Kanu's words disturbed Sloane, but she didn't react until he complimented her, yet also called her cold. There, her brow furrowed deeper, and her lip pressed tight. Sloane had been about to make a remark back when Kanu dropped.
The immortal wasn't concerned, and only watched as the idiot fell through the sky with an almost bored look. She wasn't concerning with his life or anything, no matter what he said. It was probably just the drinks talking.

Kanu was busy enjoying his free fall when the arrow grazed his shoulder. His reaction was a loud, very manly, scream of pain. With practiced ease, he stopped his free fall, despite the very loud pain in his shoulder, and started flying again. He put a hand on his injury and his palm immediately stung. The hiss escaped his mouth before he could stop it.

His hand had a wicked burn on it, bright red and blistered. "Shit," Kanu growled as the realization hit him. The arrow had to be silver tipped, meaning he could be killed easily by whoever was trying to kill him.

It shocked him to no end that some earth dwellers knew the big secret that half-shifters held. It was kept under wraps for the safety of their kind and very few even knew Kanu was half shifter. Most believed that his mother's blood had overrode his father's (as that tended to happen with dragons) and he was full-blooded dragon like his mother. He wasn't though, and that meant he was susceptible to the half-shifter weakness.

Silver.

Kanu dodger the next few arrows but then he saw the other assassin, going for Sloane and her beast. Kanu didn't hesitate, he yelled at Sloane, his words powerful and a lot less slurred now that his blood was pumping with adrenaline. "Sloane watch out!" His voice traveled easily but he was distracted for a little to long, and before he knew it, his leg had been stuck with an arrow.

Sloane had continued to watch Kanu as he fell, and had started to look away before his scream tore her eyes to look at him. She couldn't tell what exactly was happening, he was so far away, but she swore there was a flash of red.
She was too busy watching Kanu dodge... arrows??... to pay attention to what was going on around her.
A rookie mistake.
Kanu's words caused the immortal to snap her neck up, spotting a person with an arrow notched right at her. Sloane coudn't afford to pay attention to Kanu anymore.

Sloane was a immortal, but she wasn't invincible. For the most part, the same injuries that would kill a human could kill her. An arrow would definitely kill her if struck her in a lethal place, or she could bleed out.

Grypham was just as eager as Sloane to flee, and shot up higher into the sky.

Kanu released another wail of pain as his leg burned. His powerful wings stayed strong but for how much longer, he did not know. Deciding that he was to weak to flee higher up in the air, he turned his attention to the man who seemed to be hell bent on killing him. Kanu's hand raised, the injured arm staying limp by his side, and he released his poisonous purple gas.
He pumped out enough that his escape would be easier to hide and perhaps he might kill the assassin as well, though that was not his complete intention. Kanu just needed to get away and this distraction was easiest.
With swift, powerful beats of his wings, Kanu flew out of the gas and flew away quickly. The arrows still embedded in his skin. He had begun to sweat earnestly as the poisonous silver swam through his blood stream. Finally, Kanu's wings began to fail, far enough away to where he should be safe but still not nearly close enough to the palace.
Pain wove it's way through his system and he started to fall. He was able to catch himself a little but eventually his wings gave up and he fell into a large clearing. His wings curled in and disappeared again, causing him to hit the ground hard though he was much to tired to do anything about it.

Sloane watched what happened down below, and saw the cloud of gas form. Despite herself, Sloane was relieved to know Kanu was still alive, and with her view from high above, saw the person hunting him fall to the ground.

She hoped they were dead.

When Kanu started to fall, Sloane hesitated for a moment, then urged Gryphem into a downward dive. Sloane stayed low, the wind pulling at every part of her.

Once they were low enough, Gryphem leveled out, and they hovered over the forest for a while, before the beast smelled blood.

They followed the scent, and finally found Kanu, who seemed to be in very bad shape. Sloane jumped down while Gryphem was landing, and sprinted over to the wounded shifter.

"Kanu! You dumbass - you better not be dead!" There was a trace of panic in her voice though, and she dropped down to her knees beside him to look at the wounds.

