. But it was the truth that would be far more difficult to swallow.

Luckily, giving him some time to think over an answer, Finn stepped out and distracted the young woman.

"I'll be honest yeah," Finn's eyes traveled downward, looking at his own feathers. There were more than a few scars along his shoulders, arms and even a rather long one that wrapped downward from sternum to hip. But he was far more focused on wings than himself. "I honestly expected them to be small--maybe ornamental wings at best. These are huge but they're not that heavy either."

"You can't fly with little wings," Xevon sniffed. "The tail feathers are new."

Finn's rusty red gaze caught sight of hers and while her eyes were not yet at his, a touch of playfulness jumped into his expression. As she looked up, Finn gave her a flashing grin and struck a brief pose before shaking his head with a loose chuckle. "Didn't expect all of this?" He gestured to himself with a teasing wink. "Nah, I... I think I said something about a plan of sorts," he shrugged it off. "But hey, it's been a long day. I'm sure we could sleep for a bit and then figure out what else afterwards."

The smile hadn't left his face, still a touch flushed with color, but teasing nonetheless. "Unless you'd like to keep looking? I'm not gonna stop you--"

Xevon let out a short noise--faking a gagging sound and then rolled his eyes. His scowl turned to Callisto, jerking his hand back at the pair with a silent and meaningful look--as if to say 'that guy thinks he's something' and it was clear Xevon did not agree.

Lily’s eyes met Finn’s for the briefest moment before his limbs jumped up into their tensed pose, pushing out his muscles in an overly dramatic display. Her widened by a fraction, taken aback by the sudden teasing, her face flooding with blood. She could feel the heat painting her face as he spoke, but he seemed to be moving onto their previous conversation. Plans, yes they needed to figure out what they were going to do. Sleep sounded good, especially because it meant that she could go and hide from her embarrassment under the cool covers. Her lips began to split in response, to agree that sleep would be wonderful when she caught the glint his eyes return.

Lily sucked in a breath, feeling herself grow impossibly hotter, Finn’s own skin was kissed with pink but it was barely noticeable in contract to what she imagined her own cheeks looked like. Her hands rose up, palms facing him as she began to stammer her reply.

“I-I wasn’t trying to stare, I was looking at your wings!” Lily frantically spilled the words from her mouth, a breathless laugh accompanying her defence. She turned her head to look away for a moment, wishing her hair wasn’t still wet so that she could hide behind the strands. “Sleep is a good idea.” Her voice was quieter, trying to move their conversation on from her apparent gawking.

Callisto’s eyebrows scrunched up in slight judgement as he watched the interaction, Xevon making an artistic display of his own distaste. His eyes followed his friend as he flicked his hand around, a mumble of amusement rising to his own throat. Callisto was certainly not opposed to admiring the strange courtship happening in front of him, objectively Finn was handsome, but blondes weren’t his type. He preferred brooding, striking people. His head cocked to the side as he studied Xevon’s expression. “You’re rather dramatic, Xevon.” An amused laugh guided his words.

Lily felt her shoulders tense as she heard the voices to the side of them. Suddenly aware that not only had Finn just witnessed that, the two ghosts had also seen it. Oh Gods, she wanted to crawl into a ball and melt into the floor.

Finn grinned back at her, his eyes glittering with a playful delight as his own cheeks flushed with a bright red color. "N-no no, it's okay, I was too but... I dunno, figured I'd lighten the mood a little bit," the color drifted from cheeks to nose to his ears as he pushed towels off of one bed.

Xevon scoffed and moved from the other bed. "I am dramatic because it's ..."

"Gross? Uncomfortable?" Finn managed to find himself teasing the ghostly guest. "Makes you wish you could get a piece as well, eh?"

Xevon let out a sharp noise--but at first it seemed like he might've been offended. Instead, the ghostly figure lifted his chin upward, gave him a pointed look and huffed. "I have far more to me than you will ever dream of."

"True, a lot more... eh... wispies," Finn managed a sharper grin. "Maybe height if you float a little more toward the ceiling," he chuckled and shook his head. "How about we call it a truce, talk more after we wake up?"

Xevon rolled his eyes, giving him a side-eyed glare. He ruffled his wings, looked toward Callisto. "Guess I'll go see if he is still in his lair or if he's on the prowl..."

He left the words cryptic at best, drifting toward the door.

Her attention carefully rounded back towards Finn as she listened to the others converse. Peeking up towards him as he began to move towards the bed, she tried to reduce the warmth in her skin but she knew it wouldn’t subside for a while.

Callisto’s face flashed with a hint of concern as he listened to the progressing talk between his friend and the living man, he began to shift from where he stood, leaning closer towards Xevon. He felt a pang of guilt as he announced he would return to prowling for their tormentor. The well of fear began to yawn open inside of him once more at the thought of heading out to find the god, but the pull towards his companion was beginning to beat it out this time. Especially with the irritated tone to Xevon’s words, he did not wish to leave him to his own devices like that. As the last tip of his wings vanished through the door, Callisto looked back over towards the living.

“Sleep. Do not unlock that door unless you are sure it is safe. Do not go up to the third floor, that is for later.” His so far softer voice had hardened, seriousness drifting into its place. “I mean it.” Callisto concluded before darting out of the room after Xevon.

“Wait, don’t go sulking off.” He hurried to reach Xevon’s side once more, reaching out to poke at his shoulder. “He will still be up there, you still want to go see him?” Vague disbelief carried through his comment, trying to offer a hint of a smile. Once more, not exactly hitting the mark in the smile department. Sometimes he just looked uncanny.

Lily let out a large sigh, feeling the air deflate from her as she shuffled towards the bed she had slept in previously. Making a point to keep her eyes averted from Finn. “You seem to be good at annoying your ghost.” She shot the comment over her shoulder as she idly moved her pillow about, trying to appear like she was doing something.