The wounds weren't too deep, the concerning part was the red vein-like lines sprouting from the injuries under his skin. Even his purple gas had taken a reddish tint. The red lines were not blood, as shifters had blue blood, which was what coated both of Kanu's injuries.
Kanu twitched often, as the poison played with his nervous system and caused needless reactions. He supposed he would probably die there, quite unfortunate as he really did want to live for a much, much longer time. Kanu wanted to eventually rule his kingdom, marry to a woman (or man, as Kanu was not picky) and have children. Adopted, because actual children were probably a little to much work for him.
Of course, this wouldn't work out if he died. But Kanu just accepted it, he could not stop death if it didn't want to be stopped.
His hope came with Sloane, her presence sending his dark thoughts scattering. "I am not dead yet, fortunately enough for all of my admirers." Kanu's voice was rough and although he tried for humor, it really didn't go well when blood was slipping out of his mouth. "Yea, Im pretty sure I'm dead. Just a little." Kanu's laughter descended into a horrible, rattling cough.
"If I don't die my mom is going to murder me, or you might kill me too. You never did like me. I knew that much." Kanu grinned at Sloane, his eyes unfocused and vision blurry.

"You got that right," Sloane said gruffly, although her face showed some concern. Kanu looked completely out of it. Sloane sort-of-gently put his arms on top his chest, and held back a groan, "Why do you have to be so fricken tall." Still, Sloane was a muscular beast, and scooped up the giant of an immortal, "This will hurt, probably," She warned, after picked him up.
Luckily, Gryphem was right there, and knelt down as low as he could go. Sloane hauled Kanu up onto her beast, and sprung up behind him, "Gently, Gryphem, but go as fast as you can to the palace." The griffin snorted, and did just as Sloane asked. "You better not fucking die, Kanu," Sloane grumbled under her breath, "You save my life, I save yours. Then we are even. You are not dying when I have a debt to repay to you."

Kanu cried out in pain with just the simple movement of his arm. This was nothing compared to when Sloane lifted him, which ripped a terrible scream from his throat. It was quite unlike any human scream, it was a much raspier, devilish cry of pain that sent forest animals scattering.
Kanu was in and out of consciousness, his blue blood running down his arm and staining his shirt. His leg was in bad shape as well, the redish vein-like poison spreading across his skin, crawling up his neck and tainting the scales on his cheek a dark pinkish-purple instead of deep purple.
"I really don't want to die you know. And I don't give a shit about debt Sloane. You owe me," Kanu sucked in a shallow breath, "you owe me nothing. No...no debt." His words descended into a deep cough, as clarity hit him through the pain.

Sloane shook her head, noticing that Kanu's body was way too light for someone his height as it flopped against her. She kept talking, and kept him awake, because if Kanu fell asleep, Sloane was worried he wouldn't wake up, "I don't know what the hell just happened, but I know you got hit because you were warning me. That's not cool... if whatever their weapons are hurt you that bad, look out for yourself first. And I think you completely roasted someone in your purple gas - shit," Sloane saw how fast the toxins were spreading, "Can your advisors save you?"

Kanu was light because his body was trying in vain to heal itself. So much so that it was eating away the muscle he had just barely managed to gain, in mere seconds he was losing weight.
It was like this for both full-blooded dragons and half dragons, though his kind always had to deal with the muscle eating problem while the full-bloods only had to deal with it in instances of severe injury. It used the stored energy to help speed up the healing process.
"My people know how to save me but it really," he sucked in a shallow breath, "depends on how long I don't have the antiote in me. I'm saying," Kanu paused, "that if you want me to live we should maybe hurry." Kanu coughed, blue blood trickling out of his mouth.
"And just because I'm an ass doesn't mean I would let you die. Maybe you don't get it, but I would rather have saved you than myself. Even if I don't particularly," Kanu took another gasping breath, his arm twitching, earning a small cry of pain from Kanu. "E-even if I don't particularly want to die. Might as well save you, a person with common sense, than myself. Though I would be a significant loss to all the worlds." Kanu turned slightly to wink at Sloane, trying for his flirtatious humor and only finding pain.
